Hi,
I'm looking for an `expert' in Tamil cinema who knows about the history, culture and economics of the Madras/Chennai film industry to provide input into a book on Southern India. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

  The first person who comes to mind is 'Film News Anandan' a reporter from Tamil Nadu. He has been around fro quite a while and is a virtual storehourse of knowledge. Unfortunately I donot think he is on the net though. I am sure you can reacch him through any contact you might have in TN.

  ,Aranthai narayanan has written a few books about the tamil cinema,it's culture,history and it's influence on Tamilnadu politics..
  Theodore S.Baskaran will be helpful.He has written a book (in English)about the entertainment media in South India.
  Dr.S.Krishnaswamy (brother of well known baratha natyam exponent Padma Subramanyam)
  has produced a documentary about his father K.Subramanyam,one of the pioneers of Tamil film industry.He is co author of a book about South indian films.

  I would recommend Muktha V.Srinivasan's excellent book "Tamil cinemaa-vim varalaaru"(History

  If u want to know the in and out of the south indian movies the best person whom i can suggest is KamalHasan, he is a perfectionist, he is a singer,dancer,director,producer,coreographer,techenician. he has also worked as an assistant for many directors and dance masters, he has acted both in north and south and also knows the technologies about the west. so he will be the best person anyone can suggest. all the best
