About a recent concert with TMS and PS in Chicago

I am a singer in a musical band called 'Agni' in canada. The band is little over one year old but performed many shows in canada and in the U.S. Two weeks ago we had the opportunity to perform a show with T.M.S and P.suseela in chicago. They both sang really well even at this age. P.suseela's voice was so young and refreshing. I spent 2 memorable days with them, chatting, practising etc..   naga: i am listening to iLaya nilA. you have sung quite well. (except for a small hitch in the middle of both charaNams). the overall quality of performance is good (if we leave out the over-enthusiastic drummer :-)) and the guitar in the second interlude). good job.

  Most of the he instrumentalists very young (below 18) and they are quite enthusiastic. The band will be perfoming a show again with TMS and PS next month in new jersey. The date is not confirmed yet. The is purely for TMS and PS and no new songs. We may get a chance to do a show in pittsburgh this year but not sure.

  Can you please list out the songs that were sung in the light music show?
  
  Am feel very good to know that you spent good time with the legends for 2 days. It should be highly memorable.
  
  BTW, I was in Chicgao in 1999. So Know the places around to some extent. Where was the program and how many of our Indians attended? If I had been there, I won't have missed it.

  The show was organized by feTNA at Governor's university stadium. About a 1000 people were in the audience. Vai co, Sathyaraj and kushbu were the chief guests. TMS, PS and TMS's son Paulraj sang about 15 old songs. These songs were selected by TMS himself. 1. accham enbathu 2. pullanguzhal kodutha 3. chittu kuruvi mutham 4. unakku mattum unakku mattum 5. adi ennadi raakkamma 6. thangathile oru 7. naalai muthal kudikka 8. javvadhu medai 9. pesuvathu kiliya 10. maalai pozhuthin 11.unnai arindhal plus 5 more duets which I can't remember right now. I will let you know later.
  
  And we did about 10 new songs
  1. kotta pakkum - (Did for kushbu) 2. humma humma
  3. enge enathu kavithai 4. shakalaka baby 5. minsara poove 6. thaniye 7. oru deivam thandha poove 8. oh podu.. 9.uppu karuvadu 10.Hello Mr ethirkatchi
  
  I did songs 1, 5 and 8. We actually practised about 25 songs for TMS/PS and 15 songs for us but due to time constraints, we couldn't them all.

  Your drummer is quite peppy with the "real" feel. he just rolls! his rides are done so well....

  Unfortunately yes. We did plan to do 'madai thirandhu', 'ponn maalai pozhuthu', 'ninnukkori' etc but we were asked to wind up due to time constraints.. I was a little upset myself as I am big fan of IR...

  I attended the chicago show. Agni, you were amazing! The dancers added a touch of spice to the spectacular show given by Agni! Props to both the singers and instrumentalists!

  I watched the PS TMS show in Chicago. It was quite good. PS's voice was good, TMS was not quite as good (age catching up with him, I guess). TMS's son's voice sounded just like TMS in his prime. Does any one know what he does for a living? I mean, is he in any way connected to the music industry?
  
  The Agni show started after the PS/TMS show at 11 PM. Unfortunately it was too late, and so we could not watch it!
  
  I heard a rumor that the Agni troup will be performing again in Chicago. Naga, is that true?

Agni orchestra will be backing the legendsTMS and P Susheela on August 3, 2002 at the Cross Road Middle School auditorium - South Brunswick - Major Road - Manmouth Junction - New Jersey. Agni singers won't be singing this time. It is an exclusive TMS, P Susheela and TMS' son Paalraj show.

  tigger: I dont know about that rumour... it will be nice if Agni gets a chance again. Then TMS Paulraj runs his own band in madras for the more than 15 years. I guess, he must be busy there. He does have a great voice like his father (young TMS, of course) but I don't know why our MDs dont use him.

  I have following REQUEST:
  
  If possible can we have the program made available in AVI or MPG(both video and audio) format. For good quality video, the program can be split into multiple files.
  
  Or atleast the mp3 version of audio.
  
  If there is already camcorder video it can be converted using PC. For any help, please email me.

  The program was in New Jersey. It was a great success. "Engae Nimmadhi" from pudhiya paravai was very well appreciated by both TMS and the audience. Actress Padmini was also present at the show. TMS honoured her by singing "Un kannil neer vazhindhaal" and then Padmini did some Bharatha Naatyam steps for "Nalam thaana?" and "Mannavan Vandhaanadi" by P Susheela. The Hi-light was Padmini danching dappankuthu for TMS' own creation on the stage. I wonder whether such a situation could ever be re-created in the future on any stage. AGNI was really previledged to be part of this exclusive event. TMS admired the smile on all Agni instrumentalists at all times. He said that usually the instrumentalists are very nervous when he is on the stage. He said that even he felt years younger to perform with a young group such as Agni. During his final song (Ennadi Raakkamma) he started to dance with the guitarists. We all returned back to Toronto with some wonderful memories.
