Wov...What a movie? Bala has taken Indian Cinema to a new era. What a big leap...Ofcourse...Raja is the Pithamagan...He justified his dream of making our movies stand bold in the international arena.I'm searching words to explain the greatness of the BGM.If you think that you are not emotional, and nothing can make you emotional, please try to forget all those, bcoz u r no more left with them , when u come out of the theatre.Ilayaraja was always with us, but the crappy Directors around him forget to bring the best out of him.Bala did that...I would say these guys(Bala,Vikram and Surya) shed their blood to justify Raja's work.I rate this movie as the movie of this century.

Bala,
Nice to hear IR did not draw a blank in BGM. In songs, I think he did not do anything new.

Anbe sivam, On the recent times, if Adada, Pireya and Elangathu cannot win the hearts of the tfm music listeners, then the tfm music industry is really in a sorry state!!.

Osho,
I agree these songs are good. But we have heard similar songs from him already. What is new about them?
In a special movie like PM, IR should have put more effort to bring something new and fresh. In my opinion, he failed as far as songs are concerned.
I would not say it is sorry state of TFM. I would rather say it is negligence on the part of our maestro.(He did that for Ramanaa too except for Vaanvaille song)

People who are posting their reviews after watching the film, pl. include atleast a few lines on the movie, music etc. rather than just one-liners.

Just back from watching the movie. To say it one word: Well done!!!! In the interest of not spoiling the suspense, I will not divulge the story. The BGM was spellbounding, to say the least - no wonder Bala and the producer were all praises for IR. If this movie becomes a hit, it will be a trendsetter.
The already few number of songs were further curtailed down and were aptly used only as background scores. They went so well with the movie. There are no 'maraththa suthi odura duets', no foreign locales, a separate comedy track, no extraneous characters, but just straight story telling. The flow was gripping from the beginning to the end, except for one or two sequences that could be edited out. Great performances by all the actors - credit must go to the director, Sangeetha being a surprise package. My respect and expectations for Bala have risen monumentally. The technicalities were very good too.
Downsides, be prepared to see a lot of violence, the Simran song is not necessary, though it is fun to watch as a standalone. Some sequences were too dragging. One may argue that Surya-Laila love is not very realistic. But, I consider it a peccadillo.
It is a very different film. I hope this will become a big hit. From the initial reactions I heard from back home, it looks quite good.

Dear All,
Well I watched the movie in Trichy(kalaiarangam-night show) the theatre was too crowded as if its a Rajni film. There was a heavy expectation. Well
Dude's these guys has given a film beyond our expectation...what a movie. To put things in one word exceptional...
When other directors are compromising things for success...here is a director who did a allow even 0.1% to get into his story. There is no heroism....i wud say the hero of the film is its creator BALA. Well done Bala we are indeed really proud of you.
Now coming back to the musical scores well there is no scope for duets and other situational songs....the songs which comes just narrates the story...and about BGM...guys see it yourself this man is another hero....thus making the film with four heros IR, Bala, Vikram and Surya.(But the theatre i watched the film had such a poor sound system...still the BGM threatened like anything especially in the climax scenes.....to be precise the BGM was is top gear throughout the film....cruising at 150 - 200 kmph...matching the speed of the movie which was also cruising at the same same speed except at some hairpin bends... :)
I have no more words to put it here...iam just spellbound....
Kudos to Bala, IR, Vikram, Surya and all others....

Movie: Saw the movie and impressed very much by the performances of all actors/actresses, especially the screen play. Bala has tried to bridge the gap between art and commercial movies. I would say after 'Devar Magan', this movie has succeeded undoubtedly. The movie was excellent till the last 15 mins of it. The last part is just so violent as someone pointed out earlier. My surprise is that common movie goers (not so intelletuals) enjoyed the movie so much. This tells that if you make good movies, people will come and watch it unlike some BIG directors claim excuses for their failures. And definitely this is the HIT movie of this season.
Music: 'piraiye', solo version of 'elangaththu' and parts of 'adada' are in the movie. There is also a bit song sung by IR which is ok but not that great. In the BGM dept, as usual his music is emotional and gels with the scenes, not overplayed.
One more thing, as long as people like Bala teaming up with IR, nobody can remove IR permenantly from TFM world. Bala has given credits by showing IR's name first even before Vikram's and Surya's in the title card.
Though this movie has some flaws here and there, overall this movie makes you that good movies are still made in Tamil. I am eagerly looking forward to this team's (Bala & IR)next project.

Nttamai ,
Well said ..This also proves that u need not have songs in a movie explictly ........I liked the climax only for IR ,it was an amaizng piece ..it is better if we close teh eys and listen to it .....
