Hi musiclovers!!!
newtfmpage has been a nice place for people to share what they know with each other. Many people help you with what you want and become your pals.
But how many of these faces have you seen?
How many have you met in person?
How many have you atleast spoken to over phone?
How many have you chat with on a Messenger?
How many have you atleast mailed?!
Get-togethers happen every now and then. I can see people shaking their heads violently in disagreement, but they do happen! Atleast major get-together has happened to my knowledge.
Attended by : Saravanan, Lord Labaku Das, Prabhu, Suresh, Rajasaranam, Sriram Lakshman, Raj and C~P
Any such events that happened elsewhere? Would be nice to learn about such experiences.....Share benefits gained if any

aish,
if you'd been in Goregaon you should have known lots about Andheri already. Quite commercial and Parsi/Gujju dominated and less cosmo, less south indian presence compared to Goregaon. But good eating places and entertainment spots all round.

Che- I seem to have missed out on the discussions on Goregaon- where I have lived, and wonderful years they were too, and usher in so many fond memories! I stayed in Film City Road, in what the postal authorities classify as 'Malad East', but Goregaon is the nearest station. Memories of traveling by the Great Western are mixed with pleasant and nasty recollections :) My classes were in Andheri; and Jogeswari and Vile Parle were the stations in between. But related work took me much beyond- right upto Churchgate—
Film City Road was a great place to be in— the nearby Gokuldham was a regular meeting point for our gang, and going to the Krishna temple was always a rewarding experience in more ways than one! The Saibaba temple on the other side, and the Ayyappan temple in Bangur Nagar, in Goregaon West were weekly destinations to add strength to my preparations for CA exams!
And I was fortunate to get a fun loving set of friends; our escapades are too numerous and some a trifle risqué to narrate here. But I must tell about Aarey Garden—or Chota Kashmir as it was proudly called- what a tranquil sanctuary it is in the midst of the concrete jungle- and delicious were the moments that yours truly spent there with a newfound inamorata, and riding up and down that lonely road with the same innocent inamorata in the pillion, stopping ever so often by sudden exaggerated application of brakes at every speed-breaker, and there were plenty of them,(the speed-breakers, I mean) ;))
As I am typing, I am remembering long forgotten pals and events- an unexpected encounter with singer Hariharan in Akbarally’s, the hours spent in what can optimistically pass off as ‘combined study’ in my friend Naveen’s place in Lokhandwala Complex, spending an entire night in Gorai beach and getting ‘tin’ from my father after reaching home in a disheveled state in the morning, the regular forays to Essel World, going by the double-decker ‘Best’ bus from Dindoshi to Charkop to another pal Rajesh’s place and eating mouth-watering Gujju food, Hemant and Zayed who lived in Kandivili and Borivili and who were part of all the fun, teaching them to sing 'Mukkala muquabla'--
Wonderful Aamchi Mumbai!

S.S,
thanx for ur flashback..:)..
btw I used to live in Bangur Nagar..there were 3 temples surrounding the place- Ayyappa, Ram n Durga...was very nice.
But one thing which I cant stand in Mumbai are the trains. They get EXTREMELY crowded...
*,
I was quite small when I was in Mumbai before..so can't remember much of the places in Mumbai other than Goregaon..

aish, yes, I remember the other temples in Bangur Nagar too. Do you recall the famous Ananda Stores off SV Road, the only 'Tamil' shop in the area, where you could all the provisions that Tamil households find so necessary for daily existence?
Of course, Matunga, Chembur and Sion were filled with Tamil shops, but it was a rarity in Goregaon.
And there was a Tamil guy called Baskaran who used to come every Wednesday bringing a sack full of fresh vegetables all the way from Byculla in the train.
He later got his bike and came with his load perched precariously on the pillion. And I was considered very witty by all the aunties when I commented, one wednesday when all were waiting for him anxiously, that he'll come surely, for he is no longer merely Byculla Baskaran, he is now Bike-ulla Baskaran :))
