may the great one's soul rest in peace...

It's a painful news to me. Padikatha methai/barathiyar kavithai both are suitable for him- "EngirunthO vanthan idaichathi nAn enRAn. ingivanai yAn peRavE enna thavam seythu vittoM". Uyarntha manithan - is one of the bests of him. He was capable of doing any kind or role any kind of acting. But we people always fail to recognize/utilize it. At least Cho was lucky enough to see the another side of this genius which we never had seen. People say that genius would be born once in few centuries. Let the next generation have everything!.

Late Sivaji was an artist with great dedication, love and respect for his profession. He not only made acting look so simple, he also made it very simple for others.
Since he has not got even single national award for acting till date, henceforth I wish the national award itself to be renamed as Sivaji Ganesan award. This will be the best way to honour India's best actor ever!..
May his soul rest in peace.

I guess none of our cliches could even begin to descibe the great man!! his death marks the passing of an entire era in thamizh cinema.. an irreplaceable loss alrite..
he brought to life all those varied characters he played with seemingly unbelievable ease.. bharathiyar, karnan, kattabomman being just the common examples.. to this day i dunno what VOC even looked like but i sure as hell know he was just like shivaji in "kappalOttiya thamizhan"..
the screen presence is indeed arresting.. no one can ever match the kind of dignity and poise with which he ruled the silver screen.. (not to mention this uncanny cat-like grace with which he moved.. totally belying his bulk..!!)
i guess we got to see a lot of that in his later movies esply.. (thatz mebbe coz my memory fails me.. :)) anyway, i remember this scene in thevar magan..?! i guess it comes somewhere in the middle of the song "pOtri paadadi".. where he just walks down this pandhi and every1 jumps up half way thro their meal to pay their respect to him .. (beautifully executed scene actually) seriously when i saw that scene i really felt like i shud get up next too.. i mean.. forget the character he was playing.. he was dignity personified..!! that is the kinda awe he inspired in his audience i guess..
and apparently he commands just as much respect in real life too.. this is indeed a very emotional moment for the thamizh film industry i guess.. i mean their grand old man is no more.. but the legacy hez left behind is simply immense.. therez so much for them to learn from it alrite.. but he will still be sourly missed..
heartfelt thanks to him for having touched so many lives during his illustrious life..
and good bye.. :(

A scene from "Deiva Magan" comes to my mind when I read the interview. The dad Shivaji and his deserted son are in a room and the youngest Shivaji come into the room to ask money. The way he does it, is a marvel to be enjoyed only by watching it. An amazing performance. Also I heard he lost the best actor in the regional Oscar categories for that movie in a narrow margin.

Please do not consider OSCAR as the best award for "tamil films". If so then sivaji would have got atleast a dozen of them.

I have not seen a single Bollywood personality(except Lata) to have offered any kind of a statement.
Sivaji was celarly a towering personality and its a pity even in his death the Northies failed to make up.
