The aim of this thread is to collect, at one place, interesting
stories, anecdotes, tit-bits etc, related to TFM. A newcomer to
the forum will find this collection very interesting to read. For
example, Ramki mentioned the following story in another thread:

  Dear TFM fans
  
  This week's Kungumam carries an article by SAR where he mentions about ARR's contribution during Chinna Poove Mella Pesu's song recording with usage of some electronic gadget (rhythm box?). ARR is supposed to have worked under SAR for some time. Can somebody give more details on this?

  Vairamuthu’s son enters literary world
  
  Chennai, June 23: Noted film lyricist Vairamuthu’s son, Vai Kapilan, today launched his first book, `Ulagam Yaavaiyum’, a collection of Tamil poems and also made his first speech from a public platform which indicated that like his father, he would be a good writer and orator too.
  Writer Savi released the book at an impressive function here, marked by the presence of a large number of youth. Savi said Kabilan would go far since he was imaginative, strong in literary skills and fresh in his approach and thinking.
  The proud parents, Vairamuthu and Ponmani, were seated among the audience while dignitaries including writer Sivasankari, film actor Sivakumar, Prof. K. Gnanasambandan and M. Muthiah heaped praise on the young poet.
  Sivasankari said she was happy that Kabilan was not obsessed with love like many other poets. It was also noteworthy that he was positive in his approach.

  A.R.Rehman(original name;Dhulip Kumar),was working as a keyboard player under SAR now & then.He used a yamaha computer to sequence the music.It was an entry level computer.When wanted to download the music for recording it crashed.He then used my sequencer to complete the song.

  Indha padathile MSV ghazal typle oru song paNNaar but unfortunately indha pattu avvaLava hit aaglaii but enakku romba pidicha pattidhu..(thedum kaN parvai thavikka)
  
  3)'vaan nila nila alla un ' - I will rate this as one of the best songs I have sung. Indha pattukku mettu pottaachu..elaam lines la la mudikkumbadiya MSV pannirndhaar. Pattezhuda vandha kannadasan..
  'ennaiya ninaichittirkeenga..unga ishtathukku la la venumnaa naan enge poven' satham pottar.

  4)Ilaiyaraja was basically a guitarist. Appuram he learnt to play every instrument.. Western classical 8 level pass paNNitaar. Avar romba kashtapattu paNNa oru guitar piece'iLaiya nilaa pozhigiradhu'-indha pattukku
  guitar vasichavar avaruthaan. It took 27 takes to record this song. Indha musicai reproduce paNradhu romba kashtam..we have performed this song in many concerts but edhuvume perfectaa vandhadhille.
  
  5)Naan paadina mudhal pattu 'aayiram nilave vaa'..indha song recording podhu I fell sick. Shootingkkaaga Jaipurle ella aerpadum paNNittanga. The producers couldn't wait for me to recover so they wanted to record the song with another singer. But MGR put his foot and said'ivan chinna paiyan idhuthaan first pattu
  indha pattu avaNukku kidaikkalenna he may not get another chance..we should wait for him'.
  Enakkaga they waited for 20 days. That was the magnanimity of MGR
  
  6)Sivaji sir-TMS combination romba popularaa irundha samaiyam..viswanathan sir made me sing for him. En voice avarukku eppidi suit aagumonnu bayandhutte irundhen but sivaji sir was so supportive and said nee kavalaipadadhe balu naan shootingle parthukkiren.
  Padam release aagi naan parthappo I was surprised to see that he changed his gestures to suit my voice.
  
  7)naan recenta paadina paatuliye romba pidichadhu
  'satham illadha thanimai ketten'(he sings that song but changes the last 2 lines to
  'maraNam vendaam vazhkkai kettten'). Indha pattoda azhage adhoda varigaL. Kaviarasu vairamuthu ezhudhinadhu..ippo avar engo usarathikku poittaar..avaroda thiramaikku innum mele povaar.

  When audience questioned about his age he replied
  'en peru thaan Balasubramaniamaach so naan ennikkum chinna paiyanthaane'
