Let me start this one.(It had been there previously pls. forgive me!)
"Ezhu swarangalukkul ethanai paadal..
Ithaya surangathul ethanai kelvi...
Vaazhum manitharukkul ethanai salanam.."
Wow! Beautiful voice!

Naaz, thank you very much for posting the reviews and the translations.
Priya, you did not ask too much. I was going to ask for kik's permission to upload those songs in my website. I decided to wait because I didn't want to steal his thunder.
kik, I will send you an email soon.

Neel D, you are very welcome. Did you look into my request? Also, if you are not busy, do try and tune in on Sunday from 8-10pm PDT for the Tamizh New Year's Special Programme on Rhythm's India. I have decided to keep make the show an all-tamizh songs (no telugu) from 70s-early90s compilation.

as usual u have quoted me out of context and cribbed incessantly. U have avoided questions asked. U are also ignorant of the inherent contradictions in your posts. U have passed ethnic remarks, attacked me personally with snobbish word. In short anybody who disagrees with you is prejudiced. Anybody who is not part of your cult-following is prejudiced, jaundiced, short-sighted and so on.
Thanks for that. But i like the way u avoid difficult questions. Its typical of u. Bye and best of luck!

If MDs dont take VJ it has to be politics right. Oh what a detestable world!! And u keep using third party endorsements...then what happened? Anyways....you can continue your idol worship. No probs.

On second thoughts Naaz....I am sorry....I missed the reviews you had written/pasted down there. Well I honestly did not know that it was so. I should have been more patient. I still dont agree with all what u might mean, but I'll attribute it to my personal choice. I will make an attempt to listen to those. if I like them, its my opinions and if i dont its still mine. Yes, i dont think i should pass my opinions as facts, though I have the right to like what i do. While opinions are a matter of personal taste, its ultimately the MDs who decide. If birju maharaj's sang with her for so many songs, there sure was something in it. Maybe I dont see it always.
You are partly right, I should have been more humble. To err is humane, and to accept one's mistakes is humane too. yes, I sure have the courage to accept and admit and possibly correct those mistakes. I hope u will forgive me. But I do say u have opened my eyes. Yes, twas me who missed the difference between "personal choice" and "critique".
I also wish I hadn't written out those two posts up there! In the true sense, I must say thanks to you. Do drop me in a mail if u wish!

was the song " sriraman sridevi" from dowry kalyanam discussed. The lyrics were good . three different perspectives (sister looking for a sridevi for raman, brother looking for a raman for sister & elders seeing raman-sridevi has been described) Vani was quite melodious in this song.In case it was discussed earlier ignore the post.

Neel D - I logged on to your VJ site to listen this morning...All the songs seem to crack/crackle at every second word...Is this something to do with the winamp player? Or is it from the source? Please let me know.
Geetham Vandhadhu - Yaaru MD? The song has a compostional element (particularly at the "kula maadhu..." rise, followed by the "aahaah..aaa" bit) which reminds me of a few Rajesh Roshan creations.

AVR - We can all be impulsive and irrational. That's human - just like laughing, crying and being hungry.
Thanks for your post. Let's put it behind us, ok?
Have a good one.

Naaz, I don't know who that MD is. I am guessing it is MSV based on the facts that it is a Sivaji Ganesan movie and that VJ has three songs in the movie.
I think cable modem can slow down if there is too much traffic. That is probably what happened to you this morning.

Are the other songs from the film any good?

Thanks you for your new year wishes, Balaji. Hope you have a good one too.
Neel - Thanks for adding Asaiulla Roshakkara Mama to you song-list on the VJ page. A fast-paced, yet clearly enunciated, breezy number. It let loose such a rush of memories!

Nenjai thottu sollungal.Does that song deserve "fast-paced,breezy etc.."?

Edi poongodi posting? I don't remember that OISG?
Entha Padaththuu Paatu Adhu? I have not heard that one at all.
Regarding the Aasaiulla Roshakkara song - It is a fast-paced song (momentum). It is breezy (frivolous) in its tune. Have I used other qualifiers such as "extraordinary," or "fine" or simply "superb", or "amogham" "arpudham"...Yenna OISG, thappa sollitaena?
Memories vandhu Moondru Mugam - chennai Abirami Theatre adichchupudichchu ticket vaangi 4-lavathu row-la kastapattu utaarndhu paratha padam. Moondru Mugam-a screen-il? Yethaniyanaiyo Mugaganal...

From: Mr. O (@ 64.105.35.27) on: Mon Feb 18 03:54:37 EST 2002
A mention of 'Edi poongodi' by M.R. Vijaya (by O_IS_G in another thread) has rekindled memories of my vacation days. Typical 'varusham 16' type of setting (yearly reunion with my cousins), TV being non-existant, radio used to be life-saver and the heavenly 'ungaL viruppam' music used to be the thiruppaLLi ezhuchchi for the late risers.'Edi poongodi' often found a place in the programme.

NeelD, a request. I have been looking for a mp3/wav version of "Muthu muthu therottam", a very good melody from Aaniver by VJ. If you or Naaz have that song, can you please upload it?

Neel, thank you too! It felt wonderful to present those songs. Many tamizh listeners called to say they'd missed hearing good TFM on the radio - and were grateful for those lovely tunes. I had a real ball!
(Hope the noise/static etc was to a minimum.)

Neel, I'd heard the Thaliya?Salangaiya song before - I just didn't click in with the beginning "Mangala Kannagi." If it had been mentioned as the title song, I would have recognised it immediately. Thanks for adding it to your site, BTW.
(The film starred Vanisree and Muthuraman, right??)

Naaz: The program last night was good. Couple comments - I thought you said at the beginning that you were going to present a mix of 70s and 80s songs. The numbers seemed to be heavily skewed to the 80s - of course I'm partial to the 70s which had better lyrics. Did you say "naan kandEn naan kandEn" or "maan kandEn, maan kandEn"? May have been the noisy connection - but I thought you said the former.
- From: Naaz (@ 24.76.127.63)
on: Tue Apr 16 00:19:28 EDT 2002
I did say Maan Kandaen Maan Kandaen - As I had it all written out, kik! :-))
About the 70s - I know what you mean - but my music collection from that time is so scratchy that I could not use any of the good tunes (Except a few MSV numbers.) But have hope - I will try to make up for all that sometime - maybe Deepavali? By then I hope to have a good collection of 70s songs - no static - all ecstatic. Sariya?
(In my defence: I did play some nifty tunes from the 80s - no aatha, yamma, kotanguchi kinda songs, yeah?)
Thanks for tuning in - and I hope you still managed to get something out of it all.

Neel D, If you did the totalrecorder thingy, could you please check on kik's query - Naana? Maana? The time - particularly towards the end - in the programme, was so busy with phone calls, cues, PSAs etc - that I might just have rushed and got that bit all mixed up. But it is good to bear in mind - and correct such glitches next time around. I guess, only kik and you tuned in...But the Sri Lankan tamizh community from here was simply delighted. Yellam Inba Mayam!!
