good work. very interesting! You have excellent control over tamizh. I envy your tamizh!
Other than the controversial references. How do you feel when some one cutts off bits a pieces of our lines just because the editor does not understand our drift. romba erichalavum varuthamavum irkkum illai! It is as if the content of the article is not fully alive. If any one of the above is a edited version than I wud like to see the unedited.

Naga,
Thanks for the links. Very well written indeed.
Would be nice if you could list the Top(?) 10 Worst lyrics by the leading lyricists of today as ana ddendum to teh article, it will help see your point better.
Personally I would love to 'enjoy' these lyrics and have a good laugh.

Thanks kiru, Bharath & Perter Pan,
To be frank, almost all the three articles I gave links here to Kumudam were edited :-) Sometimes 75% of the article will go off ! I won't blame them for this - they have their own priorities, editor not understanding the stuff is not the main reason - page restrictions are the ones that drive this, But neenga solRamaathiri we feel very bad when that happens - kuRaip pirasavam maathirithaan irukkum.,
Bharath,
If you are interested, send me a mail and I can send the full articles as murasu text files.,
I don't have a website at this moment., But if you are interested, I shall send information & links to all my stories / articles in a separate mail.
Sorry for the digression !

I had a chance to hear an FM music that resembled exactly like "Anne Anne, sipoy anne" by IR. The interesting thing was the music had a classical tint, but just couldn't imagine how that could have inspired IR to a folkish touch. Has anyone heard this before. Any Californian?

I heard a mobile tone - a western classical piece maybe ..i couldn't catch the person..but the tune can easily be said to resemble "Veetukulla kattupatta pachaikile..." from My Dear Marthanda...
anybody has got information on this ?

Philadelphias jazz station played an old classic yday.
IRs song 'kelaiyo kanna naan paadum githam' from
naane raja nane manthiri is a 100% copy of this song.
Unfortunately i didnt hear who the original composer is but i will keep my ears open next time.

Digression!
I've finally made it into India Today. About inspirations of Nadeem Shravan in Dhadkan! After Screen, Mid Day (Mumbai) and The Music Magazine!
http://www.india-today.com/itoday/20010903/cinema.shtml
Check out the latest issue!
They goofed on the URL though, but I've helped them by adding a new index page under that link! Just wish some tamil magazine comes up with a compilation that we've unearthed so far. But seems unlikely!
Digression ends!!!

I just saw that too! It was working fine till yesterday noon! But I wrote back to them saying that the link they've mentioned is actually wrong and they've forgot the song links.
Then I went back to thats erver where I had uploaded the songs and added a India Today specific index page to help them!!! Take a look!
http://blake.prohosting.com/~cyan1/
I tried going to that page (its in the cinema section) via the index page. But no luck...says its a privileged page and that I need to be a subscriber to access this info. Lemme try getting a printed copy and scan that item!
And Bharath...they havent mentioned my name. Just the two inspirations of NS! Doesnt matter anyway, its NS's name that matters to me!

"poovellam un Vaasam"-
the group song opening lines 'la la..... etc
is quite similar to the charanam passage of "ore NaaL unai naan..' from "ILamai oonjaladukirathu'
the only change is that VS has used a much faster beat.

one more for the count!
as reported in
http://filmfare.indiatimes.com/thebuzz/index.html
Talking of similarities, another film which seems to have freely lifted a number is the Aamir-Saif-Akshaye starrer 'Dil Chahta Hai'. The number 'Woh Ladki Hai Kahan' sounds very similar to the Corr's instrumental number 'Paul McCarthy'. The violin rendition is almost exactly the same.
Must say, looks like 'copy' times are back again!

ARR copied a theme music from "thudikkum karanghal(rajani film)", the music MD 4 this film is SPB, the theme ARR copied is the bit that sounds like "playing with spoons & pans", at the beginning of the song "meham mundhani, aduthu unnale", by SPB & V.jairam!!!, any body agree with me???

Raghuvaran:
We'd love to agree with you if you only let us know which song of ARR you are referring to! In any case, the 'playing with spoons and pans' sound is pretty common and there's so unique that it has to be "copied"!

Karthik S;
ARR copied SPB's (he was the MD for that film) "thudikum karanghal", ARR copied the "spoons & pans " bit from the song beginning of the song "meham Mundhani, paaduthu munaalee", by SPB Vanijairam.
ARR used this bit in his "taal (Thalam)". He used it as his theme music, like ARR uses some sort of theme music in all his films.
thanks

//"Rather silly ? in it, it is obviously SPB charan!!!, he will replace his father after 20 years, if he will be given a chance."/
why did u make this decision? How many songs has charan done so far?
- From: Raguvaran (@ 212.2.14.241)
on: Fri Aug 31 05:30:37 EDT 2001
Bharath;
SPB charan is not given chance to date in Tamil, he probably sang abt 20 songs, compared to his father, it's all peanuts, but KJY' son (vijay), M.vasu' son (yugendren) have done less than SPB charan.
But HH is grandad he will (he must) retire after 3 years, I am very confident abt that, cos the TFM can not tolerate him anymore, his blocked nose voice is becoming unbearable. I hope I will be alive for the next 3 years to prove my thoery.
Plus, no one will ever remember HH even existed after 3 years, appearently he is going to act as hero with Khusboo(hahahah, heheheh), is he the hero or the herione, I mean his pony tail!!!

Raghu:
You seem to have some personal haterd against Hariharan! Hari is definitely one of best singers we have in India...and I've been following his music right from his ghazal days. His composing sense is very good too, though I think his music gets murky when mixed with Lezz Lewis' under the name Colonial Cousins.
But KJY's son I'm told has been quite a success in Malayalam films. Yugendran is also doing few songs. But SPB Charan, if I remember right is more bothered about his acting in TV serials. The last song I remember him singing was alaipaayuthey's 'kaadhal sadugudu', in which I think he did a splendid job.
I really wonder how you are so optimistic about Charan when even he has taken to acting with no offers coming his way!
Bharath: You have unnecessarily instigated Raguvaran and look where you have left him now!:-)
