  well, now we know why such a plan for selling the cassettes..word of mouth would have otherwise killed the sales..
  something about London and tamil musicians..career killer. first Raja lost his mojo after symphony stuff, now bombay dreams has taken the sting out of rahman's tunes.

  if every rajini fan thinks like you, then we would be left with nothing ... Can u watch just Rajini in a movie without any story and music for 3 hours?
  I would say that the quality of rajini's movies have gone down because people have accepted those movies whatever may be the flaws in it........We, being the fans should raise the bar so that we get better movies and not lower it.... not that the movie requires a story like 'A beautiful mind' and screenplay like Titanic but something that is entertaining to us, which Rajini has done quite well in the past.....I hope Baba will be a great entertainer to us and we could end the discussion then........

  thanks IK,but that song sounds creepy! Nowhere near oruvan,oruvan Mudalali or Enperu Padaiyappa.Ar rehman has done a shitty job.Useless fellow.He is fit only to steal tunes from American Country music and Oldies.

  i totally accept ur points... i have been a rajini fan since the 80s. now i am in usa and when i went to india last month, i was surprised to see my nephew (who is just 4 years old) telling more than 100 Rajini films - u wont believe it - for practising his handwriting, he writes rajini movies very great enthusiasm. i felt that rajini craze hasnt diminished even a little bit and it will continue for the years to come. i hope this will be a big big hit !!!!

  I am more and more convinced he just composes whatever he thinks. He just adds some music deletes some and gives some crap. I will comment each song
  
  1) Dippu Kumari
  
  I think music scored by college students in hostel on desks and chairs would be better than this music. Very ordinary effort by Shankar Mahadevan. Stupid lyrics. Vain attempt to imitate Bangara music. Weird musical mix. Stay away from this song as far as possible.
  
  2) Baba Kichutaa
  
  Indha kartuazham mikka padal, it resembles a lot some muthu song in between. He has just changed into a fast beat. Pronunciation and lyrics less said is better. It resembles a lots of songs from ARR. This song is a testimony to his recycled tunes. Stay away from this song as far as possible
  
  3) Maya Maya
  
  Maya Maya chaya chaya.. resemble some other song of ARR. Another bad tamil Another bad singer from ARR troupe. We should execute the lyricist at sight. I don't know if the singer is bad. Or he asks them to sing bad. Forgettable song. Don't even listen to it more than once.
  
  4) Rajjiyamma Rajjiyamma
  
  If you ever listened to tiruch radio station in 1980 from 12:50 to 1:00 there would be a mellisai. Most it is by T.R.Pappa. If you have listened to that you don't have to listen to this song. T.R.Pappa will sue ARR for plegiarizing!!!
  Bottomline it is another crap.
  
  5)Shakthi kodu
  
  Well it is a bournvita advertisment with hifi music. Lots of action packed music. Instruments used randomly. There is no sequence in composing. It resembles an old song. Tamil pronounciation is horrible. Unforgivable tune.
  
  6) Theme Music
  
  Copy from Italian and Chinese music. Only difference it is no where near the class of
  them
  
  I guess he needs to examine his head before giving out music like this. First thing i did after i listened to these songs, needless to guess i deleted them. I hate Baba music more than Windows 98!!

  My response is very simple:
  
  Its really disgusting to hear such a low grade of music, that too in a Rajnini's Film.
  ARR has punished the hearts of all Rajini Fans.
  We did not expect such a boring score from him.
  I hate all songs , lyrics, music, Singers and mostly the MUSIC DIRECTOR - ARR.
  
  I only hope Rajini has something good for his fans in his acting - Hope is the only mantra to survive in this boring world...

  The talk of the town now is Rahman deliberately f'cked up the music! Well for all you know it might be true. We all know Rahman is talented, no doubt about that! The question really is why did he goof up the music?
  I dont think RK fans deserve any music at all. Those diabolic crowd went and threw stones last time. So f'ck you says ARR!!!!!! God bless him!!
  I am sure most of RK fans just shake their head like a snake for any music, so I dont think ARR would have wasted any time at all to make music let alone good tunes.....
  Hats off to Rahman.....Remember!!! Film music is much more than sitting at a keyboard and playing some tunes...There are politics involved and sometimes we got to play by the rules of these games.

  BABA' HAS arrived!
  
  If half the Tamil-movie followers has been waiting with bated breath for this moment, then, the other half has also been waiting, out of sheer curiosity. And the time has finally come to exchange those coupons for the cassette in theatres.
  
  Has there been any other movie that has been hyped as much as `Baba' in Tamil filmdom? Probably, Maruthanayagam, but non-starters don't count. There is yet no rival to Rajnikant in Kollywood, it does seem.
  
  On to the music tracks. A.R. Rahman had promised, even as he was sending the music for the movie through the Internet, that he was trying innovations with `Baba', giving more than the `jingoistic' music that is a characteristic part of a Rajni movie. His promise has been completely fulfilled in the `Baba' theme song `Ekamevadvitiyam', set to trance-like-rhythms. In that song, melodiously rendered by Srinivas, is contained the crux of the movie: There is only one single entity — the Paramathma.
  
  In direct contrast is the next song, `Dippu Dippu', which starts with a martial beat, slipping into bhangra, and moving on to a beat that sounds extremely familiar Tamil movie music. Something the average Rajni fan will pay to watch. The lively song by Shankar Mahadevan will not disappoint those who are looking for political overtures.
  
  
  The other mentionable is the `Sakthi Kodu' song, rendered by Karthik. `Baba Kichchu', and `Maya Maya' are numbers that complete the list; however, they pull the film's music into the realm of the middling tunes. `Rajyame' by Jayachandran, traces the evolution and power of `Baba', but then, which song doesn't? After all, a Rajnikant movie is a Rajnikant movie.
  
  And as usual, it has run into controversy. Even before it has hit the screens. This time, with some followers of E.V. Ramaswami protesting against some of the words in a particular song. They have taken objection to what they have called unfair commentary on Periyar and his ideology.
  
  The stills from the film released show Rajni and Manisha in Switzerland and on a set. Rajnikant is seen in the film with what looks like a Nepali `khukri'. Just what does Baba have up his sleeve?
