Kamalahaasan - A very talented singer

Kamalahaasan IMO is a very good light music singer who has not fully exploited his talents because of his diverse interests and efforts. If playback singing is defined as 'singing with expression' then, Kamal justifies it by adding histrionics to his singing. Ofcourse, SPB is the king of this art. Kamal's laugh in the phrase 'punnagaiya Endhi' in the song 'kaasumEley' from KK is an example.

Can somebody attempt an exhaustive list of Kamal's songs.

  How about the famous "Inji iduppazhagi" song that Kamal sang with SJ in the film "Thevar Magan"? Also, in "Apoorva Sagodharargal", there are two versions of the song "Raja Kaiya Vacha" (one by SPB and the other by Kamal himself). I think, only the SPB version was there in the film, right?

  I can't agree with you more. I wish Kamal continues to sing more songs, not only in his films, but also in other films, like the 'Muthae Muthamma' song he sang for Ajith in the film 'Ullasam'. He has a good voice modulation and I feel that if he continues as a playback singer, then he will be a force to reckon with among other playback singers, now that SPB and KJY are also not singing much.

  Gnyaru oli maraivil is kamal's first song.
  Neels, oru chinna discussion about Paneer pushpangalae.
  IMHO, in that song between two lines when kamal pauses and regains the voice to sing the next line
  moochu vidugira andha osai konjam different-a irukumnu enaku thonuthu - which apparently cannot be found in many seasoned singers. I agree at that time kamal was not as seasoned singer as he is today, but still.....

  as compared to other actors/celebrities like rajni, vijay, vadivelu, napoleon, karthik who have tried their hand in singing and mostly come up croppers, kamal has been very successful.
  
  i have been amazed by his ability to bring in the required emotions when singing,(something which he picked up from SPB?) and also do a lot of 'gamakaas ' when singing songs like 'sundari neeyum'. I believe he is an underrated singer.
  
  maarugo maarugo and kasu mela are 2 other examples of his ability to incorporate the mood of the situation into the songs.
  
  and above all, i think IR has exploited his voice very well with some brilliant songs.

  Kamal is certainly better than that "Aati kya khandala" guy(what's his name..some "Khan't sing"?). But then this is hardly a compliment :).
