Dear friends,
we obviously have had detailed discussions on MD's, vocals, etc. But there is a small itch that "Have we forgotten the guys who spent a fortune on bringing to us these starlets to the oustside world, where some have hit the peaks and some have disappeared in twisters?

Recently I bought 2 Oriental Records CDs (Vol1 & 2 out of 5 Volumes). Each is Rs.350/- The CD titles are "Sad Sentimental Songs" & "Evening Duets" Music:IR. The collection was excellent. But the recording quality was really bad. Also I couldn't get the other three albums. So I decided to go to "ECHO" Office itself. (I am in Madras) At the entrance itself, I met Rangasamy Parthasarathy (He was just entering the office). He enquired my requirement (as I was standing at the empty reception alone) and put me to an assistant. When I told about the three missing albums, he showed the complete CD catalog of Orinetal Records. Surprisingly the catalog didn't have any reference to these five Volumes.
B'cause what I bought was a pirated one (The ECHO guy confirmed it!!)
Next, I also bought a CD released by Pyramid, which contains -Deiva Vaaku, Meera, Pandian. The Recoding quality is EXTREMELY GOOD!.
So friends, take care when you buy Cds next time!!!

Hari
can you list the double combo you got with you please.
Ram
thanks for the info. Were you informed on how to identify for the duplicates and whether OR is taking any action against it. I plan to visit madras by may. Can you list me the address of OR please.

RaGa,
The only way to identify the pirated CDs of OR is to have the printed catalog with U!! or Check the OR Web Site.
In Madras, it is ECHO Recording Co. It is at conron Smith Road, Gopalapuram. You will be disappointed if you see their CD collection. It is very limited and there is not much assorted collections.
I bought 2 Echo Cassettes - Sad Songs of Mohan and Duets of Mohan. Best collection. But the same cassettes have not been released in CDs.

Thanks M,
I just happened to see the website of OR and its really sad to see a company which possesed a chunk of the audio cassette market to have such a minimal list in its site. I wish they come out with more classics which they possessed. I think the song was "keeravani" which was a part of Raagas of Raja. There was another good song which comes in that film when bhanupriya goes in search of the "killer" and that is a class. Can anyone help with the starting line of it. I'm very badly looking for traces of that audio casette or cd.

RaGa,
Are you refering to the Karthik-Bhanupriya starrer? It was originally made in Telugu. I think the name of the movie is 'AnvEshana'. MAybe you can get that.

I am not just a fan. I am breathing
Maestro. If there could be somthing which could heal your heart, it is
one and only Raja's music. No another
music director can replace him. This
genius is a great gift of this century
for the music lovers.
PLEASE HELP ME...
Where can I get the entire collection
of Maestro' music in CD form with a fine
quality recording.
I have about 1500 songs in tape form.
But I am not satisfied with this
collection since the quality of
recording is not good.

Bala,
i'm not sure where you get them in singapore, but in Malaysia, you can get a part of them in Masjid India, but the quality assurance not given. As far as I've bought on my own, there is a shop in Ritchie street who is the wholesale stockist for the whole of tamilnadu. I just picked up a bundle from him last time. The problem is that you need patience to stand in the midst of a crowd which keeps moving all around the place(the shop people). The best advice is that you have to go there with a list of songs you intend to buy. The other problem is that most of IR's songs are in tape only. Their collection of cd's is good but still somewhat limited on specs. So the best collection on tapes is what you can get from there and I'm sure that you'll be satisfied with the list. If you want their mailing address, I'll post it to you in three weeks as I'll be visitng the shop quite soon. In that case you can mail them or call them and speak to them.

Take a look at the catalogues in:
http://www.handm.com
http://www.indiaplaza.com
http://www.webcom.com/raag/ind-cd.html
All these have scores of IR's CDs. They are based in US and function online. The deliveries are prompt. Raag IMO has the most extensive list of IR's works

Raga and MS, thanks a lot for your suggestions.
I bought so many CDs at Singapore.
Oriental - recording is very bad.
Pyramid is comparitively good especially
the new songs.
But I have not found Maestro's CDs
with quality recording except two or three.
Could you please list out those CD's with
fine quality recording?
Thanks in advance.

ONE MORE REQUEST..
So far I was using only a Sony Hi-Fi.
I am planning to buy a home theatre system to have more listening pleasure.
Can anyone advice me as to
* How to select a good music system.
* What are the components needed to have a finest music system.
* Best DVD player which can play CD as well.
* Best Tape player
* Best AV receiver/ amplifier with specifications.
* Best speaker systems with specifications.
Can anybody explain what is the difference between AV Receiver and AV amplifier? Is it necessary to buy both?
Thanks in advance.

Try the latest Bose speakers (between $1,500 and $2,500) and Sony deck ($149), CD ($199) and Amps ($359.99). Excellent combo. Worth the investment. Mine is almost 5 years (4.9) old and still have the surround sound power. IR's recent songs blow you away when you listen on this. Don't have to think twice. If you are looking for industrial output then you should go for the bigger speakers, more suitable for underground rave and headaches!!!!

Shankar's got it straight out. The latest Bose collection is available for $1999. This is the player. But you can go in for a Bose CD-radio for a much lesser price. His speaker ranges are exquisite but explosive in pricing.
www.bose.com
As far as the the deck and amps are concerned try the new range of nakamichi hi-fi systems. Believe me, they are really good.
www.nakamichi.com
I'll send you more shortly. But be sure on the budget before you put your hands into all these, 'cos they're a never ending story as far as add-on's are considered. I would personally suggest you not to go in for Bose right away. The primary reason is that for half that pricing you can go in for a wider collection that is more than sufficient.
