we will definitely miss a talented MD... Nammavar and his BGM in Kurudhi Punal were really good... I guess he was one among those infamous talented MDs who didnt receive a fair chance... I wonder why directors went to sirpy, SAR & deva instead of these guys...

This news should be in the home page. However, little he has contributed, he is still a TFM director.

A sad day indeed. I loved his songs in nammavar and his work in Kuruthippunal. He was going to work on the next P.C.Sriram's film. He was a figure of resilience, who overcame his obstacles and found happiness in music.
I've posted this in the front page. I don't see the news anywhere else other than vikatan. Please post any other news links that you may come across.

May god give the strength to his family at this difficult time.

Really it is the shock to every one. Though the films he scored can be numbered but the fame he earned is not measurable. What ever he did, he did the best like an experienced musician. Though he has the cancer, his face never expressed in any of his photo published in magazines. Very silent achiever and genius. We should thank Kamal for bringing him into the mainstream.
My deepest condolence for Mahesh's family. We pray the almighty to take care of them.

It's really a sad news !!..Indeed ..only recently I came to know that he had tuned in the songs for nammavar and kuruthipunal..Those were good melodies really.."poonguyil padinal" especially..well, Rarely melodies of this sort are being composed this time around..May be because of cancer he was not able to devote much of his time on music or else I amsure he would have made it very big..Sad thin' really !!...Let's pray to God for his soul to rest in peace...
Lets also pray to the almighty for some breakthrough in medical science soon, for a cure for this dreadly "cancer" so that many lives get saved...God is great !!!!

Yet another unsung hero, who brought in so much freshness and originality to TFM and the world of advertising. His songs 'UdayOdu piRakkavillai' and 'Poonguyil pAdinAl' are great melodies with an original flavor.
I've heard about Mahesh's 'never-say-die' attitude.. his zest& will power to fight the deadly illness. It's sad that filmmakers preferred the SA Rajkumars amd Sirpis over such a talented guy. (Ditto, with V. S. Narasimhan, who's not just a violin virtuoso, but a very good composer... he is now back to playing solo violin).
My condolences to Mahesh's family.
May his soul rest in peace.

I heard Kamal was asked to go to Mahesh by IR himslef for kurudhippunal since he did not have time. That is how Mahesh met Kamal. Mahesh is supposedly a student of trinity college of london. If IR had suggested him as a replacement for himslef, I am sure he should have been wonderfully talented which was not fully tapped. The song poonkuyil paadinaal nalla sangeetham is a beautiful number. May his soul rest in harmony.

Song of the Day: udaiyOdu pirakkavillai from nammavar.
http://www.newtfmpage.com/cgi-bin/stream.pl?url=http://www.dhool.com/sotd/udai.rm
I was feeling sad the whole day, thinking about Mahesh and his long battle with cancer. I've always felt that he didn't get his due while lesser talented folks made it big. I attended one of his shows a few years back. He was making a comeback with P.C.Sriram's vaanam vasappadum, but that was not to be.
Poonkuyil paadinaal was featured in SOTD earlier, so, I've put up "udaiyOdu pirakkavillai". Sung by SPB and Sujatha. A nice romantic song, it was cut short in the film.
udaiyOdu pirakkavillai
uNarvOdu pirandhuvittOm
nam vaazhvin thEvaiyai
vaazhndhup pOga vandhOm.
A couple of years back, we featured Mahesh's songs in the Picks of the Month, here: http://www.newtfmpage.com/pom/pom_090800.html

Very sad news. The sorrow and respect that an artist's passing away generates cannot be put in words. His works will stay in memory though he is no more.
Let our thoughts be with their family.

its really sad news. a few days back i was very happy in saying that mahesh is the person who in his real life itself has sung the song "naan cheththu pozhachchavandaa aemanai paaththu sirichchavanda". but today morning in "The-Hindu" in obituary column when i saw that he is dead i was shocked. Really its a great loss to TFM and TFM lovers. May God Almighty rest his soul in peace.
PS: In "The-Hindu" there was no news. I got this info only in obituary column. Its double sad.

was shocked to see the Obituary of Mr. Mahesh. i feel he was the only MD at that time, other than ARR (or was it b4 ARR came?)who gave a different kind of Music from IR. A really talented person as shown in his BGMs and songs.
i feel even more sad since he did not get his deserved recognition.
