Hi i just found out that there are very less participation in the FORUM HUB topics.
There are quite a lot of Interesting topics in that which requires some enthu participation. Are we lacking in the enthu? Iam sure we can visit those links also everytime we come here.
DF Team:
========
one suggestion can u include this link on the top of the forum.html also, and make it blink. Iam sure people cud miss this link. Esply those who access from office, who visits generally the thread of their interest.

HUB link is relatively slow and I posted two queries in CyberPunk! But it din appear after a day or two though it appeared immedialty after posting! So, I am waiting till it stabilizes.
Another point is it takes lots of time to follow up so many TFM links! May be its better to have a control over number threads, I find it difficult to regularly follow all threads!

peesoo: What you posted in cyber punk was about Tamil SF. I created a separate thread on Tamil SF and moved your posting there. Do you remember creating a thread on Tamil SF? It carries your name though. :-).

so there is not much of activity in the thread discussing lack of activity in the forum hub as well!!!!

one reason could be that HUB topics are multilayered and warrant an introspective response most of the time whereas in newtfmpage, we typically give off-the-cuff responses.

Udhaya,
Can you be more specific ? We are interested in more such feedback, because we are planning to expand the Hub aggressively - more categories, personalization and other features.
Thanks.

I agree with the reason that too many threads for less people participating. If somebody can control the number of threads. Then the number may increase.
Also any point of discussion is ending discussing who is best of IR and ARR. We need to stop this to make discussion interesting. There is much more to discuss in Tamil film music other than these two.

i totally agree with ramakrishna about the IR and ARR clash. i am one for avid discussions in the hub. one suggestion is that whenever a thread gets cut off, due to being a repetition or something, it should be discarded into the archives immediately and not allowed to age its way through. also, once a thread "gets over" , i.e., there seems to be a logical end(typically at the end of a song listing exercise), it can be immediately sent to the archives. the link to the forum hub should be made bigger and bolder and placed at the top and bottom of the DF page.
i am happy that this thread continues, as i revived it after a long time.

I request you to avoid discussions on topics like who is best?

I feel that participation in the hub is lower than the TFM DF pages due to the following reasons :
* It is a relatively new addition, and not many people have noticed/warmed up to it yet. This will pick up in due course.
* As Udhaya pointed out, the topics are "weightier", and more introspective in nature (rightfully so, I'd say !), and hence the responses are less frequent compared to those in the TFM DF, but are certainly much more focussed and relevant. I think this is what is important. In the TFM DF, things tend to become very arbitrary and digressive many a time, even if the responses come in fast and thick, and more often than not, end up as pro/anti-IR/ARR fiascos. So, if this is avoided in the hub, even if it means less frequent postings, it is absolutely fine, IMO.
* Thirdly, film music always has a dramatic and immediate appeal to it, that more sober topics in the hub. For instance, a topic like "Latest albums of IR" could evince much more immediate curiosity and interest in the DFers than say, something on literature.
I'd like to add that the concept of the hub is extremely good, and I'm sure it will get the attention that it deserves soon.

"Rightfully" should read "rightly" in my previous posting.

Thanks Viswa, for your comments and support. We are really thinking big about Hub: getting a unique domain, personalization as on MyYahoo, etc.
Let's take this page for people like you to give us more suggestions & feedback, so that we can organize ourselves better.
Ramakrishna: In case you misunderstood, we are not discussing about the topics in TFM DF here. This page is about the Forum Hub

Raja, Ravi and other DF Team members,
I really like the idea of a separate domain for the HUB. When i started this thread, I was enthu of reading the threads/articles in the HUB, I feel that enthu is dying in me slowly(which i dont want :)) ). I used to visit the HUB almost everyday, but now probably twice or thrice a week. The possible reason is, I have to go thru somany links to reach a particular thread. I wud be definetly interested in doing this *if only* i know that a topic of my interest is there. If i wud be taken to that page with less links and clicks, even if i dont find a topic of my interest, I will be visiting it frequently to check the other contents and updates. This is my opinion based on my professional experience.
So, iam for a separate domain.

Forum is a more serious place. so i will be happy if there is steady partcipation instead of a lot of people participating.
but i am finding it difficult to follow all the topics that are there. Can something be done about this ?
the link is also slow some times. can we have a seperate domain ? is it possible ?

Rajaraman,
Not everyone, in current TFMDF, is an expert in all the topics being discussed in the hub, nor are they
interested in all the other topics. You need to attract a different group of people. Besides it is impossible for
people to get involved in all the discussions. You end up diluting the contents of all the forums if you expect the same set of people to contribute to all the forums.
I slightly disagree with the "heavier content/topic" argument. What is so heavy about sports and films compared to TFM?
- From: Rajaraman (@ panorama2.nus.edu.sg)

Thanks for the comments Ramanan,Satish.
Ramanan: The personalisation capability should solve the problem of keeping track of topics.
Look out for this feature..
We can definitely have a new domain, provided we get some $$$ sponsorship :)

Ofcourse we can do the same thing as what we did
for getting this domain :-)
I would like to see some crowd in the Hub.

Thanks, Gokul. :)
I think we don't need lot of money this time. Just $70 to pay for the domain regn. Any help is much appreciated.

now i know why there is less participation in forum hub. i suggested a thread in the tamil section a few days back and the thread is still not up. this is quite unlike the DF where the thread springs up immediately.where is the fault??

TFM Group,
Let me know if American Checks are okay, or do you need Bank Checks?

Udhaya,
As you may know, for newtfmpage.com, Kanchana collected the
money and forwarded it lumpsum.
We want one such volunteer to do this collecting business.
Once we reach $70, our team will register for a domain and the volunteer can directly send the amount to InterNIC.

I can volunteer to do the same thing again as for TFM-DF last year. If OK with you, Udhaya and Gokul can contact me.

I can pitch in too for the required money. I think u could generally put up this in the DF and if there are surplus funds put it in some bank for future use. Anyway please let me know how much I need to pitch in, when and to whom.

To all the US volunteers:
Let's use the same protocol we used during the fund drive for the newtfmpage.com last year.
1. Contributions are completely voluntary, with no set minimum or maximum.
2. Contributors send a check made out to me in the desired amount.
3. I send one single check out for the total sum, along with photocopies of the individual checks to TFMG for validation purposes.
Some details:
Please share your e-mail addresses so I can contact you with my snail mail address and other details. Thanks :-)

Gokul,
that is already taken :(. So probably forumhub.com
Let me know if you think of any other choices.
BTW Thanks Kanchana for volunteering again.
