Hmmm,
Though the new hub looks a lot better and promises increased interactivity,
it jus isnt newtfmpage. :(

Since registration required no more proxy postings from anonymous ARR\IR fans

I don't like the new forum either. I guess this is end of my contribution (??? what) to TFM.
It takes so long to DL the page I'm not going to sit and wait plus registration.
Anyway Good Luck RR!

RR, I would like to echo similar comments to that of a few others above. Maybe, being a longtime DFer has something to do with it, but the current newtfmpage design is simplistic, unique and effective. The new design is similar to that of ESPN and other messageboards I have seen on the net and am not sure if it would be as easily accessible as the current design.
I dont mind categorizing the threads better, but the main design of the page(along with the white background) can be left undisturbed. of course, this is just my opinion.
From a personal standpoint I dont care too much about Forumhub :-) (if the new design can help/prevent ppl from starting junk threads in Forumhub then thats OK) as I dont visit it that often anymore, but am severely biased towards current newtfmpage design. Its one of a kind.

Also, lack of a login feature was one more individualistic/democratic feature of newtfmpage. Sure moderation is a little difficult but I think its forumhub that was affected more due to lack of moderation and maybe the forumhub alone could use a change of format.
If login to newtfmpage is really mandatory
Can you consider
adding a login screen to the current design/format. The current newtfmpage url will point to the login screen and one has to enter username/password and then get inside the forum. The forum design itself would be left unchanged. Is this possible? Am not a HTML expert, just throwing out some thoughts
Moderation in newtfmpage became difficult mainly because anyone could start a thread without permission. If you could moderate that feature alone and make it mandatory for someone to request permission for starting a new thread or filter out new topics of threads (based on film names, MDs, certain keywords etc.) then a login feature might not be all that necessary. This would still pose some restriction but might not be as restricted as loggin in every time.

I like the present frill free, text only, lean, white background format . My IE crashed many times when I tried to access the new pages. I wish to remind the admin that many Indian TFM Dfers don't have the luxury of high speed, broad band internet access.Iam afraid we may lose some of our old, loyal, valuable dfers in the process.
Probably login feature could be added for accountability . Starting umpteen threads for every filmname should not be allowed.

senior DFers, I personally feel the advantages of this will be more. It may consume time but I think all the serious posters dont mind logging in every time they wanna post(hey u can also get ur browser to automatically log u in). People wont take pains to login if they are in the mood to start fights. I think the forum will be much more organised. Yes u have to hunt for data but the thing is data will always be there - unlike the old format where u just cannot keep track of who's posting and what and when.

hhhw,
We all agree it'd be lot easier to manage.
But the format, and the simplicity is what sets newtfmpage apart from the rest. i mean, after seein this forum like this for over 4 yrs now, I dont think i'd wanna see newtfmpage in ne other avtar.
I like it this way! :(

Think of all those rubbish, vulgar and unnecessary postings in different assumed names by the same member just to drive home a nasty point or to discourage an effort, then you will understand why the moderayors have come upon this new format!
In short, put yourselves in their shoes and you will know that we only dragged them to this.
No point in lamenting now, having committed the act.
Let's face it.
Good-luck, RR with your venture!

Great work, RR!
It may need a little getting used-to, esp. for old DF'ers...OTOH, may bring in more new faces...
Best wishes!

The reason many people like google.com and craigslist.com is for its' simplicity. I guess the same goes with newtfmpage.com. Please keep it that way. The new look is a big turn-off for me. Just MHO.

RR,
Will you please issue a detailed statement as to why you are making these changes?
We need to know in the light of bb's message in SOTD.
Thank you.

SK, thumburu, please have a look at: http://www.newtfmpage.com/forum/17201.14.34.09.html
This migration to lunarpages is not related to me stepping down from newtfmpage. And yes, SOTD will not be a part of tfmp anymore.

bb, sad to note this development. I think only those DFers who have been here for quite a while would understand the full import of this development and what they are about to miss. I still hope that something could be done to restore things to back where they were.
- From: vijay (@ 68.51.134.219)
on: Thu Oct 28 20:50:53 EDT 2004
RR, please consider NOT doing this. I sincerely feel that the quality of participation isnt going to improve all that much because of this development. I have seen messageboards(like ESPN) with login/passwords where the moderators have a tough time controlling the language and such. If you block one login it wouldnt take long to get another one. On the other hand, some of the regulars might be discouraged from visiting the new page due to constant logging in and so on.
We have even had several TFM singers and celebrities like Ehsaan accidentally bumping into this page from google and posting some interesting stuff. Imagine if they had to get a login and so on, they wouldnt have the patience to visit the page as often.
The only thing that needs a bit more moderation is the thread-starting feature. You can also add filters to block messages containing certain words/phrases. newtfmpage is like free world, and thats what makes it interesting and unique.
This is just my final plea, in case you are still thinking about it. If you have already decided, ignore it.

echo vijay.
bb and RR,
Its really sad that your team is breaking up. I have been visiting these pages from 1999 and have loved reading saravanans' comments. bb's contribution is priceless, SOTD was the most brilliant idea that has popped up on any music site. Only way to listen to the song and know about it. I am glad I won't miss that. But if newtfmpage is going to lose its old world charm I might quit it as well. I don't care even if my browser can log me in, it won't be the same.
Heck... there goes the neighborhood.
