Hi All,
Apologise for this sudden and unusual thread.
We have regular contributors and silent watchers in these forums, some new, some have been there since inception of the forums. Today we have a lot of new faces and there will be more.
I am just curious to know about which year/month did you join in the discussions here..
..I still remember chancing upon newtfmpage in Jan 2001 and sparking off a war in the 'IR's latest' thread unknowingly without realizing the ongoing IR-ARR fans blood feud ! A few of the DFers who were around (and are still)around were : kiru (the audiologist), bharath (a new generation fan), swami (sangeetha vidwan and once Bharath's nemesis!), common friend (a balanced fan), ambleen, eden(who got hurt when I said that he was still stuck in the 70s!), Karthik S (the music dealer who can make out a fake from an original!)...and a lot more interesting people that I have not mentioned !
Could you guys/gals tell us when and how you joined the discussions here and also narrate any funny incidents or discussions that had happened ?

I was searching for some tamil songs to listen from the web. The search engine I was using at that time brought me to this newsgroup. I started as Gyani, Bhagavathar, now I go with Aswathama, Ravana, and Naradha. I like to participate in healthy and constructive arguments. Sometimes I had observed silently. Lately there are lot of mud slinging on IR. So I took the negative stand to tear the masquerade worn by hyped MDs. I really enjoy this forum. If we don't take things seriously and go with the flow we can have more fun.

Folks..I want to thank the admins/founders of this site. This is a very good idea. I have been here for the past 4 yrs or more. For a person, who did not know what a rAgam or thAlam is ..I have come a long way in appreciating music (still more needs to be learnt). I am even tempted to learn/practice music, but my feeble brain, gets tired even with a little bit of software engineering during the day :) So oflate, I have not been very active, because of busy work/personal life. But I make it a point to visit atleast a few threads. Music has been a very intellectual, stress relieving past time to me. After the arrival of ARR, I have gotten curious to sound engineering details and have played with freeware music/recording software with the help of knowledgeable people here (like rjay). I have made quite a lot of friends because of this forum. Also, I have been exposed and had the opportunity to meet/discuss with tamil scholars (like Chandra) through Forum Hub.
People who helped me understand music better are srinath (who pointed out the bass scores in IR's music), rjay, srikanth and folks like shashi and geetha who helped me appreciate ARR much more than the first impression I had of him. I am quite amazed at the music/singing talents who frequent here like MS, rajaG etc and lyric-writing capabilities of udhayA. I will be happy to see one day, all these folks making it really big in their fields of interest.

Hello udhaya, I am a new member of this forum. I was just going through this thread and saw your post.
Although you maybe a veteran memmber of this truly wonderful website, I must say I am completely disgusted at the manner in which you have glorified your misbehaviour. And the stinkingly abusive language you have used. I also must say that the cheapness in these statements of yours is many miles above that found in the banal IR-ARR arguments that are to be seen here today,as also in the boring kattai discussions between raghuvaran and isaipriyan.
And yet you only seem to glorify your own misbehaviour and ridicule others when they haven't posted sensibly! I know all of the above makes no difference to me, as I have been here just for a few months. But I can't bear double standards! And glorified double standards above all that.
Many Thanks!

Cosmisican:
Good that you started this thread.
Hi guys,
Its been some 10 to 12 months since I posted here first. My first query here was what happened to IR's symphony, for which I din't get an answer yet.
I came accross this forum and to my surprise I found ARR bashing all over. I could not digest ARR's bashing all over. I did not want to revert back by IR bashing, becuse I have great regards for IR . 90% of times if I listen any music I listen only ARR. I never confused with both IR or ARR. It just that naturally/automatically my choices goes to ARR. I have a 700MB of IR collection too..but very selective one.
This forum gave me lot of info about IR which I would have not known all thru my life had I not come here.
I started my first thread comparing KJY and SPB (I am his fan..but not like some here...I keep this with myself.). That thread for a super flop.
Then I got into problems when I said that I came to know that in my school they use to sing VM on Mondays....(knightmares... those days).
Then there was some athi...some war with him/her...
I used to post with a nick name SK. There was an other sk also, so I changed to CommonFriend (The name does not imply any meaning...(don't get confused).

Udhaya was using his personal email to correspond one-to-one with this jack-ass. The only double-standards Udhaya uses is when he has to talk with people who can reason and people who can't!
Kiru:
Thanks for the acknowledgement, man! It used to be really amusing when after a long program some friend walks up to me and asks, "What pieces were you playing? I couldn't hear your guitar at all". And all I can say is, "Thanks! I probably did a good job, then!" :-)
