Should IR Re-Master His Old Composition

IR has thousands of song collections in his credit
that put him as a legend among the south Indian
music industries. Should he re-Master or re -Make the same composition to current trend.
Example if you listen to 'Senthura Poove ' of 16 Vayithele, it is a execellent piece , if IR take the same note and enriched the music , like some western musician do , and give to his fans .. there are host of of his fans willing to go for it. But the answer is not always yes. Some feel his music is a nostalgic feeling of a particular era. What is your opinion should IR do it if he thought it is good idea.

  yes definately.
  lots of songs i would add to this list.
  1. chinna pura ondru
  2. ilamai enum poongatru..
  so on & on..
  i am not able to get any record with the original richness. the output is so noisy with old drumbeats.
  he need to take those songs and redo it with the current technology and give a quality output.
  He doesnt need to do all the songs at once, but do it in 10s or 12s at a time..
  this would be a great idea..

  sorry folks IR wont do that at anytime,he need not
  because he is such a divine music composer that he does not differentiate within his music i still beleive he has a lot more stuff to pump out,it would be great if he started composed more symphoneys which will show the world what he really is.

  I think if Raja just take some of old the germs and re - make them , it will fulfill the appetitte
  of 80's Music lovers whom still longgin for a good composition and it will be a good music serve
  to new listeners on the richness of IR music
  which deserve thorough praise

  If you happen to here the latest news .. ARR himself started to re- make his old composition..... may be end of his source..nothing much
  to tap.
  Why not IR... where his career span to 4 decades with hits..70's 80's
  and 90's and 2000's and he had very reason to do so by enriching the
  music.

  What wrong for him to re-make his own composition. I know the
  genuinity o fIR. But it is his property and many of us here want to
  here songs like in Uthiri Pookal , Keladi Kanmani , many many others
  to re - digitize and have the impact of present days. he can have the
  same alblum with the label re-digitise and put in sale as 20 songs for
  a CD price. I tell you the one who own the right will be a millionaire
  ....
  I think the only contraint for IR is the time....

  yeaH...IR SHOULD SERIOUSLY THINK ABOUT RE-MASTERING HIS OLDIES BECAUSE I'M SURE IN FUTURE HE CAN'T COMPOSE GOOD SONGS ANY MORE. tHIS IS THE ONLY WAY TO BE IN THE RECKONING. hE SHOULD ATLEAST DO THAT INSTEAD COMPOSING NEW SONGS WHICH ARE NOT WORTH LISTENING EVEN ONCE.

  there is no wrong in recomposing his old tunes as you long to hear his old compositions i beleive he has still the capability to compose even more everlasting compositions as he did in sethu.

  I heard the Tamil Version of "Naina Bole Naina" of Aur Ek Prem Kahani. It's in
  movie Johnny. Honestly I liked the Orchestration in the Hindi version than in
  the Tamil version - however the tune is same for the solo in both the versions.
  Indeed there's hardly anything of orchestration in the tamil version of it.
  I think when Raaja remakes his old tunes, he really adds an extra beauty. I am
  looking forward for him to remake some of his old gems. Do you agree with me?

  I beg to differ with you...though the recording quality of `Sadma' is very good (better than Moondram pirai), IMHO the songs are spoilt due to minor changes in orchestration:-(
  
  If they do with keeping ALL the notes & instruments same (if possible, the players as well), then the re-mastering will be a bonanza! Improvisation? Nop...

  I understand your point - Tamil version of Yeh Jindagi song in Sadma is an example. But when it's remastered you tend to make it more contemporary. I don't mean contemporary as to compare with someone in the field. However remastering helps Raaja to evolve over time and make all the audiences to grow with his music. Like the teenagers of 80s ( like me ) were grown up listening to his music, he should make his music more contemporary ( by whatever way as best sound engg., remastering his old tunes etc., ). This will help even today's and tomorrow's teenagers to have a taste what's good in Ilayaraaja and why the oldies like him more. I don't mind him doing contemporary music as he is always unique in his composition style. Do you agree??????

  i think that remastering IR old songs might take away the charm in it, raja can still make great songs than the one he might have created,sincerely even IR might decline to this idea of remastering as it would be taken as a sign of his talents getting drained
