I agree with you!
both these guys are just stealing tunes from
a.r.rahman. useless idiots!!!

Yes, why steal from a.r.rahman when you can steal directly from where a.r.r steals ?

Well said pg ! But stealing might be too strong a word.
Magesh:
KR & YSR have every right to use the same beat loops that ARR uses because they too would have paid good money to buy them, the same way that ARR did. There is no question of stealing. If at all they wanted to steal, they would rather do a 'remix' of their father's vast collection rather than prey on ARR's limited one.
i-dont-want-to-get-beaten:
Neither KR nor YSR are the best. But I think the question raised by J.P.Singh was "who, of the two, is better ?". I don't object to your dislike of YSR or KR. But I don't like your accusing all IR fans in the DF of being IR-family patrons.
J.P.Singh:
I have not heard much of YSR. But I think KR proved his ability to fit into the world of FM with Ullasam. It was a mature project on KR's part. But I think he still has a long way to go before matching ARR's ability to feel the pulse of the people.

Dear Mr.Mahesh,
First time around, it was the word "Sycophant", which was liberally used -
now, you are using the two words "USELESS IDIOTS"
Mind you, this is an open DF - let us have some decency here -
I don't understand how Mr.Ravi can keep quiet when somebody posts such atrociously blasphemy.

Please read "atrociously" as "atrocious" in the above posting

Dear forum
IR is the best for the last two decades in tamil music
He can make any tune into big hit Nobody can replace him.
Everytime I lisin to his new movie music it looks different.
I challenge all armchair critics to produce music that can be appriciated by the mass media
AR is diifferent( more instruments orienated). No comparison please.
Would you please any body tell me how many tamil movies IR have directed music

Both KR and YSR are too immature. they have a very long way to go. It is not right to discuss this topic. My vote goes to IR and ARR.

YSR music naan avalava kettadillai. But naan ketta varaikkum KR has been doing very very good. I was really impressed when I heard songs from 'manikkam'. Very soft... like his dad's..yet new and rich.
Later 'ullasam' and recently 'naam iruvar namakku iruvar' and then 'kaadhala kaadala'.. all are simply fantastic tunes.
I don't know whether the guys talking here so bad about KR has ever listened to his songs indepth.
Try listening to his songs when you are alone in your room or in your car.. you will rediscover the soothing tunes of the great maestro in his son KR.
So, nomore hardwords about KR, okay guys???
thanks,
mohan.

Mohan,
Listen to YSR, then you will realise.. I heared both KR & YSR. Don't come to conclusions.
Have you watched the film Manikkam?? padam paththeengana... indha patta edhukku inga pottanganu kettka vaikkum??
Eg:- Sandhanam thechachu en mama
&
Rakkama, Rakkama...
Padathai parthathum mayakkamE vanthuduchchu... appadiyoru sodhappal.
ofcourse YSR also made same kind of mistake. The 'dance master' is total waste in Aravindhan

prakash,
thanks for the reply. I honestly say that I have never had a chance to listen to YSR songs. Even some of the songs of KR, are big sodhappals..kadees.. but I haven't heard the name YSR before...
othukkiren... some songs in manickam are big kadis. But what do you say about the song 'unakkena raasa..' nalla illiya?
Maybe if I listen to YSR's tunes, I might like him better.
But I got pissed off when people here outrightly coined them as 'idiots'.. which is not true.
mohan.

by the way prakash,
the song 'eera nila' by YSR in 'aravindan' is a very very nice song...makes me soar up into the sky.

"Oyvedu Oyvedu Nilavae" from the film Velai was a super song by Yuvan shankar...but not appreciated because of the low profile of the film and the adv...hence YSR is sure a good music director and comparing ARR to Karthik Raja KR does a good job in BGM than the screaming and howling of ARR.
- From: Geetha (@ gatekeeper.oracle.co.uk)
on: Thu Jul 9 10:22:56 EDT 1998
YSR has done so little that it's very hard to compare them. The Oyvedu song from Velai is excellent, but the rest in the film left a lit to be desired....His Kadhal Kadhal(all the best) was also nice, but the rest of the film music wasn't too hot. I read in an ARR interview that ARR was commenting that YSR had a lot of un-trapped talent and is going to be very big and something like, he's a genius..... He didn't say much about KR's style.
KR is fairly consistent, but not very original, it's copied here there and everywhere. He appears to be a big fan of Latino beats, which he constantly lifts(e.g 'Hello Mr. Kaadala from "Naam Iruvar Namakku Iruvar". The pallavi is straight lift from "Hey Buenos Aires" from the musical "Evita". The meter is complete lift from the same song.')....He's produced a few very nice melodies, but a lot is a fusion of ARR and IR.
Lets wait until they produce more albums and return to this topic....I feel that YSR does have a lot of Originality and potentia and am awaiting his next release.

KR and YSR should just break away from film music and do something new in world music. Film music is exhausted and their Father has done everything that there is. What more is there for KR and YSR to do in film music? Even ARR is going in a loop, he is beating his own songs to death.
