RKT,is apparently from a movie called''tali-party''!Good name for Rajini's party if he wants to start one.

//patriotic Hindi song, the lyrics from a very famous poem written by Bankim Chandra Chatarji. Regarded by many as India's national song. Performed in the 50's film "Anand Math". //-So,finally it was the genuine and original vande mataram which triumphed-not the synthetic version.Good for the indian spirit!

yaaro, if you click on "Listen" there, the VM piece is from the ARR album.
I think it is atrocious that after so many votes were cast for RKT, they would call the movie tali-party. Ridiculous, to say the least. a simple google search would have told them the correct name.

Whatever i expected happened..BBC guys were cunning enough to close the pie chart system 10 days before the results were announced..:-)
Was "A nation once again" in the top ten ten days back?Or it came as a sudden surprise?
Very sad that RKT's starting bit is not there in the 29 seconds piece..direct'a spb paada arambikirar paa..:-(
Is that VM piece from ARR's VM album? Or from the hindi film Anand Math??Orey conpision..
As yaaro said they might have given preference for national anthems..:-)..So can we say that RKT is the number one film(non patriotic) song in the BBC poll?(Ippo parunga sandaya..he he.)

Did you read what was mentioned about the top 4 songs.
The Top Four Songs in our survey are all similar in that they were voted for in an organised and passionate way by listeners who felt strongly enough that their song should be chosen as the World's Favourite Song. It proved to be a tight race to the top...

peeps,
with a skewed(in statistical terms) voting such as this, i am surprised they didn't throw out the outliers!!! both RKT and VM should have been thown out and the poll re-evaluated... dil included as well...
what an insult to polling and can BBC ever save its face..well then ... didn't they use patriotism to save their face...their lies the proof of the British megalomania....chose the better of their enemies didn't they??????

"yaaro, if you click on "Listen" there, the VM piece is from the ARR album."
bb! pls dont tell such kasapaana seithi to yaaro. He wont be able to sleep tonight. Dont worry yaaro, tat was not by ARR. Sleep tight...
If it is the ARR version of VM, then we have 2 songs by ARR in the top ten.
"From the film "Dil Se", Chaiyya Chaiyya is performed by the Punjabi folk singer Sukhinder Singh. The musical director of the film A R Rahman, is one of Bollywood's top music directors"
Like I said, ARR needs no BBC Polls for introduction.
"I think it is atrocious that after so many votes were cast for RKT, they would call the movie tali-party. Ridiculous, to say the least. a simple google search would have told them the correct name."
You are right, bb. They probably spelled Thalapathi the way it wud be spelled if they pronounced it. Someone shud send them an email to correct them.
But well, since it looks like all the Tamil media already called for celebrations, it's not too late to continue celebrating for RKT at no4. I mean, it's not a big deal if ARR or some other top MD from IFM gets to the top 10. But it is something to celebrate to see IR's name there. (In all honesty).

Introduction? I think, BBC gave introduction by saying: "A R Rahman, is one of Bollywood's top music directors"... for others to know that is a Bollywood MD :-)

WN,
I knew that song was in the album-but that was the original version and tune we hear at 5.58 in the morning before All india radio starts.I dont whether you woke up early enough if you were ever in India to listen to that.if you did,now that is what I call patriotism!
ARR fans made a mistake in voting for vande mataram-they should have voted for Maa tujhe salaam, which I must admit,is a fantastic song-I will be deemed musically deaf if I did say anything to the contrary.
To be fair enough,Bankim CC was the writer of this song-any attribution of VM's success completely to ARR(which was would have happened) would have been a insult to BCC.After all this song has been there for more than 50 years even before ARR was born and was the popular song of the newly independent India.
As I said,of the top 5 songs,4 reached home riding on the nationalistic bandwagon-except RKT.we must thank Vijay for creating awareness.

Yaaro, watever it is, I am glad u had a good sleep. ;)
But i must say, I like ur idea of patriotism. I woke up every morning to sing Majulah Singapura for 12 years. I must be really patriotic.:)
"ARR fans made a mistake in voting for vande mataram-they should have voted for Maa tujhe salaam"
Why is it so hard for everyone here to digest tat most ARR fans knew all along tat VM was not attributed to ARR? If ARR fans did vote for VM, it wasnt to give some artificial boost to ARR (our man doesnt need tat), but probably to topple RKT...and well, if tat was the case they succeeded, sad to say.
I posted tis in the other thread on Dec 11:
"Getting caught up wit pointing fingers for poll rigging, it is being taken for granted how many genuine voters cud possibly be voting for VM. I'm sure ppl like hehehe who have been sieving thro ARRYG msgs may have noticed tat it was a general consensus among ARR fans, from the beginning, tat if anyone was interested in seeing ARR's name at the top of the polls, they'd go for CC rather than VM, as VM was not attributed to ARR then, nor is it now.
Hence, if ARR Fans were the ones rigging, they'd have gone for CC."
In fact, the moderator of the ARRYG announced tat VM was not credited to ARR right at the very beginning when talk of tis polls started brewing.
But IR fans cudnt fathom tat their rivals cud be so relaxed abt tis silly polls, and kept painting pictures of a ARR composed VM toppling their beloved RKT. Now, as if it is some brand new info, they r getting unduly excited abt the fact ARR's name is not one of Various Artistes tho we've known this all along.

btw, the poms have some gall to say tat RKT is from Tali-Party. I hope some dumb westerners dont think Tali-Party is affiliated to Taliban!
They didnt have to search far. When RKT was at no 1 spot, they published tis article:
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/music/2500359.stm
"A Tamil song is currently in the lead in a poll to find the most popular tune in the world, beating tracks by the Beatles, Queen and Led Zeppelin.
The song, Rakkama Kaiya Thattu, features in Indian film Thalapathi, made in 1991. It was written by a film lyricist called Valee and the music composed by Ilayaraja."
And to further add to it, have a look at their latest article:
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/music/2591357.stm
Apart from the list of top ten songs, they didnt mention one word abt IR or RKT in the main article, tho they mentioned Cher at no.6.
I spose, wit 6 of the top 10 songs coming from the Indian subcontinent, they must have got pretty bored.

WN,
this is not about you-You are responding as if it is you who alone represents entire ARR fan base!I did not vote for the poll more than once-I am talking about the fans who voted in hundreds singlehandedly.I am sure you voted only once.
why would you try to prop up the classical Vande mataram-they thought Maa thuje salaam was going to be show cased to the world-whereas it has backfired when the original vandematram is sitting there proudly in slot number 2!so the composer for original VM is the composer for the second popular song on the planet.I wonder who he is?
