  is there alot of expectations from this movie?cuz its suppose to run 3 shows here and a kamal movie gets 2 shows in houston.i dunno why the hell they gonna run an ajith movie for 3 shows over 2 days when his anjaneya was HORRIBLE. sum of the songs are alright.its got sneha in it thats a bonus.seems like hes sum kind of warrior from the trailor always swinging ard a katana blade

  With the recent gossips about Vikram and Jyotika in tamilcinema.com and bottom news in Junior Vikatan masala section, and the very mediocre songs (except the marudha malai song)from Harris, it will be interesting to watch how this movie does in box office.

  Just came back from watching Arul.......A REAL DISSAPOINMENT!!!!!!!!!! Both movie & music SUCKS BIG TIME!!!!!!!!! ARUL IS DHOOL+SAAMI...... Music is a hangover from Saami & Kovil..... HJ just recyled his SAAMI BGM in ARUL....Too bad HJ has lost his music talent!!!!!

  sorry lah i have brain tumor. brain of size of tumor. that why i say like this lah. i hate arr lah. he no do good music. but many like him lah. after arul flop i very disappoint. i not accept hj is bad lah. i no guts to face arr fans with so small brain and even smaller that lah. he he. they give good point but i no have any point. i wat do lah? that why i post in tenson lah. all that i only do lah. sorry lah.

  If it is Dhool + Sami...it must be real good then.....the question is how well have they mixed it...it is ok if it is the old wine in a new bottle...as long as the bottle is new..;-)
  
  When we watched Gilli....we didn't like many of the scenes ....my family thought ...they were silly and unbelievable. It wasn't a great film in terms of content, songs, performance and even packaging but one thing we were able to see was it was "pacy"....I have no doubt it is the screenplay which has captured the audience.
  
  How is this aspect in ARUL?

  C~P...what I meant was both had good formulae and entertainment value.....so if it has got the same entertainment value & style...then it should be watchable. I am certainly not expecting a classic like Pithamagan in ARUL....atleast I don't expect it from the Vikram & Hari combo..;-)
  
  For that matter...if you look at most Rajini films from the days of Manithan...they all look and feel the same....didn't we watch them all. To some extent....it can also be said of Kamal films...especially all his recent comedy flicks. If you leave them out...he resorts to violence in villages and veechariva as in Devarmagan & Virumaandi. But...at least he tries to be different! All Vijayakanth movies from the days of Pulan Visaranai has the same feel too. Whether we like it or not...we have type cast our heroes ...and it's hard for them to change.
  
  Anyway...coming back to the topic....any news on ARUL....I have this funny feeling that we are going thru a period when the happenings are going to have a lasting impact on the next two decades of tamil cinema. The success and failure of ARUL & PERALAGAN are key!!!! The success of Gilli & Ethiri too cannot be ignored. But...this month of May is going to be a very important month in the career of Vikram & Surya. Against all odds (Songs...not a hit straightaway & Gilli getting a head start & without Vivek) if Vikram pulls this one.....he certainly deserves the 'Numero Uno' position. If Surya pulls thru Peralagan.....it will become...a healthy competition!!!

  The film will be a hit irrespective of what kind of a story(?) it is... Jus for the Vikram Hari combo and the really funny (though they're not meant to be that) punch lines.
  
  But does it deserve to be a hit? Has anyone who's seen the film, really felt from his heart that it should be a hit?

  Curses,
  Today morning my friend buzzed my cell only to say Arul can't be as big as Saamy.
  He was disappointed with the movie and this comes from a Vikram fan.
  
  I feel this movie will definetly recover the costs but we will have to wait to see if its a blockbuster!

  Well...reviews just shows you that the person reviewing is dissappointed because there is nothing new...but has any of Rajini's films have been different?.....the important thing is whether it was entertaining and a good time pass. We are not going to see Arul to get ourselves enlightened!!!
  
  On that front...I am already hearing reports that relatively speaking.....it is a lot better than Gilli....now if Gilli is a Super Hit...then...Arul..??????????

  i saw the film yesterday&the truth is it gave me a big headache which lasted till the time i slept in the night.The main drawback is the story,screenplay,music&comedy.I mean we saw Vikram outwit his opponents with a combination of brain&brawn in Dhool&Saami with Saami being the superior product.Arul has the same concept but is very inferior.The sceenplay goes nowhere in the first half,the second half is better but the opponent(Kollam Thulasi) is not strong.Hari should be blasted for wasting Pasupathi like this.Such a fine actor coming after a brilliant effort in Virumaandi &wasted like this,CRIMINAL.The music is a huge huge letdown&is a cacophony of sounds.Sorry HJ.Vikram also looks a little disinterested&Vadivelu's Comedy!doesn't bring any smiles. Overall Arul is a below average film.Considering the huge opeaning it would have got,the costs might be recovered but it is unlikely to reach Gilli heights.Even Ethiri will not be affected.
