AR Rahman's Tamil Blockbuster "BOYS"

Rahman's much anticipated "Boys" is set to release soon and everyone is keen on finding out more about this album. Who are the singers? What are the soundtracks like? When is the release date? Will the album be delayed? If anyone has any idea; please post here....

Here is what i found::

Typical of Shankar, the director is not prepared to say much about the film at this point. However, it is known that the film will be very youthful, almost teeny-bop, in content, with the majority of the cast being in the 16-23 age group.

Shankar, apparently, has decided to cast all new faces in his film – and the younger the better.

In fact, a mention in various Tamil periodicals, and an accompanying advertisement to the effect that Shankar was looking for new faces, has created a headache of sorts for the producers. Curriculums vitae have been pouring in to the Surya Movies post box ever since the ad and the story ran in the vernacular press – and last heard from, the flood shows no signs of abating.

Curiously enough, the ad appears – thanks to emails and discussion groups – to have reached an audience abroad as well, with the result that newer batches of applications have US, British and suchlike stamps on them, which suits the producer and director fine since the film does incorporate a lot of NRI faces.

For Shankar, Boys will be a return to romance after Kadhalan, and to comedy after the Aishwarya Rai-Prashanth starrer Jeans. Though the film will feature fresh – and ergo, inexpensive – faces, Shankar maintains that the film will be typical of his style, which means lavish budgets, and expensive production values.

  Thenali: The heat during the first fortnight is subsided. I appreciate Shankar's Approach to changing a few scenes due to many individuals opinion. But I felt amazed to hear people commenting, "Alas Shankar's Scenes has been cut" wondering Shankar's plight

  The Human Rights Commission has issued show cause notices to director Shankar and film producer A.M.Rathnam for depicting the youth in a bad manner in the film 'Boys'.
  
  All participants of a survey conduced by the Human Rights Commission have replied as cinema & satellite Tv channels high lighting the youth in absurd manners. Most of the participants have cited the film 'Boys' as a case for example, based on this, the Human Rights judge Mr.Sambandham issued notices to the film's director and it's producer.
  
  The notice has mentioned -
  
  The film has depicted the youth in a very bad manner and contains double meaning dialogues, which spoil youth's culture. The film was not censored in Tamilnadu instead it was certified at Hydrabad, where the certified officials are to be ascertained to have understood tamil language.
  
  The notice has called for explanations for its queries before the 29th September.
  
  
  
  Now where is the issue of Human Rights here?? Which "Right" has been abused or snatched away??
  
  Humans do have right to maintain culture but that is an individual choice right? As long as I dont cause any physical or financial harm to others I have my choice to voice my opinion on the society.
  
  Did these clowns realise that there is freedom of expression in media?

  first of all,my middle-finger salute to HUMAN RIGHTS COMMISION........... HUMAN rights is the most wrong organisation in India........ when will these guys improve???// why dunt they just go to iraq and estimate the situation there???

  finally MADDY Comes up with a statement to assess his character.
  he is a carefree youth who doesnt hav any concern over the society and can go ahead with asserting that rickshaw drivers are not handsome. he wont giv a helping hand to the people downtrodden and doesnt care abt their plights. 'A PERFECT AMERICANISED YUPPIE'.

  I consider them BS too..
  
  They cannot practically give a better living in Chennai, with clean roads, or water or anything for the matter of fact, they just come to talk about the culture...

  This week 3 films were released - Unnai Saranadaindhen, Naam, Beeshmar.
  
  Boys is managing an 80% collection in the 'A' centers. In the 'B' centers the collection have come down to 60%. In spite of controversies film is running successfully.
  
  'Thiruda Thirudi' is running phenomenally in all the centers A,B,C. Alai in its 1st week has managed 60% collections.

  After the Boys fiasco over vulgarity with even the Tamilnadu State Human Rights Commission issuing a notice against him, Shankar has gone underground!
  
  Shankar’s image is in tatters. He is and being projected as a “peddler of soft-porn” and this has hurt him so badly that he is not available for any comments. Even his best friends are trying to avoid him after he tried to experiment with a brat pack film, which went haywire and he had to face the worst humiliation in life.
  
  When producer A.M.Ratnam who had made many hits with him blamed Shankar for all these problems he thought it's better to take a break! Now the latest we hear is that superstar Vikram met Shankar recently and discussed about a project, which will be an ultimate formula film. Vikram has cancelled his Murugadoss film that he was supposed to do after Pitamagan and has given those bulk dates to Shankar.
  
  Said Oscar Ravichandran, the producer who will be bankrolling the project: “Everybody makes mistakes and Shankar too has gone through a nightmare as far as Boys was concerned. Now he plans to do what he is best at - making a sugar coated entertainment for the masses with superstar Vikram and the film will start in January”.
  
  Shankar is busy with the script and is hoping that he will be able to complete the film in one schedule and release it by August 15, 2004.

  I cannot accept the given rating. Two weeks before even thennavan also was No.1 in sunTV top 10.
  Boys collection may be well in the first week. Later it went poor. Kakka kakka,thiruda thirudi, kadal kondein is doing well than boys.

  I have a question: what happened to UDHAYA? Was the film released? Or, was the audio of the film released? I had heard a couple of songs on Radio Mirchi and Suryan FM, but I had seen no trailers at all in the TVs. What happened? I think the songs were good, especially "Tiruvallikkaeni Raani" song. Waiting for your reply.
