With all these crap threads on IR vs ARR, whereas they cannot be compared, why shouldn't we discuss about HJ and ARR ??
Same style of music, same instruments ...
So, do you guys think that HJ is better than ARR ?
In fact, with the latest super hit of ARR, we can think so ...
HCARRFans ... it's all in the game ....

Ha! Nice way of 'distracting' seriously involved HCIRFans and HCARRFans from their 'duties'....Beaware all "HC"s out there....this is a ploy to sidetrack from the main game of the day....like China attacking India while India is busy with Pakistan (if u know what I mean)...:-))

After HJ left ARR,ARR started giving flops. It looks like HJ helped ARR from Roja to KK. Then ARR went downhill.
HJ the greatest.

When dey were studying together, ARR pinched him and HJ got totally upset about it. He later decided to avenge dis insult and swore dat he would see to it dat ARR is vanquished if at all he makes it big in da music world. HJ proved dat.

Why is that the matha farkers from ARR camp find it disgusting when others use vulgarity but not when MADMAN(boy/gal/eunuch?) MADDY use it?

Greetings all,
I just chanced upon this site (&topic) by chance today, and decided to leave my comment. First, let me introduce myself. I have a Performer's certificate (= Grade 8 + 1) in Keyboard with special merit and distinction D from Trinity College of Music, London. (FYI, this is probably the highest certification offered by the college for keyboardists), but it is impossible for me (or for that matter, anyone with the same level of learning as mine) to _COMPARE_ ARR and HJ's "music".
However, I could compare them in one respect: ARR worked with Illayaraja and of course, learnt a lot from him. But, when he came out and started his career as an independent MD, he did NOT copy Illayaraja's style in the least. He created his own, revoulutionising the Tamil music industry. But, Harris Jeyaraj also worked for many years with ARR, but when he came out as an independent MD, he ... well, you all know what!
I am open for any questions or comments. Please send them to robbiestanford007@hotmail.com if possible or just post them here, in this forum.
Thank you one and all.

Greetings all,
Well, this is my second comment of the day :). Though I still maintain that music can't be compared, I have just noticed (after seeing Kakka Kakka and Boys in succession), that, Harris Jeyaraj's BGM in the film is not even near to ARR's. It's either HJ does not put in as much effort and hard work as ARR or HJ is not capable of conveying emotions with music. All I had noticed in his films is that, he keeps playing a solo instrument of a tune of the next song in the film for all scenes. But, ARR has from the very start of his career had concentrated on the BGM as much as the songs, and this, had in many instances paid off as one of the reasons for the film's success. For an example of the exquisiteness of ARR's BGM, I recommend watching the film "May Matham".
Also, somebody in this forum had said ARR had not produced a hit such as HJ's 'Vaseegara' in "2001". But, isn't that HJ's first film? Isn't it natural that he had chosen the best tunes from so many he would have created during all his years into music? But, in 2001, ARR had been doing music for more than 10 years and more than a 100 songs. So, there IS a difference. If you want, you compare HJ's Minnale with ARR's Roja. What a splendid BGM! I bet you remember the emotions that the BGM in the film (when Arvind Swamy rolls over the burning flag to extinguish it) conveyed. And, what hits! Now, you may argue that Illayaraja had been doing music for many decades and still giving hit songs. But, was ALL his songs a sensational hit? No. He does 10 films (experimenting) and by that time, he gets enough good tunes to do a Mani Rathnam movie. But, ARR only gives the best. So, there is no use comparing ARR and Illayaraja. But, it is still amazing to me how great music ARR had given to us in Boys. (Again, I stress that ARR's songs convey emotions where HJ's does not). You may again argue that ARR was able to give many hits because HJ was with him! Nice theory. But, it is definitely not the keyboardist HJ who composes the tunes. He only *plays* what the master had asked him to. It is ARR who does all those mixing and matching. So, there's absolutely no parallel to ARR!
I am open for any questions or comments. Please send them to robbiestanford007@hotmail.com if possible or just post them here, in this forum.
Thank you one and all.

Robbie,
But, was ALL his songs a sensational hit? No.
Dont you think what you say is totally baseless and untrue?.
I dont want to be rude.. Please next time when you say things, base your facts, if your listening priority is ARR, it is OK.
IR fans are idiots and dont know music.. thanks for that.. Since you passed Keyboard exams from Trinity college, WE HAVE TO ACCEPT WHAT YOU SAY!! What a plight for IR fans?

Dear MusicIsLife (and Anbe Sivam)
First of all, I apologise with all my heart if I had hurt your feelings for IR for never did I mean to offend him. All I meant was that, as far as my observations were concerned, I had noted that IR had not concentrated as much as Rahman (& not that IR is not capable... I fully know that he is a real genius to compose such great melodies with just a notebook and a pen) because in many of his movies, I couldn't see beautiful BGM or nice songs as seen in his Hit films like Punnagai Mannan or Agni Natchatram or ... well, the list does go on and on. But, as far as I had "observed", ARR has seemed to give music of equal quality in almost all his films. I am sorry again if my comment had hurt you. Again, by sensational hits, I did not mean great CD sales, but the emotions ARR's songs conveyed. I said it in the sense of the literal meaning of the word, "sensation". So, this is just a matter of opinion, and hence, you cannot say that my statement was baseless. Sorry again but I have to say that I did not intend my article as a IR vs. ARR feud. Thanks again.
And, as far as your comment on my learning goes, I have to say that I never wanted you to trust my qualifications. I just mentioned it as an intro of mine since that was my first post in this forum. So, it is your own wish to believe it or not! However, if you still insist on proof, you can please mail me at: robbiestanford007@hotmail.com and I can mail you back scanned photocopies of my certificates. I started off on grade 4, then did successive grades upto 8 including the First Concert certificate, then completed my grades 1 to 3 before appearing for the Performer's exam. However, I studied them only in India. I am also appearing for Piano grades exams conducted by ABRSM (Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music) next November. You can contact PRO MUSICALS, Chennai for more info.
Anyway, thank you very much for your comment so I was able to explain my position better.
Regards,
Robbie Stanford

these awards cound does count for making a movie hit for tamil movie fans except in marketing the award count might help.
Still directors trust IR for movie not just as MD but like a hero of the movie, but ARR -- a sound engineer or MD only.
