Songs sung out of Agony..

I would like to see a list of songs which convey agony ( not thathuva padalgal or philosophical or sadness - the line is quite thin , let's see how this thread develops ..

1. Thaalatu paadi ..Thayaaga vendum, vegu naalaaga en aasai chinnamma ( the part where a mother's voice says Kanna - is the highlight. I dont know which film or who was the star - probably Sivaji G.

2. Aatuvithal Yaar oruvar ( from Avan than Manidhan - if you watch the movie - Sivaji is in real agony..

  "Thaalaattu Paadi Thaataagaveindum" is by TMS in "Praaptham" where Sivaji( whose character name is "Kannan" ) sings to Savithiri who says "Kanna" in the middle of the song - I have not seen the movie.
  
  Other songs that I can think of now( correct me if I am at tangent with your request )

  I think Kaalamidhu Kaalamidhu is more a Thalaattu . It is differentiate between sad songs and songs sung in agony. Sothanai mel Sothanai is a good choice.
  
  What about Nilai Maarinal Gunam Maaruvaan sung by GK Venkatesh, not the song Vandhanaal mudhal indha naal varai by TMS from Paava Mannippu ?.

  Praptham was Savithri's home production and made without her husband's (GG) approval. The movie was an utter flop and Savithri nodinjufied after that, never recovering.
  
  I have watched the movie a few times and IMO, the story-telling was good. Poor Kannan (Sivaji) loves rich Chinnamma, who gets married to someone else. One day, Chinamma returns to the gramam and Kannan is shocked too discover that she has lost her pottu - yes she is a widow! Thaalaattu paadi thaayaaga vendum comes after that.
  
  There is another good song (agony?) in the movie. I'm sure all of you have hear of "Nethu paraiththa rojaa, naan paarththu paraitha rojaa.
  
  Other excellent songs (tho not related to this topic) are:
  
  Sontham yeppoathum thodakathaithaan mudivey illthathu.
  Santhanaththil nalla vaasam yeduththu
  Ithu maargazhi maasam
  
  BTW, Kannan and Chinnamma are reunited in the next birth (hence Praptham) :-))

  Adding to your agony of Praaptham
  I should mention that the movie was first made in
  Hindi, then in Telegu, before the Thamizh version.
  Probably that was the reason why it failed. In the
  Telegu version Savithri acted with Nageswara Rao.

  I haven't seen the movie (?) but the lyrics seem to suggest agony to me.
  
  BTW most of the agony songs seem to be self-pity/kazhivirakkam songs. Sivaji was a master in these type of songs.

  Has anyone conducted researcht on why people liked to watch suffering on screen.

  What about Yaar Andha Nilavu, Yen indha kanavu - TMS from Shanti. Even the way the music interlude before TMS starts the song and some where in the middle of the song, "vaazhvadhu pol oru bhavanai kaatum nenjame" . Some of the old-gold songs, one can hear over and over again..
