AR Rahman is a very talented music director .He is still the no>1 music director now comparing to others.
he has only a enemy in his field that is Harris Jeyaraj .Harris jeyaraj is Rahman's enemy not because he is good than AR0 Rahman but he is a copycat which always copies Rahman's music.
For the example : -
1.Adithadi Appatha (samurai) is copied from Tom Karuvil Erunthom (Star)
2.Poove vay pesum pothu(12B) is copied from Kandukondaen Kandukondaen(movie same)
3.Oh Mama Mama...(minnale) is a Rahman's tune but it had stealed by Harris Jeyaraj when he works with AR Rahman .
so,thats all the evidence of Harris jayaraj the great copycat.
AR RAHMAN IS THE GREATEST MUSIC DIRECTOR IN THE WHOLE INDIA.

Stolen or not, I didnt find Oh Mama tat great and if it was stolen, it wasn't a worthy catch for the thief.
IMO, to credit ARR for Oh Mama wud be an insult to him.

ok. He was the highest tax paying MD in the whole of India for the last financial year. Go to the 10th Ann thread's old responses for the link to the relevant article. And his Lagaan swept major awards last year.
but why justify the obvious?

Highest tax paying MD, sweeping major awards, publicity, stage shows, tours, salary. How does this make a person no.1? Justify what that's obvious?
Is what the person produces goes straight into ur heart rather than ur ears not important to classify that person as the best or good or no.1?

Wow! what a pathetic immature thread?? ARR stole most of his tunes while he was working with IR. Esp. Ennavale song in Kadhalan is a rehash of Atho Mega Orvalam Atho Minnal Thoranam angey(IR song.

How dare you justify this WN?
Don't you know that in order to be no 1, there are certain criteria to be met...
1. Must be the least sought
2. Must be only sought by newbies and low-budget producers
3. Must have never been featured as a chart topper in the last five or so years
4. Must produce the greatest number of unlistenable songs and that at record speed
5. And most importantly must have a jalraa koottam
Now tell, does ARR qualify for all the above?
Change your mind, quick!

Some food for thought ---
quote - 'Reactions to music are so very personal. Beauty, after all, is in the eye - or the ear - of the beholder, so there's absolutely no need to be embarassed about your musical tastes. There is no such thing as a hierarchy of musical greatness - and claims to the contrary are pure snobbery. Works such as Vivaldi's The Four Seasons or Albinoni's Adagio are popular because they are enduring masterpieces, and there is no less value in appreciating these than there is in appreciating any other piece of classical music' unqoute.....
Stop this constant bickering, and learn to appreciate.....

Rahman plans harmony music concerts
Kolkata, Jan 9: Music wizard A R Rahman, who has taken the western world by storm with live performances, will make his debut under home arc lights with a series of concerts beginning here February 1.
With the who’s who of Indian playback joining him at the ‘Unity of Light’, 10-concert tour, Rahman would enthrall fans across the country and then fly off to charm audiences in the Middle-East, US and Canada.
S P Balasubramanium, Sonu Nigam, Udit Narayan, Hariharan, Shankar Mahadevan, Sukhwinder Singh, Sadhna Sargam, Vasundhara Das and Mahalaxmi Iyer would belt out a medley of film songs composed by Rahman, who would be at the keyboards.
"Events over the last two years across the world have stirred me from within to plan a concert with harmony as the underlying theme. And I am happy I have been able to plan this now,” Rahman told a news conference here today.
The composer, whose hit scores in ‘Roja’, ‘Bombay’, ‘Taal’ and ‘Lagaan’ have been on top of music charts for long, would also sing numbers from popular films and Andrew Lloyd Weber production, ‘Bombay Dreams’.
And he would also have something for the home crowd of Kolkata.
"The concert will have a few translated Rabindra Sangeet renditions. The rest should remain a surprise,” the unassuming musician said.

February date: City to host Rahman's first Indian concert
SMITA ROY CHOWDHURY
TIMES NEWS NETWORK[ FRIDAY, JANUARY 10, 2003 03:30:46 AM ]
Come February 1 and Kolkata will get to witness a musical experience
like never before. The king of modern Indian music - Allah Rakha
Rahman - is all set to present his first ever live concert in
India.
And no prizes for guessing where the maestro wants to flag off the
concert - it's our very own city of joy. "It's very
exciting for me
to start the concert here as this city has a lot of associations with
music. Also, this city is very new to me. This is my first trip
here," said Rahman, while announcing the concert at the ITC Sonar
Bangla on Thursday. The concert, titled the Unity of Light, will be
held at the Salt Lake Stadium. After Kolkata, it will tour various
Indian cities and will also travel to the US, Canada, the Gulf
countries and the Far East.
Speaking about the theme of the concert, Rahman said, "A lot of
things have happened in the last couple of years which have changed
the world in many ways. I want to express the sublime knowledge
through my music." Most of the music will be based on his film
soundtracks right from 1992. "I will present the tracks with
alternate arrangements for the music. So they will sound totally
different. There will also be tracks from Bombay Dreams, my other
albums and some Bengali songs."
The concert will feature other bigwigs like S.P. Balasubramanium,
Sonu Nigam, Udit Narayan, Hariharan, Shankar Mahadevan, Sukhwinder
Singh, Sadhna Sargam, Vasundhara Das and Mahalaxmi Iyer. But one man
who will be conspicuously absent from the Kolkata show is
Rahman's
preferred percussionist, Shivamani. "He will accompany me for the
rest of the tour. In Kolkata there will be some other very good
musicians from my group," he said.
Rahman has been on the scene for the past 10 years, but why this
delay in having a concert in India? "I wanted to rehearse all
over
the world and come back to India as a professional," laughed the
star.
