IR again spoils his "kasi" songs by not giving it SPB, why???

I have heard kassi songs, all are rendered by the same old ***Nasal*** hariharan, he sings all the songs like half-dead person, no punch, ne expression, no life, no modulation in his voice, but he does have superb ***NASAL*** voice!

If this film was to be super hit, IR should have used SPB's Royal Highness voice, like, he used SPB in "Chinathambi","Kadhal Oviyam","Salnghai Oli", etc.

But why does IR spoils all his master pieces by giving it the nasal singer, hariharan, IR spoilt many of great tunes during the 90's by giving the songs to the "cheap Imitator of SPB", Mano, Why is IR not making use of the MAJESTIC VOICE OF DR.SPB???

  musik.. just because they were great in the past doesnt mean they have to be persisted with even when they r 80 yrs old.
  
  i dont care if i sound irreverent.. but they have had their time and now its time to give chances to younger people..only because their voice sounds very old... i for one have begun to hate SJ off late with her shaky voice .. she is spoiling too many songs. same goes for lata too.

  forget hariharan spoiling kasi songs, raaja has achieved that singlehandedly.
  
  man, is this the same guy who produced nenjathai killadhe, payanagal mudivadhillai, raaja paarvai et al?
  
  i mean, what happened? it is as if he has completely lost his legendary mammoth talent of those days what has happened to the ilayaraaja whose songs made me worship him and held me spellbound and enchanted for hours? does not anyone else feel this way? has his divine flow of music stopped forever? why is he dishing out such insipid fare after haveng produced such mindblowing gems? too many, questions, no answers...

  Guys.. I think 'Kaasi' would be like another 'Sethu'. I don't remember anybody appreciating the music, not until after they had seen the movie and understood the missing critical dimension of what the music really conveys.

  review of the album "azhagi", music by "rAgadhevaN" ilayarAjA.
  
  1. oLiyile therivadhu - it's the only song which gives the tfm fans a relief for buying the movie's audio cassette. All the while a neat song. karthik has sung really well. he has got a really bright future ahead. rAja should stop trying on catchy tunes(like the young md's), which he was doing for quite some time now, and instead he should kindly consider working on tunes like this, which is his forte. i really don't know why he has been trying for something which is not coming his way. If he had used a good female singer it would have made the song a great one. bavadhArini has tried her best to pull the neat song down. good contribution from the national award winner :-- ))))(nakkal) (8/10)
  
  2. oru sundari vandhAlAm - This song is a kadhambam of rAjA's previous albums. Starts like oru gundumani kulungudhai(avathAram) and later picks up oru maina kunju maadhulam pinjhu(oru Orla oru rAjakumari)song. No effort from rAja's side for this song, simply recycled!!! couldn't hear for the second time. (0/10)
  
  3. pAtusolli pAdasolli by sAdhanA Sargam - This song is starting deliberately like kaadhal oviyum(alaigal Oyvadhillai). As usual sAdhanA sargam kills tamil(Thamizh kolai). this song don't have a proper rhythm. beats just don't fall in the right place. gives a jarring efect to listeners's ears.in oLi Oviyar's(tamil perfectionist) movie this song should definitely have been avoided(2/10)
  
  4. chittu chittu kuruvikku - This song's beat will make u remember the "vEtukku vEtukku vAsapadi venum"(kizhakku vAsal)song. Again bavadhArini irritates the music lovers with her pungent nasal voice. I dunno why rAja is giving bavadhArini a chance to sing? After all we are the poor ones buying the cassettes and hearing the songs. I couldn't stand her voice, so naturally the song is getting a bad review from me. (3/10)
  
  5. un kuththamA by rAja - The song opens like "unna nenachen paatu padichen" (abOrva sagodhararghal). rAja gives nothing new in this song. if u have heared rAja's sad songs for the past 10 years, then definitely u wouldn't want to hear this song. nothing new at all...another sad song to rAja's collection, thaz it. since i like rAja's voice, this song just passes the test. (5/10)
  
  overall the album gets 18/50 which is 36/100. so the album fails to impress. i wouldn't recommend others to buy this album and make the mistake that i have made. maybe if u go for a tea shop and get to listen the songs, it'll be ok. sorry rAja, try best next time to impress.

  As a hardcore IR fan, I should say that I am very saddened after listening to Azhagi and Kasi. Bought them in Salem when on a short trip to Yercaud. My family, knowing that I was a HCIRF, kept their mouth shut for sometime, and after sometime they started complaining that the music was bad and stale.. yes, "Stale" will be the right word. Pathetic albums, and I was funing inside as they started to make fun of the music.
  
  IR needs to change his style, the same nattuppura beats..even if he starts different, ends up with the same tabla beats. Nothing interesting about any of the songs. IR needs to change. Two wonderful movies with great scope, IR flopped in both of them.
  
  And yeah, as a sidetrack, I should also add that "Dheena" by Yuvan is one of the BEST albums in recent times... superb orchestration...awesome songs!! I keep playing it all the time in my car...

  since many people keep saying that dheena is a great album, i listened to it online at raaga.com. except for vaththikkuchchi paththikkichchudA (adAdA :-) ) and chollAmal thoTTuch chellum thendRal, the remaining three songs are amazingly forgettable - they show no hint of creativity or ideas about music. raaga.com has given five stars to en nenjil, nI illai enRAl and chollAmal thoTTuchellum thenRal and four start to kAdhal website and three stars to vaththikkuchchi paththikkichchudA. please tell me that it does reflect the audience taste in tn.

  even "vathikuchi pathikaathuda" is nothing special but for SPB's singing..typical persian-type music that we have seen in many movies before starting from "azhagaana ponnu thaan athuketha kannuthaan" by banumathi way back :-)
  
  and even SPB doesnt sound all that good when he sings the higher notes in "theekuchiyaai..."

  what you listen on the internet is very different from what you listen on a cassette or a CD. Listen to Dheena on a Cassette or CD and then tell me!!

  hey while there are bunch of new talented singers,
  like Madhu Balakrishnan,Harish raghavendar n unnikrishnan,who have done a great job under IR.
  Ir shudn't have spoiled by giving kasi to a man who spoiled Kathal kavithai songs and Nailavu paaatu.
  punniyam thedi n rokkam irukkura are deliteful tunes but the rendition is just ridiculous n lacks soul

  After seeing "Vasanthiyum Lakshmiyum pinne nyanum", Malayalam, Original version of Kasi.
  
  I have no doubt the songs are going to be a hit after Junta sees the movie.
  
  I feel Azhagi songs are outright impressive compared to Kasi songs.
  
  IMHO, HH does seem to have killed some of the songs. But for blind man character, his nasal rendition would be more appropriate I guess.. indha train'la paaduvaangelapa... - "pardesi..pardesi.. jaana nahin.. mujhe chodke....." andha maari.

  I agree with you, IR spoiled his kadhal kavithai songs by giving them to the nasal HH, rather than SPB, HH sings like a semi-dead person (kutruyir), no variation, no modulation, plus HH has a very irritating Nasal voice, followed by very bad pronounciation, even being a tamilian. HH is not good for film music, perhaps he is better off in Ghazzals, but SPB is an all rounder with Unlimited skills & with a great voice!!!.

  Coming to"vathikuchi pathikaathuda", nothing special about the song, apart from SPB, the music was really good, a bit like the spanish salsa dancing.
  
  SPB sounding not so good at high pitch, r u kidding, SPB, M.rafi & Lata are the only singers till date who can do justice at the highest pitch!
  
  Oh BTW, "theekuchiyaai..." bit sounds like that, only because it is supposed to sound like some one is screaming, if you want to listen to SPB's superiority of Higer notes listen to "Unnai partha pinbu naan", from kadhal mannan, "naanum unthan uravai naadi vanth paravai", from mythili ennai kadhali, "satham illatha thanimai keiteen", from amarkalam!!!

  SPB sings most of the songs for the telugu version of Alavandhan (abhey), why not in tamil???
