hi all,

This thread is created in the intention to dicuss vaali's Contributions in TFM..

He's been in TFM for more than 45 yrs with ample amount of Experience, he's due of many Awards..


Let's discuss his contributions & make this Thread live.

I Remember he was introduced to T.R.Paappa by Nagesh(roommate of vaali,goplakrishnan) @ that time .
HE wrote Sirikindral indru sirikindral For the film Nallavan Vaazhvan. With that he got other song like Kuthala aruviyile from the same film.
Then on he started with Idhayathil nee (Muktha Srinivasan's Production) where in he wrote songs like "Poo varayam poonkodiye"...which became super hit

But to mention Vaali excelled with MGR combination & then with k.Balachander

  Vaali himself has mentioneed the following somewhere:
  
  Vaali wrote a song 'Odhuvaar, un peyar Odhuvaar' in 'Thiruvarutchelvar' (I think!). Kannadasan heard it somewhere and thought it to be a 'DEvaaram' or from 'Periya PuraaNam' or by one of the naayanmaars. When he learnt that it was Vaali's, he rang him up and showered praises on him from the bottom of his heart!

  I never knew that VAALI has written such good songs .....

  You are IN for a big surprise, Vaaleeis one of the Best lyricts TFM has ever produced ... somebody whom KannaDasan considered as a 'real' potti !

  NagaS, I don't think KD would've considered anybody to be a 'Potti'..but yeah, Vaalee is without doubt one of TFM's greatest lyricists.A common mistake made is to mistake vaalee's songs as KD's.He was(& still is) that good!!!!

  I've Relished Each & Every song of Vaali
  
  & As Mumbai Ramki menitoned there is no need to be Surprised because vaali had written wonderful Songs with Simple Lyrics..
  
  & Kamal-IR-Vaali comb was great..
  
  Even Maniratnam-IR-Vaali (Agninatchatram,Mowna raagam,Dalapathi,Anjali)etc were Superb
  
  he has such a talent that he plays with words
  
  VM was all in Praise for the song "Punnagai mannan Poo Vizhi Kannan"
  
  & once they met in a studio VM asked Vaali "Anne ippo padathula paatu romba kammiya irukku"
  
  Vaali replied " munnelam ezhu 8 paatu, aprom 4 5 paatu ippadi pona nammala nippatu nu solvanga"
  
  But I always feel Vaali with MSV & VKUMAR gave some excellent songs which are everlasting ..

  When IR was booked For AC tirulogachander's Badrakali Vaali was the Lyricist
  when he came to Write the songs he asked who's the MD Director replied a new boy..Afte hearing the Music Vaali said intha payyan Peria aala Varuvan
  
  No one can foget the KJY&PS's best song "Kannan Oru Kai kuzhandai" and then on IR-Vaali comb were Great hits

  Similarly ARR has a great Respect for Vaali
  All songs from Kaadal desam,Kadalar Dinam & the recent Kaadhal virus see the works...
  
  Also With Yuvan my fav is Nee illai endral vazhkayil - ultimate song
  
  With Karthik Raja- Kasu mela
  & so on
  
  & Kannadasan did consider Vaali as Potti
  
  some Producers Approached KD stating "Madhavi Pon mayilal" Madhiri Paatu venum
  
  he replied adhu naan ezhudala Vaali ezhudunathu endru
  
  Who can foget "AAyirathil Oruvan Songs"
  Though "Adho andha " was penned by KD
  other songs were Equally competetive.

  the film Padagotti Was the Milestone in Vaali's Career..
  
  It had all the song penned by him
  
  Particularly this song claimed applause from all
  
  It was like thirukkural 2 2 lines

  It goes on where he described
  
  Iruvar ondranal oruvar endranal ilamai mudivathillai

  Kannadasan After hearing the songs of Padagotti Asked his Car driver to drive to Vaali's House & gave his chain to vaali as a compliment for his work in Padagotti

  Lyricist vaali is like the legendary vaali. He gets half the strength of the competitor. Earlier he was competing with kannadhaasan and got half of kannadhaasan's strength. If he is not writing great songs now, it may be because of his current competitors.
