Is YSR the new ARR?

It has been mentioned on more than one occasion that YSR is the MD who will take ARR's place. YSR has produced many hit albums lately using new, fresh and funky styles of music. I believe that this statement has been proved by Yuvan after Dheena, Rishi and Thulluvatho Ilamai. When compared to ARR's recent Thenali and Star we can see that YSR has taken the lead in this race to be the best. YSR has been signed for many new and exciting projects so I can see that he will be the block in ARR's attempt to regain his position as No.1 in TFM.
What are your thoughts on this?

  YSR may be an alternative producers may thinkof when they don't get ARR (Infact Dheena came to YSR like that) and he can become a successful MD.
  But I doubt whether ARR has lost his No. 1 Position in TFM., With an average (or below average I should say - when we take Kamal songs' standard all these years) album like 'Thenali' can become a HIT., Its very tough to shake ARR. He is still the KING when it comes to cassette sales in Tamil., YSR, KR, Bharadwaj, Harris Jeyaraj, Pravin maNi and all others can make good waves (infact they are doing very well now), But Raja (I don't mean IR here ;-) Rajathaan !

  Just listing a few below average movies is always easy (Somebody in rediff tried to listdown some matches where sachin scored less than 10 runs & India lost the match - and claim he is not a great batsman., Do you agree ?)
  
  Kamal has acted in 170+ movies - and atleast 100 movies had great music and songs., Don't you think so ?

  I said 'ARR is the KING' and then 'Raja Rajaathaan' - that means ARR is the ultimate king in TFM when it comes to cassette sales and these guys may not be successful in beating him ! Thats my opinion, will be very happy if YSR proves it wrong.

  YSR is not the replacement. He admitted (fortunately, realized) that current TFM producers are after-(all) $$$ only. They will bet on the racing horse alone! Hope YSR will get cheated as his father suffered in mids of 1993-1997. YSR potentialy competes with ARR in terms of youthful music that's all. People (producers) still prefer ARR in case of making money from C/CD sales!

  YSR never be ARR. YSR still struggling. ARR has extreme individual quality in music. The only influence of YSR is his father IR other than that nothing. You do compare to Deva and S.A. Rajkumar with YSR still he could not get that level. How could YSR compared with ARR? Let us see whether YSR will survive in the industry. Haris is far better than YSR.
  
  No fans for YSR, only IR fans support him and try to boost him without analysing YSR stuff. I support IR's the great music.

  How do you compare YSR with ARR? With sucess.
  
  Poovellam Kettuppar, Dheena, Thulluvatho Ilami are faring well among public. Where in Thenaali and now Star come to scathic criticism from public
  
  Forth coming Nandhaa, Velan etc., are few good offers YSR has on hand.

  MR goes to KR for DumDumDum for KR seems to work with a movie directed by MR. Also there are news that KB offered a film to KR/YSR combo. Also it is said that ARR has grown big for his shoes. Means sales are not doing that well compared to what he is offered as salary. These are few indicators of his coming down.
  
  Other than Yelolo, is there any other new film ARR has been signed? Atleast Deva is signed for a Krithik Roshan starer film. That way, yes, he is comparable to YSR.

  Ravi Kumar, it is people like yourself that make people like ARR grow too big for his shoes.I am not denying that ARR was the no.1 some while ago, but now YSR has taken the lead just as ARR took the lead from IR some years back. In terms of music quality, YSR's latest efforts have surpassed ARR's, rather abysmal albums. Let TFM grow and give YSR the credit due. You cannot say he is running solely on his fathers name, to some extent he is, but his music is unlike IR's in every possible way. Can you name any song by IR that is as modern as YSR's?or even similiar to it? You can point out many portions in ARR's music that sound similiar to something else and especially now since he has begun passing his songs between hindi and Tamil.He is making a mockery of the TFM fans by simply changing the language and re selling the music. I think it is disgraceful.

  ARR name and his popularity will speak about ARR has extreme individual quality in music and no need to explain very deep to prove it. YSR is more similar to IR just one example vethu kuchi paththaduda vurasama (Dheena) it is more similirity of IR song. And I could prove more I don't want to scandle here. YES, ARR songs got identity like trade mark if look into it every songs got great tune, beats and punch. That is why still I love ARR songs forever. I don't get difference with YSR. I don't know why people like you force YSR to promote him. I tell you it is very difficult in the industry , atleast must work hard to get ARR level. Could be possible if IR, KR & YSR joint as one MD to defeat ARR. NO innovative in YSR songs just like normal other MD. You can see recent Harris music which quite good but ARR similarity. YSR must find his own style of music but still he do not know where to show is identity. YSR so far never embraced to buy music his atleast one CD. Since Roja I have the collection of ARR album and never find any song got similarity but I could find similarity in instrument he used but it is different style of beat.
  
  Eventually no doubt ARR is still No.1 in industry over this milleninum unless any new comer comes with full swing. In tamil field ARR King always as long the MDs' like YSR, KR, DEVA and S.A.Rajkumar present. They can survive in the industry but not like ARR world recognition.

  Ravi kumar, I think that YSR has done such a great job for a guy of his age.ARR has only achieved his fame at this stage in his life.Yuvan at the age of 21 is causing a storm.Whether you wish to accept it or not, ARR is not producing quality music as he used to.As I said before, I am not disputing that ARR was no.1 but since his recent disappearance from TFM, his quality has dropped drastically. Sure Harris is a good MD too, but you must realise that he has inly done one movie and that sounded very much like ARR.YSR has his own style, it is not like ARR or IR.His music reflects his age. He is catering for the younger audience of today. YSR cannot be compared to other MD's because his music is his own and not like anyones.If you cannot see similiarity in ARR's music then maybe you are listening to different cd's to me.He is passing his tracks back and forth between Hindi and Tamil as mentioned by Praveen.He need to get some new material.Don't think I am downplaying his talent, becuase I am not, ARR has done a lot for TFM, but just for that, it doesn't mean that he will always be no.1.Yuvan is the next best thing and has proved that he is the new no.1

  YSR has shown influence on ARR in many occasions.
  Let me quote you some examples.
  
  In "Chudidar anindhu vandha" son of PEKP the tune that follows "unnai naan marandha velayil" is much similar to "kamban padadha sindhanai" part of "pudhu vellai mazhai"
  
  His "sollaamal thottuchchellum thendral" song might seem to be a direct (modified) lift of
  "thothotho thothikkkollum thOlu"
  "kaipatta kuththa sollum maalu" part of super police song.
  
  Also, this vaththikkuchchi paththikkaadhuda" song has similar beats of "ramtha jogi" song of Taal.
  
  In TI "theenda theenda " song slightly resembles part of "Azhagana ratchasiye" song.
  The similarity can be found in
  "la la laa laa la la laa laa" and the song follows.
  This is similar to "kiliye alankiliye kuyile yelamkuyile" part.
  
  Next in the same film the "kooththu kattu" will definitely remind you the "thiruppachi aruvaala" song of tajmahal.
  
  Now, I am not saying that he has copied or so. But, definitely he has listened to ARR and ARR's influence is there.
  
  Thenali is not that a bad album. Considering KKKK, AP and rythem it is a bad one. But IMHO it is far better than Deena, rishi, kushi and ..."kinguda" song film(I forgot name). Yes, compared to TI I will say that Thenali ranks second. But, it has a wonderful song in "Swaasame" which is one of the best of ARR. Also, "Alankatti mazhai " and "porkalam" are real good song.
  
  After Thenali, ARR has not composed any music as yet mind you. Star is a recycle of Thakshak (hindi) which was really a good album compared to all hindi stuffs these days. "Rangde" is an excellent song by Asha. Listen it in hindi to enjoy it. I don't know how they have killed it in tamil.

  Come on CF., Thenali Better than Dheenaa ? You must be sleeping., please wake up., Do you think there is some song in Thenali (or any of the recent ARR albums for that matter) to match the varaity YSR Shows in 'Nee illai endRaal' from Dheenaa ?
  
  If you feel YSR songs are inspirations, then your 'Swasame' has lot more inspiration from 'ladkiko dhekatho' song from 1942ALS., 'Alankatti mazai' (A good song, I accept) has shades of 'Chandiranaith thottavar yaar' and IR's Bharathi BGM (I wrote about this in some other forum)., If you say 'Theenda theenda' sounds like 'azagaana ratchasiyee' - then what about 'chinna kaNNan azaikkiRaan' and 'Thalaiyaik kuniyum thaamaraiyee' ? Don't you think your azagaana ratchasi itself is inspired by both these songs ?
  
  Your No.1 Minnaleay has two songs which are almost direct lifts from 'Musthafa' and 'Columbus'.,
  
  Suththi suththi paarththaa ellaam oraey kathaithaan, if you want to criticise, you can, But I am interested in talking about something positive in this young guy's music. (and others as well, I agree 'vaseegara' is a very good song - best in recent times I should say)
  
  If you are talking about cassette sales and/or popularity, I agree, YSR is behind ARR., But when it comes to music quality - I think he is at par with ARR and improving album-by-album. Nobody can hide this fact.
