Let us be proud to say that we have got two great musicians Of India - Raja And Rahman - from TFI. They both put together are the BEST in the country. It is meaningless to compare them both as they both follow totally different styles of Music. While Raja concentrates on Tunes & Orchestration ARR focusses on Voice, Rhythms and Sound Effects. Ultimately both are great.
In fact ARR himself have compared his 3 yrs working with IR to University Training in Music in Malasia sometime back. In one of an old interview in Filmfare(I think 1992), he has even said that his most favorite MD is IR. On the other hand IR has presented his Golden Ring to ARR in a Function. There achivements are already recognized and are well known to all and nothing is going to happen by throwing mud on each other.
I am sure that nobody can be a hardcore IR or hardcore ARR fan, when it comes to Indian Music.
LETZ RETURN BACK TO HEALTHY DISCUSSION.

Coming to the title's discussion,[WILL IR GET WORLD CLASS RECOGNITION ?] I have few surprising queries - which (I think) hinders IR to cross the boundaries inspite of his great talent.
1. Some latest musical softwares like Frootyloop, Cakewalk etc. have excellent features to make a song sound great. While ARR & Harris resort to computerized music, why IR is not?
2. Today Sound Engineering Technology has raised to a great extent. Why IR not utlizing the services of popular sound engineers? (DTS effects of Pithamagan, Hey Ram etc were just average).
3. Remixing has been the latest trend in bollyhood. Why he is not resorting to remix some of his old hits and release as albums. (For info- An instrumental album remixed from old IR Songs released by TABUN, is selling @the rate of 100 CDs a day at Music World, Chennai.)
4. BGM Tracks of IR will alone speaks volumes of his calibre. Why no one attempted to release original tracks of his great BGMS in the form of Instrumental Albums.
5. New MD never waste there tunes and recycle it in all possible languages. Why IR has not tried to enter bollyhood with his greatest tunes. (Anand & Milind / Anu Malik etc have already proved that all there copied tunes of the Maestro were blastbusters in Hindi - eg TU TU TU TUTU TARA) Imagine the following songs in Hindi
- Keeravani...
- Puttukkal Podatha ...
- Enna Sattham Indha Neram ...
- Megam Kottattum...
- Ilam kadhir thulir vidum neram... and 100's more.
Will not all these little acts too, (if resorted) get him to fame to earn international recognition.

My Dear mnt,
I am a humble person. You will be surprised to know that I am 64 years old!!! I just wanted to know what response will I get if I criticise IR, because after VisRam , I am a great fan of IR. But what I got was brickbats instead of healthy response. Still I want to reconcile, not to fight !!!
Like Mr. solo has said IR and ARR are the 2 eyes of Tamil, now world Music scenario. It is high time we joined hands and glorified these great persons instead of indulging in meaningless in-fighting.
I hope you will all agree!

velji,
my last post wasn't a dig at you. I was just amused at the tactics some folks were using to 'get at you'.
I agree 100% with what you say about IR & ARR.
But you know, more often than not, one eye will have full '20' vision and the other will have lesser vision. I think the case is the same here. IR is the full '20' eye:-)
just kidding. don't get too serious now. :-)

Frenchman doles out Hindi songs
Pascal Heni was the biggest surprise of the Chandigarh Carnival show at Leisure Valley today. The first Occidental singer to have reinterpreted the popular songs of Hindi and Tamil cinema, Pascal doled out Hindi songs tonight, along with his group of trained performers.
Significantly, 11 songs presented by Pascal were earlier recorded with a big orchestra at Empire Studios, Mumbai, under the guidance of Indian music directors Laxmikant Pyarelal. This project was a collaboration with Jean-Phillippe Benoit, who later mixed and released the songs in France.
Singing in Hindi as if it was his mother tongue, Pascal naturally came to be called the Indian French. During rehearsals at the venue this afternoon, he mentioned how he began singing Tamil and Hindi numbers. “I stumbled upon Hindi music when I picked up some CDs and later discovered that the CDs contained Hindi songs. For 15 years, I have been feeding on the Hindi music, singing songs composed by R.D. Burman and Shankar Mahadevan with equal ease,” said the singer. Such was Pascal’s passion for Hindi and Tamil songs that he took lessons in Hindi from Usha Shastri and in Tamil from Raj de Candappa in Pondicherry. Pascal has also made presentations of Bollywood songs in Italy, France and now in India.
Pascal, who calls himself, “Pascal of Bollywood”, has recorded many Hindi songs, including “Zindagi ek safar” from film Andaz made in 1971; “Pyar do pyar lo” from Jaanbaz made in 1986; “Jo tumko ho pasand” (film Safar which had music by Kalyanji Anandji); “Haan diwana hoon main” (film Saranga made in 1960); “Chali chali re patang” (film Bhabhi; 1957); “An evening in Paris” (from film An evening in Paris; 1967), among others. He presented some of these numbers today.
Among the Tamil numbers that he sings are “Oh Rasikkum Simane” (from the film Parasakhti made in 1957). The music of this film was by T.R. Pappa; and Rajaavin Parvai from the film Anbe Vaa, made in 1966. This film had music by M.S. Viswanathan.
Pascal also presented the latest Bollywood hit, “Shaava shaava” from the film Kabhie Khushi Kabhie Gham. And this he did with admirable ease. — TNS

IR Fans are getting desperate seeing the kind of fame ARR is getting across the world.. so they think if his symphony is released then he will become world famous.
Not in this lifetime.

very interesting findings. I don't think IR and Thiruvasakam need to worry much about the Symphony' success since i feel the stage is being set in Europe right now as we speak ;--)! we got to learn a lot from the White man on how to build self esteem!!!!!

Dear Isai nanban
Thanks for that great information. It is a boost for Tamil music industry. I want to add this information on what you have provided. During the 1960s , I had a casual American friend in the US consulate who was a regular visitor to the drive in woodlands in gemini area where I frequented then.
We used to discuss music and he was a great fan of M.S. Viswanathan. he used to praise the Rajavin Parvai Raniyin Pakkam song and the song "Manithan enbaven Theivamagalam " from the film SUMAITHANGI. he used to tell that Tamil music industry had better western orchestration and cordination than the Hindi music directors who just mimicked western notes. In those days MSV brought to Tamil music great western hits subtly merging them in Indian tunes.
Thank you once again.Sir!
