My camera was damaged thanks to a sickening blow from LLD's hockey stick :(
Managed to recover one pic though, here it is.

CP's sufficiently covered most of the stuff and there isnt much left. I'd reached about 1.5 hrs late and was initially surprised to see groups of youngsters all around the place. I decided to look for a gang of over 5 and pretty soon spotted one which included a young lad(C~P) standing next to a guy with an absent-minded scientist look(LLD!). I was expecting Saravanan to be either a sagely Valmiki-like character with a halo, or a robot with flashing green lights and whirring antennae, but he actually turned out to be a 'cool dude' :-)
Raj left us just then, and I could not get exactly which Raj he was, it was leading to too much thalai-suththal! (Lets refer to him as Woodlands Raj hereafter!). The plot thickens, the mystery deepens, as another Raj swoops down on the DF!
We went in and settled round a table, Suresh having the most experience in the DF. We started off talking about Raajangahm, and almost everyone unanimously bemoaned the lack of activity on the site. Agreed, there's hell lot of material on IR and getting everything in order is a formidable task, but being the official page, it shouldn't lie neglected was the opinion expressed. May the powers that be sit up and take notice.
Focus shifted to the DF and Suresh and Saravanan boasted that they were the only ones to stick to one nick. There were laughs all around when even SL admitted doing some trickery with the nick 'Lord London'. Suresh and SL talked about the early days when there was enthusiastic participation, passionate debates and the varied reactions invoked by self-styled fanatics. All this while, LLD was quite silent and suddenly the group became defensive, suspecting he was quietly plotting what to write on this thread, cautious not to become his target! An effort was made to trace out magix, but apparently he's got more attractive pursuits now that he's entered college ;-)
SL then talked of 60s/70s movies, weird picturisations, mannerisms, dialog - deliveries, etc. A fast paced tambola of titbits ensued, with Suresh and Saravanan jumping in. It was meant to be an evening of relaxation with no rigid agenda to constrain us, so there was really no need to dig deep into anything. The wheel spun quickly, TMS's style, Sivaji's mannerisms, Balu Mahendra movies(but no Mani-KB debate!), Shylaja's singing career, Thengai Srinivasan, etc. So, SL and Suresh took quick, tangential shots at topics, and as Saravanan dropped in the singer name/Movie name/Year of release, one could hear an imaginary gong go off, signifying end of topic! :-) Like Tendulkar having a net, he wound up his cameo by listing out 4 movies of some songstress/actress in chronological order!

By this time, Rajasaranam had joined us. He'd initially approached the wrong guy and asked if he was Lord Labakku Das, giving the chap the biggest shock of his life!! :-))
Then we shifted to recent topics, concern expressed at the disappearance of the ARR gang since the constellation thread. Constellate gang!! give us a shout once in a while, not many are aware of the developments in dhwanii and other ventures!
There were few good discussions in recent times, everyone noted that debates on food dominated most of the threads!! Oh, BTW, we'd ordered some items by then, and since all of us were probably suffering from diwali sweets hangover, we took light refreshments. Hope the expert Dieticians like Inji and V (@24.59) dont worry much about the unimpressive list that C~P gave, it is hardly a true reflection of our eating capabilities! :-)
Some thoughts were shared on the Singapore get-together and the very high possibilities it held for fisticuffs! :) So rest assured, though the chennai event is over without any casualties, this space will surely be watched for some real drama :)
As we moved out for the final round, SL and Saravanan dropped in for a word with PBS. Suresh elaborated on the efforts of DF-ers to produce an IR album, there were simply too many bottlenecks for that to realise. Then we talked about the interesting threads, Saravanan mentioned those catchy titles like "What do u think of shreya goshal?", "Asha v SJ - for SJ fans only", "All Karthik fans enter here", "Tipu sings for everyone, Tipu is number one","Karthik Raja Lounge", etc.. Purv/Vel/Mythila's appetite for raga was praised, young colts like Dinesh, Maddy, Pranav's passion for stirring the forum was admired...even the Weekend Thread received high commendation for giving opportunities for posting practice to rusty DF-ers in the absence of worthier threads! :)
Approbation was given to OISG's Yedhu Kavidhai, Sivaji's anti-social movies, and the 'Yedho Ninaivugal' thread. We wondered at the disappearance of Kaumudi, Music4Ever and Other_Side, who'd made good contributions. There were good laughs recalling Other_Side's thread "Why is it uneasy to listen to IR songs?", where LLD listed out names of diseases and disorders and subsequently the thread was brought back to track by Einstein Kiru! LLD's other famous scripts of ARR-IR dialog in RajyaSabha were quoted. There was another thread where a postor talked about good BGMs and said "ARR falls in this category", LLD posted immediately in that nick "Sorry that was a typo..ARR fails in this category", and there was chaos all around! C~P and LLD expressed suspicion that curryleaf was a guy. Concern was raised about the sorry state of Ehsaan's thread, but happily it's taken a turn for the better. Of course, the DF's Rock of Gibralter, Raghu's great SPB thread, was congratulated for crossing 2 years. Saravanan promised commitment to the VJ thread, while LLD pledged unswerving loyalty to the Weekend Thread!
That's about all that happened, and a mighty fine evening it was, what better place to discuss TFM than Chennai! Though majority of DF-ers are based in US, other than Chennai and probably Bay Area, there arent many feasible places left for a get-together. And yes, though it was the 12th anniversary of Aquib Javed shattering India with a hat-trick and 7-37, this was one evening which ended without regret, and crowned the next day with India's sweet revenge for the WC final defeat, even binary boy Agarkar contributing with runs! Enough digress...no firm decision was taken on the next one, November was discussed, but that really depends on the Nov-returnees keenness to meet, so the faster the info is given and the Saturday nailed down, the better it would be. Bon Voyage to Saravanan for his trip out of India, and for the rest, esp the ones who missed, bring in the suggestions and keep this thread active for more meets. Thanks to all who took the time out and to those who did the co-ordinating, better things are in store!

Wow
C~P and Prabhu, thanks a lot for the wonderful and elaborate description of this event. You guys definitely had a good time. I am glad you did. PBS is one person you can never miss in Woodlands. I too had the pleasure of meeting him and taking his autograph written in nice telugu. Anyway, photos is what we miss now. I am beginning to wonder how young C~P really is based on all the above posts. I will have to wait for the photos to arrive.
And, I thought Prabhu would have a questionnaire prepared (after sweating day and night) for Saravanan (Sar) as a challenge in which of course Sar would score in flying colors. But looks like that didn't happen. One day, I have to meet this walking encyclopedia called Sar!!

PBS stands for the singer P.B.Srinivas. In case you are wondering who this person is - he is a very famous playback singer who sang many memorable melodies in the 60s and 70s in Telugu, Tamil, Kannada and a host of other languages.

Is PBS approachable?
I have gone to Drive-In so many times and I was reluctant to go and talk to him since I thought I would be infringing on his privacy.
Let me know guys. Next time I go, I want to bandy a few words with the legend!
