Prashanth teams up with Laila in Shock


After Jai, Thiagarajan’s Lakshmi Shanthi Movies is all set to produce a thriller film Shock which is the remake of the silver jubilee Hindi movie Bhoot. Shock is not a horror movie but a sad story of incidents that take place in a middle class girl’s life. Prashanth is playing the lead along with Laila and Asin. After Aanazhagan, Thiagarajan is directing Prashanth in this movie. Apart from taking care of the direction, screen play and dialogues, Thiagarajan also acts as a strict police officer. Sarita comes in an important role. Kushboo, Ramya Krishna Vamsi, Sarath Babu, Raghuvaran, Sarada M.P., Virumaandi fame Pasupathy are among others cast in the movie. The story is jointly written by Shamir Sharma and Lalit Marthe. The music is scored by Saleem Sulaiman and lyrics are by Pa. Vijay. The background music which will send a chill down the spine of the viewer is being recorded in London. Cinematography is by M.V. Paneerselvam and the choreography is taken care of by Remo, Brinda and Rajasekhar. The art director is Yogamagi and editing is done by Sai Suresh. Stunt director Thalapathi Dinesh has given a new aspect to the stunt sequences.
Shock is being shot with a new technology such that it cannot be reproduced on pirated VCD and if attempted only portions of the movie would be recorded.

  Laila is not acting in the film Shock opposite to Prashanth as reported earlier. Laila personally spoke to the editor of galatta.com to confirm that she has not signed for Shock with Thiyagarajan, the producer director of the film.

  'Jai', the Prashant, Anshu-starrer and the actor's home production, did not exactly set the box office on fire. But the father-son duo of Thiagarajan and Prashant are on to their next venture. And this time they are out to 'Shock' the audience out of their wits! Yes, 'Shock' is the title of their new film, and it's a remake of the Ramgopal Varma horror flick 'Bhooth'.
  
  With Prashant playing the male lead, the film has Laila and Asin (currently acting in the Telugu version of 'Kakka Kakka', and the Tamil 'Chennaiyil Oru Mazhai Kaalam') as heroines. The film boasts of a big star cast including Khusboo, Ramya Krishnan, Sarita, Sharat Babu, Pasupathi, Raghuvaran, Sharada and Thiagarajan, who plays a cop in the film. Thiagarajan, apart from producing and acting in the film, also directs it.
  
  The music score by Salim Suleiman is to be recorded in London. 'Shock' has editing by Sai Suresh, sets by Mahi, cinematography by Panneerselvam, stunt choreography by Dalapathy Dinesh and dances by Remo, Brinda and Rajasekhar.

  A new technology that wouldn't allow the film to be viewed on pirated VCDs in its entirety would be adopted, says Thiagarajan. The film's publicity would also advise viewers against viewing the film alone in theatres, since it's expected to scare the daylights out of them!
  
  Though it's a ghost story, it's also a tragic tale of a girl from a middle-class family and the horrible experience she undergoes. It's also about being possessed and vendetta.
  
  Thiagarajan had earlier directed Prashant for the film 'Aan Azhagan'. Now, after years, the duo are teaming up. The film would be a novel experience for Tamil viewers, promise the duo.

  Paarka vara oruvarayum ippadi veratti adicha eppadi? Something like "Don't worry, Theater Manager Mr. Kadiresan will sit with you" would be more reassuring.
