I always felt that SPB always faltered as compared to Vani Jayaram or S Janaki in Sankaraparanam. I recently heard these songs by Mano - he did them much better.

So Mano > spb. It is only Mano's humility that he says "SPB is my guru".

this is the most stupid statement.
Mano is a crude imitator of SPB. He lacks shruthi control.he can never render the mind blowing songs of SPB.

How come u can say like this raj.SPB enge mano enge..u even nobody couldn't compare the both persons.see spb's ekduje keliye songs...its very fantastic one for his pronounsation.even in high pitch also his voice will stand on the top...
so,i am not hesitate mano..he is doing his way better.but its not good to compare the both.

Since he is a muslim, He pronounces hindi well ie grammatically than SPb ..Many hindi people also accept this..

Mano is a very proficient singer but SP bala is the guru!!
Listen to the songs of Naushad's Teri Payal Mere Geet!!!
SP renders these songs with perfect pronounciation and diction!

By the way both these singers have disappeared from the hindi scene! Any ideas why???????
Especially the great SP Bala....!!! I want to hear him sing hindi songs again!

Mano Sir ushuly keep his deep kattais in home when he go reckording. That is for respecting SPB. Mano Sir like no comparisun. Actuly, Mano Sirs kattais are deepest than SPB.

well ..there is no point comparing Mano with SPB becoz after all , as Mano himself agrees he started his carrier from SPB's shadow (his voice was so typical that of SPBs that gave him early break)

Mano himself is wise to understand that and now he is doing a good job differentiating himself from SPB ..

Whereas for SPB, his melodious voice was first of its kind ..and he had to establish his voice and modulation in people's mind.which I think he did so perfect now everyone (even who hates to accept him as NO 1) talks about him

there is a new singer on the block, "AFZAL" from KERALA, who resembles SPB's voice, but even better than SPB. The guy is gradually making forays into other south indian languages.

Afzal may sound like SPB.

But in terms of ability to sing with 'ghamakams' and 'Brukas' with effortless ease, no body can ever come anywhere in the range of SPB. Further be it romance, pathos, hoodling or pure melody SPB stands head & shoulder above all.
His shruthi is immaculate

Afzals and Manos can only be shadows of SPB.

we indians have this tendency for blind devotion. this accounts for the opinion of many spb fans here.

but the fact is, in many songs MANO's singing is better than SPB's. SPB may be a legend. but MANO is definitely better on many counts. just listen to his music.
this is not to run down SPB, but to put the record straight.
blind devotion destroys objectivity.

Mano is better or not better than SPB; I am not talking about that now.

Mano does not have control on his shruthi and in many of his songs this aspect comes out clealy.If you listened 'EnnavaLe... engirundai nee than' in the pallavi itself he falters in shruthi. There are many more of mano's songs with faltering shruthi.

SPB is immaculate in his shruthi control.Mano is just like Mahendra Kapoor( similar to Rafi's voice) who also used to miss his shruthi in many of his songs, though MK has sung many good songs.

As a singer myself and a good music lover this is my dispassionate obeservation
