6 Songs : Mind Blowing!!
Source :HinduTimes

Simply mind-blowing
November 20
Ajay Devgan and Vivek Oberoi can’t stop raving about the songs of Mani Ratnam’s Yuva. “A.R. Rahman and Mani Sir and dynamite together,” says Vivek on the sets of Indra Kumar and Ashok Thakeria’s Masti, and adds, “The six songs Rahman has recorded for the film are mind-blowing.”
Ajay Devgan, his co-star in Yuva and Masti, uses the same words to describe them. Incidentally, when the film was launched earlier this year, Mani Ratnam had decided not to have a single song in it.
Vivek also feels that Abhishek Bachchan’s is the best role and best performance in the film. “That guy’s career will take off in a big way after Yuva,” predicts Vivek.

I wish you guys see AE on screen. now-a-days it is kind of good trick for the producers to release the movie in VCD's themselves deleting some scenes like what happened with AUTOGRAPH.
That strategy i like... it is the same with perazhagan, Gilli.
CP
Gilli being a hit, i can agree, it is kind-a good movie.
I dont usually like the Comparison for quality of movie's by collections..

Turn it upside down and podu, a dosa needs to be cooked on both sides :)
btw, if they allow only one song/movie then appadi podu should be no 2 after AE.

C~P, Jacky, Paran and etall,
Saw the movie AE and one thing that caught me was the wonderfull alaap sung by ARR in "Yakkai thiri" being wasted by some sloppy picturisation. Was really heart broken to see a good director wasting a great song.
Apart from that the movie was good and had some fine moments.
Sorry for the digression :)

"Sorry for the digression :)" - Wake up call, Huh :)
Ya it was sad to see the alaap pucturised when Sidd and Trisha talk on the dance floor.
Btw, A similar one in Sadai koli was picturised well.

Only the aalap part of it. Otherwise, it seemed pretty good. It was odd to see the "Ni Ri Sa Sa" stuff being treated like a rap. Kaiyya aatti aatti romba peter-a paadinaan oruththan kulla poattukuttu :-)

Today's edition of The Hindu has appreciated AE and dubbed it as a "classy film, ahead of it's times". The ending, it said, was abrupt and more like Shankar's films. But this ending was something which I especially liked :-)

Mani Ratnam and the "relative grading" syndrome!
Guest Blog 14 - Anand C
Good students are good students in the Indian education system, regardless of how well others perform. You get "first class" if you have 60%. Simple!
However in the American educational system you could get a 'B' if you got 60% and half the class scored higher than you. On the flip side, you could get less than 40% and still get a 'B' if most of the class is behind you. The key to decide which side of the 'bump in the bell curve' one sits on is which class you get compared to!
If Mani Ratnam's Aayitha Ezhuthu is analyzed a la the Indian education system (i.e., by itself, not in comparison with his past films), he would get a great grade - commercially and critically speaking. Most current reviews though seem biased in one form or another by the "relative grading" syndrome.
What do you think?
