It will be nice if some MD let her sing all the songs in a movie so that she can show off her talent.

i'm a die hard fan of Uma Ramanan. guys, i'm absolutely happy to see u guys have already started the topic.
u can't call one song of UR as a stunner. all songs of uma ramanan are stunners.

Siddharth,

Song No.1 is from Enga Thambi (good beats).
Song No.2 is not by UR, by Shobana.
Song No.3 is from Ennagugil Nee Irunthal.

Of course, I also like her voice very much.

UR also sings in Sri Ranga along with Shobana and SPB. Another gem of her is Nil Nil from Paattu Paadavaa

Have you guys observed the following
Most (almost all) UR songs have been for IR.
They're either solos/duets with KJ Yesudas (exception Poothu poothu kulungudhadi (from Kumbakkarai thangayya) & Yeleylang kiliye (from Pandi naattu thangam) both with SPB
They're female duets (Amudhey thamizhey - kovil pura what a gem?
.... Ponnalla poovalla poruL alla selvangaL ....
An offbeat song would be Thanniyila nananja (Keladi kanmani)

I just checked in Swaramalika website too. The website says I was right. All the songs posted by me was sung by Uma Ramanan. or may be both websites are wrong. Somebody can help.

As far as I remember, Geethanjali has no songs by Uma., All the four songs you have mentioned are by IR and K S Chitra.,
En uyir Neethaane is by K J Yesudoss and Jency., I am not sure about Vizhiyorathuk Kanavu.,
Maalaiyil Yaaroo is by Swarnalatha., IMO, her best song in TFM :-)

UR another greatest gift of TFM (IFM- Indian Film music, in general).

wow! aanandha raagam, manjaL veyil, amudhae thamizhae, kanmani nee vara kathirundhaen beautifully rended by her.

i think IR has asked UR to sing many of his difficult high pitched songs. because, imho, UR voice does not sound awkward in high-pitched difficult songs. voices of even my favourite female singers PS and SJ (esp. SJ) does sound (bit)awkward in high-pitched difficult songs. ofcourse PS and SJ are such that they can phoo-phoo any difficult songs, they are have sung more difficult song, but may be not high pitched songs.

this observation of mine is totally IMHO, i neither take any survey nor do i have classical knowledge. this is what i feel based on my feeble knowledge in TF.

pundits and statisticians please clarify if i have gone wrong.

yes ramki...actually it seems i was correct in the first posting and i unnecessarily posted the second typo stuff.

As you mentioned i was indeed referring to amudhae thamizhae azhagiya mozhiyae song.

Ennuyir Neethane...was by KJY and UR...confirms Raja Info Center. Look this site for all other Rajas songs of UR.

I am sure about Jency's voice in 'Ennuyir neethaanee', It is defenitely not Uma.,

I have seen lots of mistakes in Raja Info Center list, For example, in the page you have given, There are three songs (atleast) which are not by Uma RamaNan.,

1. Mannavaa - Walter VeTRivel - Sunantha
2. VeLLi nilavee - Walter VeTRivel - SPB, Sunantha
3. Ennuyir Neethaane - Priya - KJY, Jency

i too feel ennuyir needhaanae is sung by Jency. the typical jency's slight-nasal touch can be identified when she sings nee yaaro ingu naan yaaro vandhu saerdhomae inbam kanbhomae.

if it turns out to be uma then three cheers to her mimicry ability :-)

The song is from 'Nandhavanath theru', SPB sings almost the whole song, female voice comes only for half a minute or so, I remember seeing 'Sunantha' in the cassette, Not sure.
