the film casts new faces along with prakash raj.
i heard the film involves the life of school children who are inbetween the age group of 15 to 18

the whole story involves a coulpe of school children and how they see life through their point of view.
the film is directed by selva raghavan who worked wiith k.balachander
cinematograhy by arvind krishnaa who worked with p.c. sriram all these years as his assistant.

Sanjay,
I already see a consistency in Yuvan's work (whatever be the quality). This is a good indicator of his abilities as a MD. Also, this is what the industry is looking for (consistent, dependable). If what you are saying is true, this 'freely flowing' thought would translate into a flowing melody (just like his dad). I wish him the best.
BTW, I was asking you about the recording technology. It looks like IR/KR are doing a live stereo mixdown in the studio, whereas Yuvan seems to be mixing the recordings later on a computer/DAW. Is my suspicion correct ?

sanjay,
your posting is encouraging and kiru with regard to recording, i too have observed this difference in their songs. In my feeling, IR recording slightly stands out from that of KR in some sense and I donno why it is so. i could be wrong.

I have beena big fan of YSR for a while and I too have noticed a perfection in his recording quality. Also with the magical music that he prodces, I too can agree that he is one of the most talented musicians in TFM. Don't take me as downplaying the genius of IR and ARR. They too are wonderful musicians, but I feel that for sucha youngster, Yuvan is definately in for a bright future. His style is like no other, you can see through is music, that he is putting a lot of time and effort into his tracks. Almost as if he is producing what is coming from his heart. If he continues like this, we can be sure that Yuvan will be a regular face in TFM for his contribution to tamil music. I can't wait to hear Thulluvatho Ilamai which will be released soon.Especially the song Ithu Kathala. I'm really anticipating and have high expectations for this

Fliflo,
I think KR and IR record the same way. But IR's stands out mainly because of his choice of instruments. He knows the color/texture of every instruments and how well they all sound together. After all, he is the Maestro.

The songs are really great. All i am worrying is a film being directed by a man like kasturiraja doesn't deserve these songs. Anyway songs are going to be real treat for music lovers. Once again he has proved that he can be a real competitor for ARR. Those who love contemparary kind of music with Raja's melodious touch can sure look out for YUvan's work ever.

I managed to hear Thulluvatho Ilamai after reading the general comments on this album by the young raja. What a great achievement this guy has done to produce one of the most stunning albums in the history of TFM. This album has it all. Great music, melody and a wonderful new surprise in the track of "Ithu Kaathala". The beats to this song are like none i have heard before and the intro to this song really makes you sit up and listen. This is a great album and i hope that Selvaraghavan can produce a film that is going to live up to the standards of this album. Definately, we can see who is going to be the replacement for ARR in the next few years. Yuvan has all that ARR has, as well as that little something extra that will take him further.
I will post a more detailed review after hearing this album few more times. I would give it a rating of 11/10

ThuLLuvathoo ILamai is a nice album by Yuvan, I won't say it is his best, But three out of six songs are just wonderful, two more are average compositions - Probably this rating with change after couple of more hearings !
Unni Krishnan and Bombay Jayashree are just wonderful in 'TheeNdath theeNda' - a fast number in carnatic music style, The way Yuvan switches between the Western beats and Mrithangam is too good to listen.,
'Vayathu Vaa Vaa' is my pick of the album, Wonderful song - Defenite Raja touch in the melodious tune, sung nicely by Srinivas and Harini (Is it Harini or Sujatha ?)
'Neruppu Kooththadikkuthu' is a folk based song (Kasthoori Raja Padam sir, :-) - Venkat Prabhu sounds like a xerox of A R Rahman, the singer. Reminds 'Thiruppaachchi' song in some places, But is unique in terms of tune and orchestrisation, Good flow of tune.,
YSR has tried some new things in almost every song, But he could have avoided copying ARR's 'Mukkaala' song's music in 'KaaTRukku' (The last piece when Prabhu Deva dances without head/hand etc., - I heard Rahman himself copied this from a Michel Jackson Album ;-) Yuvan has sung two songs in a POPPY mood - 'Tamil Pronounsation ? Appadeennaa enna ?'nnu ketkiRa maathiri paadiyirukkaar, Suththamaana thamizhk kolai.,
Kasthooooooori Raja hasn't written any songs in this album, Thank god - Pa. Vijay has done a good job, Particularly all the three songs I have mentioned above, have very good lyrics - Even the folkish song has some good statements(?!!!) about being positive about life :-) Overall, full marks to the lyricst !
Overall, The album looks very refreshing - My 45 Rs/- is worth just for the top three songs :-) Everything else is Bonus !
But my only concern is , Kasthoori Rajavukku ippadi oru Albumaa ? Waste paNNitteengaLee makkaa !!!
