Hindi is sweet, Tamil is not - Says Karthik Raja
In an interview aired Tuesday (July 28) on Singapore's Oli Tamil Radio, to a question Karthik Raja replied that he likes composing for Hindi movies because the language is so sweet and makes his composition sound sweet. He went on to say that he thinks that that sweetness is missing in Tamil.
When the interviewers (two women) asked him about the current generation of singers he said that after SPB and Hariharan there has been no new male singer who is versatile. He added that the new male singers are all so monotonous.
The two women interviewers spoke in pure Tamil and only in Tamil. Karthik Raja's vocabulary was about 70% English and 30% Tamil. (At the end of the interview, the interviewers thanked him for his efforts to speak in Tamil.)
The interviewers asked who were the singers in his latest album, Karthik replied "Vijay Parakash, from Mumbai". The interviewers repied, "yeah, north indian singers' voices do have a vaseegaram".
I was so impressed at the maturity, diplomacy and the pride in heritage of the interviewers (the two Singaporean women).

Kolkata: Cricketing legend Kapil Dev on Saturday joined former run machine Sunil Gavaskar in condeming sledging, saying matches should be won through performance and not unfair means.
"You should win on the basis of talent and performnance. If you resort to means like sledging to earn a victory, I think thats unfair," Kapil told the media.
The skipper of the 1983 World Cup winning India side said that the game was virtually free of sledging when he and Gavaskar played cricket.
"The odd incident or two my have occurred, but largely the game was sledging-free. Older generation players like me and Gavaskar played the game in a healthier way, in tune with its lofty spirit," Kapil said.
"I can understand Gavaskar's sentiments when he expressed his dismay with sledging. It is diffcult for our generation players to accept it. I wholeheartedly support Sunny," Kapil said.
Referring to Australia, who are now being widely cricticised for resorting to rampant sledging on the cricket field, Kapil said: "If they are such a talented side, why do they need to take recourse to sledging? Their performance should be enough."
Gavaskar, while delivering the prestigious Collin Cowdrey lecture at MCC on Tuesday, had decried sledging, saying that it was ruining the good name of the game and called for protection to players against unchecked personal abuse.
Without naming Australia, Gavaskar said the Champions were setting a wrong example by their intimidatory tactics and 'verbal bouncers' on the field

hindi and english same roots?! man, what is goin on here. so, hindi same same greek latin, and english athey athey arabic? and sanskrit derived from persian and hindi derived from urdu? man, some people have lost it. throat lingo are the follwoing: arabic, persian, urdu, hindi and others. tongue lingos:sanskrit, english, tamil, mal, with some emphasis given by the ha (not haan as in hindi or german), english is the most normal language and Tamil may sound rotten, but it is the next most normal language on the planet. only similarity between hindi and english (hence their popularity) is the intuitiveness. english derived from latin and greek and tamil has more affinity to one another!
where are the linguists, please. by the way don't u think bengali is more chinese than indian? especially, both are related to highly intellectual people and communism seems to be their second skin? ;---)
