Ganesh and Rajesh, nice to see that you have 2 people posting from the same IP. I think you will find that so far there has been no comparison with ARR in this thread, it has all been decent and just about YSR's music. Please don't drag this thrad down by making it an ARR Vs YSR thread.

newtfmpage admin has
- Added YSR new hits in top 10
- Closed down 'Saathiyaa' page (Probably first ARR individual thread to get closed down. This might also be because of the fact that 'Saathiyaa' is HFM and not TFM)

Hi! Ganesh(pitchi) & Rajesh
I have KM CD and listen to it in the same Van, where I here Thozhi Thozaa. Both are good in their own right.(You don't like the second doesn't mean I am a poor listener)
Regarding KM, it is a serious movie with good music, where as Kadal Samrajyam is a youth movie with couple of good songs(BGM we don't know yet).
KM is above average album, but fell much short in expectation, considering it is a Mani Ratnam movie(It's music is lowest point of all earlier IR&MR and ARR&MR combinations). If you want to compare it with a serious movie of YSR, compare it with Nanda.
I think Nanda scores better than KM(in my opinion).
Thanks for your opinion.

Ganesh(pitchi) & Rajesh,
I like ARR more than YSR as of now. But I also realize YSR, has a good potential to challenge ARR.

My friend who heard the "Manase Manase " song from a recent YSR film (I forgot the film's name) said that it is heavyly inspired from "Sona Sona" song from Bombay Dreams. I have not heard YSR song but have heard BD quite a few number of times. "Manase Manase" fits the sona sona timing...this might be just for me..
But can some one confirm the inspiration.

Are Yaar, although the songs have the same tempo, tha is where the similiarity ends, alos maybe because the first 2 words are repeated in each song. Sona Sona is nothing like Manase Manase, maybe this is the reason that your friend got that feel.

Thanks for your great find Karthik S, Really shocked to see such a 'deva'ish lift from YSR ... (Intha 'Java'Pasanga Inheritance-nnu ennavoo solRaangaLee, ithaanaa athu ? ;-)
Pallavi & Anupallavi are exactly same - what abt. CharaNam ? Is it different or YSR took everything from his father's Song ?
BTW, Your site features in this week's Vikatan - Congrats !!!!!

Thats news! The last time Vikatan featured TFM's copycats sites I wrote to them about my site! But being in Bangalore, we get Vikatan on Wednesdays only. I still insist on buying the printed version than reading online....but this time lemme do both!
I dont think the full Mahadev song is available in Raajangham site, from where I got the audio clipping! So I dunno if YSR took the full song or not!

YSR has taken the full Rhim Jhim song and done a cover version of it. Unfortunately the only mistake is that this was not printed on the Bala cover in most places, but my version does say that Theendi Theendi is based on an IR composition. I will scan the cover and post it guys.

Madhav...I've seen quite a few cassettes of Bala in various shops. No mention of IR anywhere. If, as you say, they've mentioned IR's name in some pieces only, I think YSR can take the audio company to task...after all its his reputation thats at stake. Please do post the scanned cover soon...really curious to see that.

On second thoughts, even the Vikatan write-up on my site mentions about the Bala lift. I strongly suspect that IR hasnt really been mentioned in the tape cover. CD cover....it might be possible. Well, Madhav holds the key, finally.
I should also add here that I can quite easily add a credit to IR in a scanned version of the tape cover using a software like say, Adobe Photoshop :-) So what we're looking for the real version!

Karthik S,
U seem to be such a big IR fan that U say that "Entha Poovilum Vaasam" as an inspiration when it is really a lift of the whole tune.If U can get the whole original song,U will c that it is a total lift.(And this is in my opinion)

Karthik S, :-)))
I hope, atleast after Vikatan's mention - YSR will talk openly on what he was doing with his father's tune ... too bad for him after so much of good work in this year 2002,
Listening to 'theeNdi theeNdi' now in MP3 version - The song is sooooo good - Esp. the way Unni Krish Thaalaattifies the words - konji konji paadi mathimayakkaRaar manushan ! ...... (I guess I already mentioned this as my fav. song in bala - before the copying act was found, No change in my opinion - this is the best song in the album ... unfortunately its not original :-(((
Few days back, there was a discussion on re-doing IR's old classics into 'new look' versions (like it was done for some hindhi movie with R. D. Burman's tunes), After hearing 'theeNdi theeNdi', I guess YSR is the best person to do it - Ofcourse, only if he agrees to give credits to his father :-)))

NagaS:
The hindi cover versions of RDB in Dil Vil Pyar Vyar was pretty average...not as good as what YSR has done to IR's Mahadev's number.
My first choice in Bala is the Shankar Mahadevan number, 'En kannai pidingikkoL'. Absolutely stunning song IMO...very innovative in the use of percussions. Theendi theendi is my 2nd fav...really mesmerizing number (would rate it at par with KV's 'sonnalum ketpadhillai'...though thats again my opinion!).
And now that you mention, I think YSR can do a fab job of IR songs' cover versions going by what he has done in this song. In fact both the song open with a similar sounding violin ensemble - IR takes the violin prelude all the way before starting the song, while YSR gives it a modern touch by replacing the violin extension with other stuff that sound equally good. In fact he uses this bg throughout the song to great effect. Despite the lack of credit to IR, its an amazing song.
Ragam:
:-)
Happens! But that note was for the incredible way IR has adapted the original. A note-to-note lift would be something what Deva generally does...say, Vaali's 'Poo virinjaachu' lifted ditto from The Wonders' 'That thing you do'. There's a big difference between what Deva has done in this number Vs what IR has done!
