"The album kicks in with the very catchy ye ye ennachu sung by Vasundhara Das in manner that only she can. Next is a beauty of a ballad sonnalum by Unnikrishnan and Harini.
Vaan nila by Srinivas and Karthik is a highly innovative rock-n-roll track that would not let your feet rest. S P Balu is in his usual fantastic form in the heart warming yenthan vanin. Rahman takes off again into a very progressive FTV style track in bailmore with T R Simbu and Tippu doing the vocal honours. And the album ends on a grand note with Mano and Clinton going for the gut with o kadhale, which also sits on an emotional high note in the movie.
Kaadhal Virus has all the ingredients of a typical Kathir-A R Rahman soundtrack. A great mix of upbeat youthful tracks and soulful ballads"

hey....i was wondering...why on Raaga.com when there is an album released by AR Rahman, his name will be in bold. Never seen any other album with the MD's name in bold. NOt ever Ilayaraja. Why is that so?

Interesting Kathir movies facts :
1) all his songs are written by Vaali
2) he made 4 movies before this.. i.e Ithayam, Uzhavan, Kathal Desam, Kathalar Thinam.
3) Except for his first movie (ithayam), which IR was MD, the rest are by ARR.
4) except for ithayam, the rest of his movies are failures.
5) which means, ir is better than arr

s,
1)True
2)True
3)True
4)False.. all his movies are flop technically but a hit commercially.
5)False and Illogical : Even if they were failure he still stick with ARR, you must obviously know why.
Folks,
Maniratnam wont be bak in tamil for a while as he is doing remake of Alaipayuthey in hindi... Damn!

Kum_laden,
Mani is not directing the hindi version of Alai Paayuthey...called Saathiya. Its being directed by one of his assistants, Shaad Ali. Maniratnam, Bobby Bedi (of Bandit Queen fame) and Yash Chopra are producing it...in fact Mani is credited as Creative Producer for the film IIRR.
Last heard Mani was discussing a very ambitious project with Kamal Hassan.

Thats good news. but wasnt Mani in the team of Indira Gandhi's life documentary movie? I hope to see Mani and Kamal's next venture. As usual he keeps it quiet so who knows it might be started already. Kamal need a hit badly.

Sony Arrives In Tamil
By Moviebuzz
Sony music has entered the Tamil audio market with A.R.Rahman’s new film Kaadhal Virus. At a time when the audio market is at an all time low, Sony has entered to bail out Rahman. The maestro’s last three films in Tamil, Paarthale Paravasam, Kannathil Mutthamittal, and Baba have all been wash-outs.
Sony had a big audio launch of Kadhal Virus at the Devi theatre in Chennai. All the industry bigwigs like AVM Saravanan, directors like Bharathiraja, Shankar and Vikraman came for the function where Simran was the chief guest. Two songs from the film were shown to the invitees, which showcased director Kathir’s innovative song picturisation on newcomers Richard, and Sridevi. Richard is the brother of Shalini and Sridevi is the youngest daughter of Vijayakumar and Manjula. There are six songs in the album and a couple of them are peppy and have chances to become chartbusters.
For Rahman it is an acid test as Kadhal Virus is his one last chance to bounce back in Tamil.

typical Arr-ish audio cover... suits best for audio casettes, laminated, with Kadhal Virus written on it and our poor ARR peeking out of a yellow circle with a broadsmile right next to the title.

Alrite.. got a review from some ARRFAN @ arrfan yahoo club.... Still waiting for someone to upload songs.. :P
Shyam @ yahooclubs wrote..
hi guys...
heres my take on KV....if anyone says he likes the song on the first
hearing..HES LYING!!!!
i hated 5 out of 6 songs the first time....
then sat alone...took out my head
phones....resutl....AMAZING...AWESOME....i guess this album will
prove arr can expriment successfully!!! really good stuff!!
btw tape is priced at 45 rs...and cd at 145 (surprising pricing from
sony music!!!)
the album opens with vasundara das on Ye Ye Enne aachu....i would
call this a tamil R & B!!! seriously!!! hehe!!! was surprised to hear
some amazing strings at the end of the song!! heeh!! and vasundra
goes "mavane!!!" haha!!
second (Sonnalum) is the typical arr unnikrishnan melody (unni afrter
a long long time...i think sangamam was his last one)...mirudangam in
the middle...n otherr indian percussion...
the third one, Van Nila, is easily one of the best in the
album...janardanans sax pieces stand out!!! the song is full of
awesome saxaphone...and amazing guitars...totally diff
ragam....rhythm...rock ....amazing clarity on the hi hats!! hehe!!
and gr8 piano too!! karthik is good!! but ive to say it
again...janardanan is awesome....the strings on the second interlude
behind the sax...sounds good...i guess wer used ot some awesome
string sections from arr....
the fourth one is called Yenthen vanin...SPB and swarnalatha.....its
again the typical arr melody.....cant comment on it rite now...
baila more stars off promisingly...but i feel it starts dragging
somewhere....maybe i need to listen to it more!! hehe!! the bass in
the beginnning is pretty cool.....and the vocals
too.....T.R.Chimpu...he would be t.rajendars son i
guess....hmmm...not bad i should say!! hahah!!! wonder how he got
this chance!! hahaha!! but some pieces sounds like samples....im not
too sure.....surely an experiment by arr....sounds diff....
mano excels in O Kadhale...i think this will be an instant
hit....really melodious song...with some intricate lines when the
charanam starts...the song starts with pads and chords...and the
rhythm is really cool....strings fill up the first interlude....and
again...the flute..sounds like its played on a keyboard...maybe its
the recorder or something!! not sure....or it coluld be my ears...
clinton again proves his worth...with the humming behind manos lines
in the charanam....and also in the second interlude...when he
goes "kadhale....O kadhalee"....arrs strings section again stands
out....i nmean..i really cant explain the stings on this song!! its
too good!! uve to listen to it!!!
but theres a place where mano coughs....(must be cos the hero does it
in the movie)...one would have thoght they whould have confined the
coughing to the mobvie...and not got it on the album!
ONE SINCERE ADVICE TO KV LISTENERS...
USE HEADPHONES!! :) :)
im listening to it for the 4th time...and im in love with it!!
ok then...sorry abt the long mail....
cheers
happy listening
shyam
ps: my opinion abt KV changed from worse to amazing....in a matter of
2.5 hrs!!!! haha!!!

yes....the cassette is priced at Rs.45.......and i guess they r selling like hot piece of cakes (no wonder!)......coz as soon as i walked in the guy handed me a kathal virus cassette! :)
on first hearing i thot......sahikkala......kandravi.....but for one song.....VaanNila
1) Yae Enna aachu i felt was decen on the first hearing......but now i feel its really really good.....esplly coz wat we get normally is a fast beat western song.....on the contrary i feel this one has slower beats.......yeah i agree no1 cud have sung this better than Vasundhra Das.......and a typical vasundhra ending to the song as well.....she sez "ok".....just like "oops" and "adios amegos"
2)Sonnalaum.....wonderful melody.....i read in The Hindu that Shankar wanted this song for Boys.....unfortunately it had been chosen already by kathir! :) ..... this is the song which u can hear in the trailers (or shud i say ads) as well......unnikrishnana super
3)VaanNila......my pick in this album.....super-o-super......liked the sax bits very much......just feel piano cud have been avoided in some places
4)Yenthan Vaanin....another melody....very well done by SPB
5)Bailamore......chumma solla koodathu karadi kutti nallavey paadi irukku (NOM!) :) ...... has some funky beats (the robot sortof ones) ..... robot beats into music??? .... i can find a better man to do it than ARR ..... this song has more of these beats than the singing bit itself! .... a new effort from ARR
6)O Kadhaley......another melody which ends on a devadas kinda note :) (the coughing and stuff!)
overall really really nice album.......with new expts. by ARR ..... 3 melodies and 3 western kinda songa are enuf to get the attention of ppl........however Kannathil Muthamittal is still my favourite for this year
