Shankar is a Fool because he didn't take A.R.Rahman for ANNIYAN. Shankar-A.R.Rahman Combination is always a Hit.All people who read this Message go to this Pages, listen to the Songs there and then tell me if Shankar is a Fool or not.

  ARR had dates for Jaggubhai not for Anniyan that sounds weird. don't you think? Shankar is taking Anniyan for 1.5 years and would be releasing next tamil new year. ARR would have scored music for him but clearly it shows difference of opinion.

  FYI, he is still composing, may be not be within your district or state. Ofcourse you cant expect such a talented person to be restricted within a small part of the world.

  come on people ... Sankar is not a fool but just a business man. He left ARR because he is not popular anymore as he used to be. So, he chose the current favorite of the masses. If Sankar is a fool, then you can't find a worse fool than Mani Ratnam; just listen to what he got from IR until Thalapathy.

  ARR didn't lose the popularity because he went for international projects. He has been doing his usual quota of four or five films every year, but the difference is that they don't make any impact on the masses in the past four years. May be his hardcore fans will listen to them but not the general public. Don't fool yourself by saying that he is busy with international projects etc. He is just one of the SIX composers for LOTR, who knows what he will be used for, may for recording.

  ss,ARR's Roja simply overtook all the previos IR albums with MR,do u want me to mention his releases with MR after roja??Bombay,Thiruda2,Iruvar(Amazing album,IR can never score such BGM & songs like that),Dil Se,Alaipayuthey (amazing,same score with hindi & also both won Filmfare awards),Kannathil (National Award winning album eventhough its not popular among the mases),AE very very high class album,compare Yaakai thiri & apadi podu)apadi podu is such cheap song with copy & paste tune & simple lyrics!

  Dinesh, ARR can overtake IR's great melodies only in his/your dreams.. Roja became a big hit because of ARR's recording quality..In that sense, it was a trend setter. Tunes were very ordinary (just hum chinna chinna aasai without the music...) Maybe, you started listening to music only after Roja :) so stop comparing that with IR's. Listen to idhaya koil, geethanjali (telugu)...

  Iruvar songs were heavily influenced by old
  MSV/IR songs.. It's sad that you couldn't see that.
  
  Pookodiyin punnagai, kannai katti kolladhey and ayirathil naan oruvan - What's go great about these songs? MSV & IR have done such songs so many times..
  
  Narumugaye - Deva composed a similar song 'thanga magan indru' in Batsha which came before Iruvar.. The only difference is that Narumugaye had better lyrics. Iruvar is such an ordinary album with an ordinary BGM.. and you call that Amazing?!
  
  Yakkai thiri - this is not even a song.. This song is an example of an extreme use of techno stuff. That 'fanaaaa' in the background is streched with the help of software.. The swaras towards the end.. is all wrong.. Ask someone who is good in classical music..

  I think you should first listen to the songs that IR did for mani ratnam until thalabathy.. if you can't appreciate the songs of mouna ragam, idhayakoil, nayagan.. man...what can I say?... how old are you, btw?? Rent mouna ragam and nayagan video and listen to the BGM.. then you will know what BGM really means..

  IR's melodies are sometimes killed by overuse of Tabla like Nelavey vaa - Mouna Ragam.
  Pattu kalaigyan padinal pattu than - Idhya kovil onnum avlo haunting melody kedaiyathu.
  ARR - recording quality analogy ya vitta vera yethuvum pudusa illaya?

  Thats precisely the effect ARR needed. The movie is the true story of MGR. Therefore the songs in which MGR appears in the movie should sound like old songs in which MGR really appeared. I am glad that you accepted it.
  
  I agree that Yakkai Thiri is techno stuff. But remember the lyrics by Vairamuthu was a poem which he wrote years back. ARR had to tune the song to the lyrics (which doesnt happen these days). And the song picturised in a discotheque should sound techno which is precisely what happened.
  
  And I am sure if offered a chance (which would never happen), IR would never be able to compose a song like Yakkai Thiri. Ofcourse the fanatics can now say there is no need for IR to accept such a 'cheap' offer as he is very 'busy' with his symphony. But the truth is he can never do that.

  What abt kaadal rojave, tamizha tamizha and pudhu vellai mazhai, hum them without music. If you truely feel that they r extraordinary melodies and tunes, all I can say is I feel sorry for you.
  
  You r just pointing out one song (which to me seems pretty good even without the music) and you are making an argument, which is really not fair. During the 80s, many of IRs movies used have one very big hit song and rest just OK songs. since YOU decided to pick just one song from a movies to sample it, see if you will like to pick just "nila adhu vanaththu mele" from nayagan when you should be picking thenpandi chemayile and what if you pick "dindugal" song from raasayya when you should be picking kaadala vanile. please be fair in your argument.
