Y'day i listened to the song "Rasave Unna Nambi" Janaki's masterpiece.. i still feel she should have shared the award with chitra(sindu bhairavi) for that year's best female playback singer.
It starts with beautiful humming.. it is awesome... actually the humming is different from song tune

Kum Laden these teen-age boy dialogues like ARR Rulez won't be bought by people. If you know some songs just add.. don't ask how can you forget. You have also forgotten so many songs..
I think IR revolutionized this humming thing... he set the trend others followed suit..

nope sirs the founding fathers are the MDs of the early thamizh movies. May be we can say SVV, GR, SMS as pioneers in this humming. Many of their songs have great humming before songs (not only "aaaa" but many).

No offences meant.Can you list GR/SVV/SMS s songs with hummings. As promised NO AAAA like in Ethanai kalam than ematruvar song.
IMHO MSV-TKR Pasamalar s "Yaar Yaar" started the hummings in a big way.

Kupps i am pretty sure some songs would have started with humming. But just look at the songs i listed and how they went on to become hits. I am not saying IR started it.. I said IR revolutionized it. His humming had wonderful interludes of music also. example.. Ennathil edho from kallukkul eeram. Those who have had deep understanding about TFM will agree that. Kum_laden just because it is new it doesn't mean i should have stuck in my mind. I have heard that songs couple of times. Not such an extraordinary song to remember that for lifetime. I have listed some other songs of ARR too. I say the samething to you. You don't have the right to say anything to me you moron. What you said was a joke?

btw MSV technique was more like he used to open the songs with lines that is different from song.
For example
1) Naalai indha velaidhan(great song) starts with Pal Polave and never repeats.
2) Azagiya Tamizh Magal Ival - starts with something like (Ani pon.. something like that it never repeats)

Contribute all the hummings songs.. MSV, SAR, Deva, Sirpy.. everybody.. i have given whatever that came to my mind... don't make this thread another "war zone". A person who is not prejuidiced will give all the songs.

Yes, MSV-TKR gave some very sweet hummings at the
beginning of songs. For instance, the one in thendral
varum thoodhu varum of paalum pazhamum. But
I am not sure whether they introduced it in TFM.
Songs such as azhaikkaadhE (maNALanE mangaiyin
Bhagiyam), AdAdha manamum AdudhE (kaLaththoor
kaNNamma) are some earlier songs that I can immediately
remember.

MSV-TKR period and the prior periods had "Thogayarah" in lots.Even the "aani ponn" from Rickshawkaran is a Thogayarah - a sort of recitation.To quote some more thogayarah s
"Kutila kundalam" from "Dheena Karunakarane"
"Chillendru pooth" from " Aval Senthamizh then"
But humming before their period .... i really doubt.I am sure an Alapana like "Paatum Nane" or "Singaravelene" wont be confused up with hummings.
