Male Duets- Unforgetable

generally duets bring to mind a male & a female singing romantic songs. however some good male duets have also cropped up from time to time. here a few as starters
1. Penn Onru kanden (Padithaal M P: TMS-PBS the best in the genre )
2. Paadinaall ORu Paatu( Oru Thaai Makkal TMS-PBS )
3. Ramu I love you ( Unakkaga Naan TMS-KJY)
4. Irandukaigal naangaanal ( Tirisoolam SPB-KJY)
5 He Raja onrannom inru (SPB-Mano)

  Naan oru koil does not ring a bell. the film had swapna in the lead or was it satyakala. somebody appeared in abikini which was splashed all over the mags. but can you give a few more lines.

  Kaasikku pogum sanyaasi (TMS-SG) again
  Both are good numbers sung with gusto by the veterans.
  There was this number from a sivaji movie (balaji remake of Beimaan) which had sonepapaddi sonappapadi sung by TMS-Kovai sowndarrajan. It was as if TMS was singing for both.

  raman enbathu would become a triplet(?)
  same way karnan had a great song (TMS,PBS,Sirgazhi,TL) enna koduppan ethai koduppan.. PBS... than karam neetuvaar matravar petru kollvaar...TMS. thatb would be the best quatret.Karnan as such had excellent songs & the best saram of Geethai for the common man.Inainda kaigal song is good but the rythm is very familiar. etho ketta paadal pollave irukku.

  I vaguley remember a male-duet by Sankar-Ganesh that was basically a ulta of an old msv(?) song. the situation was like this: 2 friends singing about their close friendship. s-g lifted it from an old song (andha naal gnabagam? ponn ondru kanden?) and proudly said in an interview that they were able to convey the intended emotion of friendship with a familiar song that portrayed the same feelings. Maybe the jaambavaans of the s-g thread can help.

  There was this song in Agathiyar.song situation was a potti between Agathiyar & Ravanan. TMS sung for Ravanan & SG acted & sang for Agathiyar. starting maranthu pocchu. Raaga maligai some part goes like it

  i beg to differ. for a layman like me Veenai kodiyudaya" from samboorna ramayanam is an authentic source for identification. it also indulges in a bit of alabanai for the main ragas & also the appropriate occassion to sing. Good O_IS_G that you brought it up. The connection here is Ravanan who had several good qualities music being one of them .(Unlike our heroes of today in real not reel life who have nothing positive about them!)I did not mention Veenai kodiyudaya because it is technically not a duet. the minister & other courtiers ask him for a lecture cum demo as it were ( Music academy morning series as it were) But my vote is definitely for Veenai Kodi..

  But TMS & SG voices have more clarity,expression and Bhavam than CSJ's voice.The song stands out in another aspect.When other "Raga"explaing songs like "Veenai" "Oru Naal pothuma" got more number of lines for less number of raga description.There was also scope for alabanai.
  
  Just listen to these lines
  
  "Mohana ganam naan meetitudeven"
  "Bageswariyo parmporulo"
  "Kalyani Manalan Kai koduppan".
  The singers would have brought the raga bhava in just 4 words and imagine the next line with 4 words was in another raga.
  
  Another male duet - TR Mahalingam and sivaji in Raja Raja cholan -Thendralodu udan piranthal.Sivaji sings the full song unlike"Vanna thamiz pennoruthi"
  
  Agasthiyar has got TRM-SG duet.Namchivaya ena solvome (SG) and Naryana endru solvome by(TRM).

  Yes I agree scope for alabanai was more in Veenai & that is why I like that song especially yudda ragham & kambodhi bits
