6 Songs : Mind Blowing!!

Simply mind-blowing
November 20
Ajay Devgan and Vivek Oberoi can’t stop raving about the songs of Mani Ratnam’s Yuva. “A.R. Rahman and Mani Sir and dynamite together,” says Vivek on the sets of Indra Kumar and Ashok Thakeria’s Masti, and adds, “The six songs Rahman has recorded for the film are mind-blowing.”
Ajay Devgan, his co-star in Yuva and Masti, uses the same words to describe them. Incidentally, when the film was launched earlier this year, Mani Ratnam had decided not to have a single song in it.
Vivek also feels that Abhishek Bachchan’s is the best role and best performance in the film. “That guy’s career will take off in a big way after Yuva,” predicts Vivek.

Mr.Gyan...
what's there to be called as inspiration in that track...even after repeated hearings...i don't feel any clear lifted parts in it...certain lines before the phrase 'We never die' bear very very vague and slight similarity with 'Yaakai thiri'..they don't even sound close to each other...What a mindless allegation?..if such instances of sounding same has to be listed...that will be a grossly silly idea....everybody can comeup with some track and put allegations as this line sounds somewhat similar when heard that way.etc.etc..and Mr.Aswathamma..did you really hear the song?...i don't think so...you have gone for a sweeping statement..'What a copy??'
that goes to show your level of ignorance or the blind 'veri' or 'Vayetherichal' you have on ARR..great going dude..the day is not far away..when we will hear you ppl saying something like this
"Hey yesterday i watched a german movie,in which the hero-heroine were running along the beach ,laughing ,giggling..Mani copied the scene for his AE..song.....oh what a copy??"
The allegation is as silly as this...
Atleast i can take this..the trumbone sound in Dol Dol reminds us of the James bond track but then turns differently..a vague similarity..which can again be at best called as coincidence..or a case of inspiration coming in....I don't know with seven swaras..how many different chords can be produced..always one track may have a vague similarity with someother one at anyother part of the world....unless we find a strinking similarity, the composer is not to be alleged. This allegation is total hogwash.
If this has to be taken as a point almost all western bands bear this similarity...some J.Lo track may remind you of some Britney kuppai..what to say abt that?
But whatever be it..let me post this allegation on the copied thread..let Karthick.S give his insight on this...

Mr. Gyan,
You did sound sensible compared to your arr bashing frds. Sadly ith u posting that link , proclaiming that ARR copied FANAAH from that song, you too have lost the little crditiblity u might have had with anyone of us.
What are the similarities, u point out! I fail to understand your logic!
In simple words i can describe you>>> LOOSER, thats what you are!

Apidi Podu is No. 1 Usually when Rahman's movie released the songs always debut no. 1. But for the past two years they debut no. 5 or 8..That show how much ARR music has faded...

"He shrugs off comments that music for the movie by A R Rahman is far below the expectation, suggesting there was a different objective: “You shouldn’t look at the songs in isolation. We’ve deliberately made it sound the way it is, mainly because, we wanted the music to go with the mood of the film. May be, audience would change their mind, once they watch the film.”
http://www.deccanherald.com/deccanherald/may232004/enter4.asp
Please note "May be" in his interview. Audience mood never changed as they did vote off JJ in TN they flopped AE/Yuva BIG TIME. ARR is the root cause of the failure that will be Maniratnam's statement when he hires Harris Jeyaraj for his next movie.

Thamizhan and Fact File, that is because the Rahman version is a weak copy of the original French song. It is more or less a copy, don't get me wrong. It takes 100 hearings to like a Rahman song, but 1 hearing these days is enuff to tell you he is copying left right center.

Vikatan and Tamil cinema has already posted their review with below average and what is the point i n arguing, the movie is hit. We are all going to see how many days this movie is going to run. I belive Vikatan, I didn't see the movie yet, but I have been reading vikatan from 16 Vayathinile (got 65 marks). Vikatan is almost 99% will be correct.

Aswathama' Sardar will be back for the Yuva II, like You Too.
piratheepan: what can i say? you r accusing me, i am just discovering where all ARR is goin now for new loops, raves, rhythms, songs, tunes, beats, etc.... You call Aakai Thiri a song? It is the limit of tolerance, sir. It is also blatant inspiration, more or less weakest copy I've heard in music business.
From Sweden to China to Broadway to France.... All I am sayin is, I want Oru Gin Naal Tea, Aiyya.
Rahman, please rise up, spend time with an Orchestra and Gurus, not press conferences and your Yamaha keyboards. Wake up, Yuvas. Smell the TEA, I say. ;---))

Finally,I got to watch Aayidha Ezhuththu...sigh. Veli oor ponaalum ponaen, MR padaththai 10 days kazhichu paarka vaendiya periya sacrifice ellam panna vendiyadha poachu! :-)
Honestly speaking, I have never been so excited about a Maniratnam movie. I like MR and I just make sure that I watch it in the theatre atleast once, that's it. But AE had me curious for some reason. Having the urge to watch it on the first day doesn't occur that often to me. Ofcourse I was in school when Kannathil Muthamittal was released and now that I am in college, my attitude might be slightly different! ;-)
10 daya aachu...neways, since I am pretty much vetti as always, I am going to sit down and type a review. It is actually hard to type out a review for a Maniratnam movie. You need to feel it to understand the movie. Mere words can never give a clear picture. There may be a few spoilers here and there. But, I don't think they would be spoilers any more. Padam release aagi 10 days aagiduchu. Innum paarkaatti, vekka kaedu! :-D [Nalla vaela enakku tickets kedachudhu, illana indha dialogue ellam adikka mudiyuma?!]
And yeah, the size of the review is directly proportional to how bored I am. So, lets see what fate has to say! :-)
Yaar thittinaalum seri....Amazing movie!! There may be some flaws here and there which are not that common in a Maniratnam film, but comparing it to movies like Gilli, Arul and Edhiri is simply atrocious. AE is in a class of its own in my opinion. It might have been inspired, but according to me, the end product is satisfactory.
Surya, Madhavan, Siddharth, Trisha, Meera, Esha are all very good in the movie. They have done their job perfectly. Surya, Madhavan, Bharathiraja and Meera have excelled and the others are not far behind. Ella heroines-um azhaga therinjaanga actually. Ravi K Chandran-oda lens dhaan kaaranam-a? :-) Trisha-oda blue colour dhaan enakku romba pudichadhu! ;-)
The dialogues, well, they definitely need some mention. They are just extraordinary in most places. Sidharth's one liners and Surya's replies were two main things I enjoyed. Surya Vs Bharathiraja and Surya Vs Madhavan deserve special mention. Nalla nakkal! But at the same time, there were some nasty little dialogues too. Not vulgar, but they were just disgusting to find their way into a Mani movie. Perhaps that's how such characters need to be projected. I am happy however that there were nothing offensive.
The fights were kinda proper. In the sense that special effects being used at the right places rather than for the normal "parandhu parandhu adichufying stuff". They were more realistic.
Another thing which I like about the movie is that it is not dominated by any "hero". People almost have an equal share and an equal opportunity to prove themselves. It is more a director's film, which is how, perhaps, films should be.
Madhavan's character was something which I liked. It is a complete negative character. A person who is more instinctive. Looks like he feels for something in one scene and ends up doing the same thing not realising that this was what he felt bad about! More importantly, this is not a usual negative character played by heroes. I mean, normally when heroes take up such roles they realise something and become do-gooders. But that is not the case here. I am happy that the character has been preserved in an apt manner and not let loose like in a normal Tamil film. I also like Madhavan's accent coz it was kinda realistic.
As for Surya, I loved all his encounters with Bharathiraja. Nicely done. And as for Sidharth, I loved all his scenes with Trisha in it! :-D
The way the story was narrated was enjoyable and it was able to sustain my interest throughout the film. The flow was smooth despite the flashbacks that you fall upon every now and then. You curiosity just keeps increasing as the story progresses and that is something that I enjoyed. There was never a point when I felt bored. Enjoyed the narration. But I have a feeling that it would have been slightly better if Michael's part had been told after Siddharth's. Like some bubbly characters between two serious one's might just have been better.
Continued... :-)

I don't honestly see why Mani had to settle for an A certificate for this film. There were some steamy scenes alright, but I don't think they were all that vital to this movie or anything. They could have just been done away with. Maddy's love for Meera-va ippadi dhaan project pannanumnu illai, in my opinion. Idhu illama irundha U certificate kedachirukkum and that would have been much better. Not that it hampers anything, but you know, just like that, chumma! :-)
RaviKChandran has done a wonderful job. I guess enough has been mentioned about this. Almost everyone touches upon this issue coz it's just not something you can miss out when you are talking about Aayidha Ezhuththu.
Music.. :-) .. Songs paththi innum solla vaendiyadhu illai-nu ninaikkaraen. Yaerkanavae adhellam poattu kudainju thalliyyachu...just one word - brilliant! :-) BGM was pretty decent. Amzing-nu ellam solla maataen, but it wasn't that bad. People complain that ARR uses the songs as BGM, but when he uses the glass breaking sound in JanaGanaMana as a BGM for Surya, I definitely don't have any complaints. Kannadi udaiyara saththam enakku romba pidikkum! :-)
The way the songs were picturised..well, they weren't classy or anything. They were good. Dol Dol, Fanaah and GoodByeNanbha were awesome. Sandai Kozhi was ok. JanaGanaMana romba disappoint pannichu mudhal-la, nondhuttaen! Ippadi oru paattu ippadi naasama poachaennu! But that wasn't the song actually. Verum BGM dhaan-nu appuram paattu varachae dhaan purinjudhu! :-) It was picturised just as I thought, adhunaala onnum disappointment ellam illa.
Someone said that Maniratnam is incapable of including humour in his movies. Well if you watch the movie you would just grt to know that it is light humour, nothing that would make you ROTFL. But something that you would enjoy at that moment. Timely jokes. Adhuvum humour-la saeththi dhaaney? Ella padathilayum ippadi dhaan irukkum humour. You can't expect a seperate track for Vivek or Vadivelu in a Maniratnam film.
The ending of the film - lotsa people seem to complain about it. But to me, it was very impressive. After quite a while something has been conveyed in a Tamil film. Atleast naan paartha Thamizh padathula message irundhu romba naal aachu! :-) It was just light and apt. Nothing drastic or revolutionary. Perhaps that is not someting people welcome as a film ending? I liked the way it was portrayed - just making a beginning, rather than an unrealistic sweep in the election. Vaalibar koottani vaal eduththaal, vala pakkam bhoomi thirumbi vidum!
Idhai skip panninavanga escape aagiteenga...idhai padichavangalukku : Totrure-ku sorry! :-D
