Common Friend, I am not sure whether you are a common friend to all fans or just to ARR friends.

Scathing attacks are passed from both sides not just HCIR... as u should've noticed from being a DFer all this time...!!
Shall I assume that u would a commoner then?

hey NCR,
No one can replace anyone for that matter. Why IR? No one can replace even Deva. I don't think such a simple stmnt. shud be used to say something strong about IR ( which I assume was what you were trying to do). If you notice, ARR was complimenting a senior MD by recognizing that MD's talent. That's it. I don't think such a stmnt. should be used to say something like 'IR is ultimate' etc.

NCR,
"But one thing atleast now should be clear for those werent is that No One can replace IR."
I would think that this is not a logical conclusion. If you have seen in one of the threads on SPB,there is a mention of SPB saying "Nobody can sing like Mohd. Rafi".Does that mean everyone should conclude SPB is inferior to Mohd. Rafi?At least I don't believe so.
If ARR says something good about himself, people here are ready to pounce on him.But if he himself says "No no, please Ilaiyaraja sir can never be replaced" it becomes a gospel. Is contradiction the way of life?

recently I saw "thambikku entha ooru". there is a song called "yen vazhvile..." the same song is repeated verbatim in sadma " yeh zindagi..." (or vice versa).
Both songs (actually 1 song in 2 lang) have some interludes similar to "poongaatru pudhidanathu..."
so thats the answer to re-use and re-cyle.
1) no one is exempt from it
2) producers demand it
3) a song in a particular lang. has less reach to public. re-using it in many lang just increases the # of people who listen to it.

You must be living in the Dark Ages man!! That song has been talked about ad nauseum. And if all you can remember from the movie is 'yen vazhvile' and not 'kadhalin deepam ondru', you are beyond redemption. Pity you!

Did anyone mention about re-cycling in this topic?? Then why the hell is recylcing brought into picture?

Normal Man - enna romba nalla tfmpageku varadhu illaiaaa.... i thought this is the trend now - suddenly jump in and say "look at this - can't someone talk about this.... why does everyone blame only ARR, when IR has done it.... these HCIRF's are like that only.... blah blah blah...." :-)

NormalMan,
//"Next: Quiz ARR about why he’s been doling out the dubbing rights of his songs? Why recycle his Tamil tunes for Love You Hamesha and a couple of songs in Pukaar and Nayak too? Unruffled, he answers: “Actually Yaaron sun lo zara from Rangeela was also taken from one of my Telugu tunes. But no one
noticed then.”
He elaborates, “It’s now that songs from the south are being heard all over that this dubbing thing has been raised. In any case, just two per cent of my Tamil output has been dubbed into Hindi and that too, purely at the insistence of the producers. I certainly don’t encourage this, neither will I ever allow this to become a trend"//
whatever,

i remember it allright! but is'nt that an irrelevant question! why should that come into the picture. do uremember ARR new song in star when u talked abt recycling!

I am not sure I believe what ARR says in this interview. DFers (like Geetha) who know ARR personally have posted her about his _true_ feelings vis-a-vis Raja. Srikanth (Comment/Fan) in one of his old posts spoke about how little respect ARR and his clique have for Raja.
Now that said, I dont see why it should matter. If he dislikes Raja, then fine. Liking Illayaraja should not be a criterion to judge ARR. If he needs to respect a senior, then KR is equally guilty of not respecting ARR.
I also admire the way these two have conducted themselves in public - never spoke ill of each other. However, it is not difficult to see that there is some animosity between the two.
Now that said, it is also pretty obvious that Rahmans tendency to stay aloof is not winning him too many friends. He has a tendency to be very curt and business-like and in India, these are equated to arrogance. Many of my friends in films have told me that producers dislike ARR's "high-handedness", but since he is the unquestionable #1, they flock to him. Very similar to Raja until the 90's.

>>just two per cent of my Tamil output has been dubbed into Hindi
Interesting. I thought it should be more than 10%(20% or even more)
As for as I know following are some of songs in these movies dubbed in Hindi (or dubbed from Hindi to Tamil)
.Roja
.Kaadhalan
.Gentleman
.Mr Romeo
.Mudhalvan
.Jodi (from Hindi)
.Kaadhal desam
.Star (from Hindi)
.Uyirae
etc.,

STS - i think u got it wrongly..... Roja, Kaadhalan, Mudhalvan - i don't think u can include movies like these - cause the movies by themself were dubbed..... not like Jodi, Star - these were recycling...... so in that case it would be 2% only.....

yup! it wud be self-contradictory if all the songs given to a movie for a particluar lang was changed for a diff lang.
it means th MD is now interpreting the same situation differently for each song!. a good song in 1 version means an injustice to the other version!
and then its waste of time and more expensive! No producer would want it. ( u need to reshoot the song and lip movements etc)

Bharath :
Where was the question in my post? (This one is a question, by the way). I have not spoken about ARR recycling in Star because I have not heard the songs from Star. Does it sound logical? (Another question here). Perhaps not to you, who will go shooting off your mouth about something which you neither listen to or comprehend.
Make it a point to read a post first and respond to what is said there. Not just preconceive what you want to say and say it whether it is relevant or otherwise.

Bharath,
The extract from where ever you took it, is not in anyway concerned with this thread. Just the article mentioned about this, it seeks no entry into this discussion. We are discussing Comments of ARR on IR in some interview and not recycling ...... get it straight ......purinchidaa?? Before opening your loud mouth just try to see what the topic is, what people are discussing about, instead to going and writing something totally out-of the context in every thread. Stop this irritating way of trying to pull in a IR-ARR comparison in every possible thread. It really turns me OFF to respond to people like you. This will be my last.

Normal man,
what the hell? what nonsense are you talking about? Who are you decide what I should talk? Recycling was mentioned in a post be it article or something else and I responded to it! If u r going to say u have never digressed b4 then you r a liar.
I know what people are talking abt in this thread and I dont need yor condescending comments to let me know that.
//". Stop this irritating way of trying to pull in a IR-ARR comparison in every possible thread. "//
yup! are u saying no one else is guilty of this! u expect every one to agree whatever nonsense u spit out and if not u throw in a tantrum!
//". It really turns me OFF to respond to people like you. This will be my last."//
good! hope u shut up forever!
whatever,
I said "yen vazhvile" was a recycle. i did not say anything about "kathalin deepam". so why bring it in? is that logical? You first read my post properly.
You guys stop ARR bashing to start with and then u come and advise me until then...

Bharath :
Where have I bashed ARR? I address my posts to you, and only you, directly and expect that you will show me the same courtesy. Do not group me with other guys and make sweeping generalisations. Saying that IR is good does not necessarily imply that ARR is bad. If you make that inference it merely exposes an insecure and warped mind. But then, what can one expect from a person who is only intent on shoving his views down others' throats.
