  "Irunthalum valnthalum per solla vendum, ivar pola yarendru oor solla vendum" This fits him well in Panam Padaithavan. His life is very much depicted in his cine songs- too numreous to mention here. He had only one great loss in life which he later admitted openly when the fil pillaiyo pillai was released. He recollected the song in Panam padaithavan. "Enakkoru magan Pirappan avan ennai polave iruppan" He may be gone physically, but he still lives with us by way of his lively songs.

  I have read that IR was signed up as MD for MGR's last (unmade) film "annaa en theivam". Dont know if there were any songs recorded.

  pg - What hasn't MGR got to do with TFM? If I may, shall I put it in another way? Can you imagine TFM without MGR - a whole chunk of TFM would be absent!
  
  Pagalavan - if I am not wrong, Pakiaraj used portions of Anna Yen Deivam in one of his movies. Pakiaraj is the son of MGR's sister. Flashbacks are used to show MGR, who even sings a song. Anyone can recollect the title of the movie? I don't think the music for this movie was by IR.

  Pagalavan is right about IR scoring for an
  MGR movie which was never made. I forgot
  the name of the movie.
  Malaysia vasudevan has sung a song in this
  movie. Ithai avare oru interview-la solli

  MSV was the MD for Anna en dheivam. Five
  songs were released in 1978 (see PPP for details).
  The movie was dumped after it was only 20% complete.
  Bhagyaraj used this part, mixed his story and
  made a movie titled Avasara Police. The
  movie was an utter flop. Only one of MSV's songs,
  namely, en maappiLLaikku indha maNip payalai
  was used in A'Police. The song is sung by MGR in

  Pagalavan:
  Ilayaraja was signed up for the MGR film called Unnai Vida Maatten. Valee was entrusted with the task of writing lyrics. But within a short period MGR became the Chief Misister of Tamilnadu and the film was dropped. Nevertheless Ilayaraja composed music and sang on the funeral procession of MGR - "Poguthe Uyir Poguthe"

  'Unnai Vida Maatten' was planned to be shot and released hurriedly, in the short period of six months, in the earlier half of 1980, when the first MGR Govt. had been dismissed and elections were due under president's rule. If it had materialised, it would have been the last MGR film after 'Maduraiyai meetta...' and the only film made after he became CM in 1977!

  Another interesting trivia about MGR's Unnai Vida Maatten: Remember reading long time back (must have been during MGR's hospitalisation in 1984) that a song was composed by Ilayarja with 5 singers - TMS, PBS, SPB, KJY and MV singing together. Wonder those songs must have got lost in the recording theatres of Prasad and AVM.
  
  With Sivaji's first death anniversary, I could only think of Mr Manisekaran's statement in the KVM article about the two thilakams. Whatever be it, for more than a generation of Tamils, they were the stars and affected their lives tremendously.
