hi all, lot of music fans hang out the entire day on newtfmpage.com. How about a get-together? :-)

  Sara, digressing on those frightening cricketers, Gray and Small. Anthony Gray interestingly made his debut on ur bday in 85! That game incidentally I watched after Miandad had just got out. Miandad had smacked the first 4 deliveries he faced(off all bowlers, Marshall) for boundaries. But Marshall is too good a bowler to get thrashed and scattered Javed's stumps next ball. The last over of the innings was from the gangling Joel Garner - Imran hammered 3 sixes and took some 22 runs off it.
  
  But the first and prob only time Gray played against Ind was on 30.11.86(VJ's bday!) After WI were restricted to 198, we were eager to see India win a famous victory. Sunny and Srikanth opened, facing Marshall and Gray. We were shivering in our seats grimly anticipating these 2 to unleash thunderbolts. However utterly unmindful of our anxiety was Srikanth. Marshall was belted for a four and immediately after, before we could believe our eyes, the ball disappeared into the crowd for six! Hardly had the rejoicing died down when Srikkanth's legstump lay at the keeper's feet the next ball.
  Next in was the late Raman Lamba(Player of the previous series) who was too scared to approach anywhere near the ball. Dismissed with ease. Vengsarkar walked in with a prolific reputation against the Windies. Was rendered strokeless and we gasped in horror as bogeyman Gray thumped him on the chest a couple of times with unplayable deliveries and quickly got him out!!
  Pencil thin Azhar and Sunny got a valiant partnership going. Despite my fervent efforts to prop the chase by periodically applying vibhoodhi on the telly, Gray came back into the attack and pronto clean bowled both Azhar and Sunny! The rest of the line-up was finished off with ease. To add insult to injury, Sportstar's pic of Madanlal castled by Marshall had the caption "Madanlal is put out of his misery by this express from Marshall".
  To my great relief, Gray didnt play much after that due to injuries.
  
  Small in contrast was deceptive by appearance. He came into bat during the final moments of WC 87 final, and England desperately needing couple of big hits. Angry with Aus for ending Imran's dream, I was willing Small to thump a hefty blow to take England thru in the last over. But he pusillanimously defended and took a meek single as Eng failed by 7 runs.
  
  Anyway, the next time you pass by Sharjah Stadium, you might surely think of that towering carnage-wreaker called Gray :)
