thillana,ottagathai,gopala,muqabla,veerapandi,ramta jogi-are these love songs?
the songs like athadi, vaa vaa anbe, kalyanachelai unadhagum naalai, vennila odudhu, o maana maane, unnai kaanum neram, paada vandhadho-were fast, melodious-you know-real love songs.there are countless other egs from MSV,MSV-TR,KVM,even SAR like-sangeetha vaanil, thoda thodavenave.
give me better egs please...
i am not convinced about the above songs-and there was nothing romantic in the songs and the way they have been picturised.
maaya macheendra-a fantasy no
muqabla-cowboy western
telephone mani is acceptable
gopala-dappanguthu
july madham-is that fast?
veerapandi kottaiyile-is that a romantic duet?
thenmerku-are the beats original-the source from some St alban or something has been discussed so many times.

and Hojaye is definitely not a romantic love duet-for god's sake-right from the way it has a 100 chorus artistes screaming h0J...aY...e at the top of their voices their heads off to the way it has been picturised!
swaasame is not fast.
give me five songs in the league of Paal vannam paruvam or adi athadi for their pace and romanticism

no injirungo is not a fast paced song. i mean the singers did not have to sing in a a faster pace. may be the music could be termed as faster.
maya macheendra - indian
uppu karuvadu (!) - mudhalvan
are not again fast paced song by the definition, i assumed above.
however thenmaerkku paruvakkatru is a fast paced song but it too slight slows down at thenjandhu pakka kaLLi chattendru mottu vida stanza but again gains fast at other stanzas.
all are imho.

"thenmerku-are the beats original-the source from some St alban "
does that mean jus bcos IR used the traditional rhythms of kerala drums in the song "Kaatukuyilu" in Thalapathi..the song is not original ? I just don't understand this...i think the way things are going, u will brand using a guitar and a drum as not being original at all...

cosmician..you probably know in the world of POP music using a rhythm loop used in another song is a no no. Because in the POP world the rhythm loop is supposed to be new and unique. This is one of the main creative piece of the song. ARR knows this and he works by this formula. But he is not very particular in the rhythm loop being original, apart from using off-the shelf loops (which are legal though). For eg. if ARR were a POP band the record producer will not allow such a song. Maybe you can flick a rhythm loop from a old rock song or other genre but not from another contemporaneous POP band.

"Sonia sonia" from Ratchagan.
Cosmician and travis have already given the examples that I wanted to give.
There is one song in Pavithra. It is a solo song but a fast based love song.
It is
"Muththam ittadha muththam ittadha"
"Mudhal murai kaatru muththam ittadha"

sonia sonia is a dance song-you cannot put it in the same league as others-just answer this question honestly-do u think it can be played as a background song without the actors dancing to it?
one of my personal fast love duet is adi vaanmadhi from siva.listen to it.

yaaro:
You have already madeup your mind. There is no point in trying to convince you. You don't accept what ever we say. You don't consider any a fast number. Please, tell us the speed with which you want a song to be sung. Please specify the speed in kmph. Or else it will be very difficult for us to find.
Okay. I don't think that there is anything that you actually want.
just answer this question honestly-do u think it can be played as a background song without the actors dancing to it?
Yes, in that song there is a music which comes through out the song. It is a very nice one and you can use it in some ppt presentations, if the ppt does not deal with any serious subject. It all depends on how differently U think.
Okay, not that you have to use it. It's just my opinion.

yaaro,
Is this kind of a test of mind-reading?
Anyway what is the conlusion you will draw if there are five songs?Conversely, conclusion if there are not 5?
- From: cosmician (@ 194.170.168.244)
on: Fri Apr 27 16:15:55 EDT 2001
Anyway does it matter..if there are 5 or not...maybe directors give ARR a situation where they want a dance-duet or an extremely passionate slow song....this is the dance generation remember...this was also mentioned in the editorial of Revolution - a music mag...this is the trend globally, dance is in. I see 1-yr olds and 2 yr olds..they want the TV sets/audio system on and they want to tap their feet and move...just look around u...

yaaro..u've spoilt my sleep..i'm getting up at 1:15 am to key this in while listening to a an album titled "Great Team - ARR & VM" - this set me thinking to all the fast-paced love songs of ARR and these are the few I gathered from memory :
- Hai re Hai re Hai Rabba - Jeans
- Kaatre - Rhythm (maybe not too fast but a cool beat will have u moving ur feet like O maane maane)
- Kulichha Kutraalam - Duet
- Anjathe Jeeva - Jodi
- Sundari..Sundari sella Sundari -Mr. Romeo
- Kannera Kadallika? - Mr. Romeo
- Que Sera - Pukar and the Tamil original
- Sutti Sutti.. - Padaiyappa
- Thillana Thillana - Muthu
- Kuluvazhile - Muthu
- Kadahal Sadgudu - Alaipayuthe
- Tu Hi Tu - Kabhi Na Kabhi (one of my all time favs - OMATF)
- O Bhavren - Daud (OMATF)
- Dil Se Re (OMATF)
- Minsara Kanna - Padaiyappa
I might hav added some non-duets..forgive my sleepy headedness :-)..now i can sleep in peace !
- From: bm (@ 64.12.105.21)
on: Fri Apr 27 18:44:47 EDT 2001
cosmician..u have a point there - what if there are 5 and there are not ?..incidentally most of ARR's fast paced songs have been dancy numbers. i would add
en veettu thotathil poovellam kettupaar( gentleman )
jiya jale ( dilse )
tanha tanha ( rangeela - though not a duet, going by the lyrics it is not out of the love song category )
- but "yaaro" would surely disqualify many of the numbers mentione d in this forum based on his theory that there should be no extras around the main pair ( ha, what a thing to ask for from the tamil film world )
- From: cosmician (@ 194.170.1.132)
on: Sat Apr 28 04:10:26 EDT 2001
bm..i think its hard to categorize ARR's songs yet bcos of the blurring of genres...as he does a few projects only....he has to work hard to make each song outstanding...
- From: Common Friend (@ 203.197.141.183)
on: Sat Apr 28 10:59:39 EDT 2001
- Tu Hi Tu - Kabhi Na Kabhi (one of my all time favs - OMATF)
Thank God. There are people, who have taste just like mine.
cosmician:
You might have also listen to the hariharan's number ("Tumho meri nighavonpe chaaye") in that film. It is also OMATF.
Its sad that the film did not become a hit and eventually the music went unnoticed, even though it toped in Superhit muquabla at no.3 position for some 3 - 4 weeks. That's all. The film vanished. I don't know what did Priyadharshan do with the film.
