ROTFL, Kaushik,
I am certainly diiferent that Vinothini and Vijayalakshmi. They are my cousin sisters. We felt very upset after seeing KM, since we are all hardcore fans of ManiRatnam.
I don't need to prove that I am different than Vijaya and Vinothini. We put out honest opinion in the thread. If our comments hurts you all, sorry for that. But for this, you no need to confuse yourself, who is ravi and who is vinothini. I feel, it is none-of-your need. If you want to answer for our thread, please answer it. Don't waste your time by analysing who is Ravi or Vijaya or Vinothini.

ROFTL/Kaushik,
TO come with something better, I am not a story writer.
A sad news for you people - Kannaththil Muththamittal is removed from a theatre in Pattukottai in just three days and in Viruththachalam in 5 days. The list will grow soon. Again a big blow to the MANI-ARR combination. Kannungala, ithu vayaththerichchal illai. Unmai. Kattayam award undu intha padaththukku, aana, collection nahi mame. Ayyo povan distributors.theare owners.

To ensure success next time, Maniratnam must make a movie with the title: "Ravi/Vijaya Lakshmi/Vinothini"
hehehe

Her is my Review OF KM.
This is a great movie with very little
commercial ingredients added to it. For those
who have not seen the movie, it is best that
you go watch the movie without knowing
anythig abt the story line. I will only talk abt
the other aspects of the movie that form the
pillars of good cinema.
The movie is a visual treat from the start to
the end. The way camera pans in and out
and weaves around to give you the complete
pic is amazing. There is a clarity to the picture. Everything from the ocean, to disater in sri
lanka talks to you. Kudos to Ravi K Chandran for the breathtaking camerawork.
Sujatha's dialogue are simple but pack a punch when needed. Care has been taken to bring
out subtle humour that occurs in a day to day household. This creates a sense of
nostalgia(speciially for me being away from home) and makes you get closer to the
characters.
AR Rahman's does a good job both with the songs and the background score. Most of the
songs come in the background and don't seem to hinder the story-telling. "Nenjil Dil Dil" and
"Vellai Pookal" (listen to the way the guitar is used throughout the song) are both melodious
and are songs that are aptly composed. Vairamuthu's lyrics lend credibility to the situation at
hand.
Both Madhavan and Simran have acted well. They both do justice to the characters they are
playing. Nandita Das and Prakash Raj have cameo roles and are OK. The girl who plays
amutha seems to be all set for a acting career. Her histrionics at times did leave me a bit
irritated but her overall performance was good.
The confrontation between the SL army and Tamils have been orchetrated well. It looks very
realistic and creadit should go to Vikram Dharma.
I thought Mani Ratnam with this movie, has finally decided to talk abt the Tamil issue. That is
not to be. He is non-comittal on the whole issue, but does try to make an observation on war
in general. The story is executed beautifully and the screenplay is tight. However scenes like
the girl being left unattended time and again should have been avoided. Also madhavan talks
tough but yields to every whim and fancy of the girl that does not sound right.
It is one of the better movies and a must watch for emotional drama. I liked this one better
than Alaipayuthe.

KM is a wonderfull movie. Mani has really come out good with a serious movie after a long time(AP was not bad). This is better than all of his terrorist triologies. ARR has redeemed himself after a lot of duds. Both the songs and the BGM are good.

Kuppusamy,
Kattaayam, KM-kkui National Virudhu kidaikkum. Tamil nattil antha thaguthiyai petra kudembangal ondru kamal kumdumbam matrathu mani kudumbam. Antha adippadaiyil, kattayam, KM-kku national virudhu nitchayam. But, collectionil sariyana ooththal so far. Chennai, MM theatril, 3 naal mattum houseful. Athtukku appuram, crowd dull mame. Nanga moonu paerum, theatre theatre-a poi check panna vaendiya avasiyam illai. Santhegam irunthaal, MM theatre poi parunga sir. Eeayaduthu. Without commercial elements, no movies will run. Even in Sethu and Alagi, little elements of commercial items are there. It is a packa mix of commercial and art. In KM, only ART. Kalai kaasu kodukkaathu. Anyway, I wish some miracle will happen to save KM and also some adrent fans like ROFTL/Kuashik.Kuppusamy get some happy moments.

19 . A.R.Rahman's songs are not becoming hits nowadays. Why?
--- Kaushik, Mangalore
Thenali: 'Kannathil Muthamittal' has also kissed him good bye. Once he had scored 100% and now he's not even managing to pass. Ironic. Lets hope that the Almighty's blessings & sheer hard works bring the 'Humma' Rahman back.
ravana,is this what you wanted us to see?

10 . Could you list out some remarkable displays of talent in the year 2001?
--- Kathir, Salem
Thenali: Sure! Best story - Citizen & 12B, Actor - Vikram, Film - 'Pandavar Bhoomi', Actress - Kavya Madhavan, Music - Ilayaraja, Song - 'Vaseegaraa', Male & Female Singers - Hariharan & Anuradha Shriram, Lyricist - Vairamuthu, Cinematographer - Ravi K.Chandran. Finally, the biggest enemies to cinema last year - 'K'TV and 'Chithi'!
and guys are hollering IR is finished...

Citizen and 12B, pinnacles of trash, best stories of the year? Yaaro, do you really give this "thenali" any credibility? IMO, ARR dished out mighty disappointing fare in - Thenali, Jodi, Star, Alli Arjuna - but I think PP was far better than many of last year's commercial hits, undone purely by KB's geriatric filmmaking. KM is a different case, purely a film-based score that's not aimed at album sales in isolation. Much like IR's work in Nayakan, Guna, Mahanadhi etc.
Did Hariharan have any better song than Karthik, Harish or Balram? Anuradha sing anything better than Harini's "moondrezhuthu"?
Being an IR fan, you mustn't put out these lists and discredit him by the inglorious company he keeps:)

Ravi - mannichidungo. I have no problems accepting your opinion, but was just ROTFL seeing three subsequent comments from one site.
You are of course entitled to your opinion.
yaaro/evaro - I think Ravi's comments above is much better than those of Thenali. I mean, Citizen, gimme a break please. :)

well chaps,
the writing is on the wall and you are all in denial.I am in complete agreement with the above list except citizen and 12-b(which was not too bad).one magazine -agreed.but 10 magazines all saying ARR is down-well if you are denying that you seem to be in your own version of conspiracy theory....keep dreaming your daydreams.I suppose if the above list had given ARR ,you would all have nodded your heads in wise agreement.sorry chaps.till he got involved in this bombay dreams stuff ,ARR did make some decent music, which even me,a HCIRF was able to appreciate.dont quote lagaan-that was done in 2000.last year has been absolutely devoid of any nos which I could appreciate(not that he is looking for my appreciation:-))except kanathil muthamittal title song.he sounds tired and jaded.someone was mentioning ,once IR was pulled into writing the symphony,he lost his market.I am just wondering whether there is a lesson for our composers...

If we want the downfall of ARR then we can feel it. Otherwise ARR has second round. Let us not look for the downfall of any MD. Let us hope the best from them.

yaaro, what do u gain out of proving that majority of the media has given poor reviews on the music. And why do u guys get excited when the movie reviewers do not review the music? Maybe they're not qualified to review the music and so they leave it.
But i seriously wanna know wat HCIRFs are trying to prove here.
No one wastes their time to prove that IR albums suck. And I think we all know why no one bothers to attempt proving that. Why is there a need then to prove ARR albums suck? And what exactly do HCIRFs gain from doing so?
