I find the article in a very bad taste.
No comments!! People like MGR,Rajini did lot of good for tamil people, people like IR has scored for many super hit kannada movies and he also talks and talked many things in Kanada. The artilce points are not very strong, who is responsible for this TF directors? fans ?

Fliflo-
Iam glad you posted this question. I wish you respect the senthilarb who wrote this article.
All this happens only after 76 in TF industry. Be it music, acting or direction! This can happen only in TN and only in Tamil films and not in any other state.
When the same thing was discussed with regards to Tamil film music, you are biassed and lost your heads out in anger.
Now you have UV who has his nerves full of involvement with arts alone and not nativity, as you appreciated as a fan of IR(Lucky he never asked you, 'It is none of your business!).
As fans "it is our business to improve appreciation of native talents" as we already have enough. We've had enough appreciating other state talents. They literally own half of TN.

Ok Mr Wise Guy NChari
Do suggest the way of improving native talents
Who is stopped them or stopping them please let me know be it IR,ARR other MDS or Dirs they all look for the right people for a song, expression or charachter and they dont first look aha he is our local guy lets put him. Btw the other people quickly adapt to our language and they also start talking or manage to talk in tamil these may be good business tactics what stopping our guys from doing that. With respect Kanada you can say the film industry is little bit arrogant but if you take Malayalam for example all tamil movies run thier without being dubbed and they do very well also esp Kamal,Rajini films,
If you take Telugu most of the movies are tamil ones either dubbed or remake they have become super hits so many dirs also go there and take film.
Do Kindly enlighten us the ways of improving..native talents

Mr Chari:
I wanted to correct your statements.
"Iam glad you posted this question."
See up again there is no question in my posting. I posted it because it is a good subject for discussion.
When the same thing was discussed with regards to Tamil film music, you are biassed and lost your heads out in anger.
Now you have UV who has his nerves full of involvement with arts alone and not nativity, as you appreciated as a fan of IR(Lucky he never asked you, 'It is none of your business!).
Well...Our aim is to discusss the subject and not about the people who are posting it. For that you can't keep calm, if somebody comes with n different names and type some nonsense!
Don't tell that. It is you who came with different names and messing up with everybody. Pamaran can tell you better.
"I wish you respect the senthilarb who wrote this article."
Why do you think so?
"All this happens only after 76 in TF industry."
What is so special about 76. People like Gantasala, AMRaja, Anjalidevi, Rangarao, Padmini, Rakhini, Sarojadevi, P. Suseela, P. B. Srinivas...et etc...were other language people.
'76..IS it something to do with IR's entry??
This can happen only in TN and only in Tamil films and not in any other state.
Kannada film star Ravichandran, Telegu film pugazh actress..ramyakrishnan...vijayashanti(?)..etc..from TN. But I agree that in these states it is predominantly native people.
We've had enough appreciating other state talents. They literally own half of TN.
What about Tamilians living in Bombay..Bangalore.Frankfurt..Toronto (600,000)...Bay area...etc..etc..This in certainly not a good way to see it.

i totally second the words from UV I find the article in a very bad taste
First of all we should see cinema field as profession for one's talent (talent, i mean here is not just acting talent or something like that; talent here means ability to be victorious in the field; it also includes money, name and fame. i cud not find a suitable word for it that is why i used this word).
The author is very concerned about 'Green' tamizhs not getting chances in other language movies. tell me one thing, many of our indians want to go to US for making money or for giving their talent. why didn't US guys think in a similar fashion that See indians are coming and working in professional fields like I-T but we are not allowed to go and work in India that is very bad.? Why don't we see such 'eye opening' articles in US?
The main reason could be that US is abundant in such kind of resources(i.e attracting people for working and living) that is why people like to go there. Other countries like Bangladesh et al are not boosting so much resources as US boosts.
In the same fashion TF is one of a coveted arena in indian film industry that is why people from all over the country are attracted to TF. Do we know one thing? TeleguFilm (TeF) attracts more other language people(including tamizhs) than TF, albeit TeF itself has lots of successful artistes. That is because TeF is infact more coveted than TF with respect to money and other fames. Tell me one more thing if our 'Green' Tamizhans are given a chance to act in Kannada or Assamese or Oriyan movie in the same time when they are given a chance in Tamizh/Telegu/Hindi will they be welcoming such Kannada/Assamese chance and go and join there? I feel they definitely won't? Why? Its like choosing between US or Bangladesh.
But we should think about one more field - Hindi. its true that in spite of having greater and more talented people from south are waiting for chances, Hindi filmdom doesn't give that much break to southies. I feel the nexus with mafia is one of the important reasons for that, apart from such similar chauvinism. This 'mafia-nexus' is also one of the main reasons why people from Hindi film are coming more to south (TF/TeF) in spite of having more chance to gain name, fame and money in hindi than any filmdom in India. I feel this 'mafia nexus' is also one of the main reason for downfall in movie standards in hindi (including music and other technical aspects).
now coming to the point why tamizhs are not getting so much chances in tamizh films themselves. The reasons creators(director, producer, financiers, distributors and to an extent heroes) point out is, in the area of glamour our girls are not liked that much as girls from other states it is also partially true. we always have an attraction for outside people (ikkaraikku akkarai pachhai). Two more points are:
(i) if a native actress is more glamourous, then in general life she faces more problem (sudu sorkkaL). on the other hand the non-native actresses don't face such problems whenever their market goes down they are on their wheels back to their place.
(ii) heroes and directors want themselves to project in all india level or atleast all-south level. to do so they want to use other language artistes.
Nowadays tamizh films dont rely on strong story and native(gramiya story) films. it is more glamourous and more technology stuff. in such case they want to show 'Grandness' in their movie. It so happened that One cannot show Grandness with all native performers. Are we inclined to view ARR songs which is danced by people like Radhika, satyaraaj (or) Are we inclined to view them by mumtaz et al.
Inspite of all these we have more tamizhs in technical side of TF. Why the author has forgotten this? Music, Camera, editing, art and other post production areas have more tamizhs; not only in TF, TeF but also in Hindi side.
Finally, do you think directors like bharatiraaja will opt for SENs and RAIs for a film like '16-vayathinilae?' also do you think they will direct '16-vayathinilae' or do you think our great 'Green' Tamizhans are ready to see another '16-vayathinilae', 'uthiri pookkaL' etc?
'Thoda (thigh) theriyanum saar appathaan kikku' this is not my words, this was words of 'Green' tamizhans. i saw this in a 'on-the-spot' interview taken in front of a cinema hall telecasted by DoorDarshan long back (4-5 years back).
Lets first wash our faces...

we won't see our people's success in other filmdom we won't see the name, fame of IR, ARR in indian arena. we won't see the praises of naushad and other greats on our great MSV. we won't see our sridevi, our hemamalini, our vyjayanthimala becoming hindi dream girls. we won't see kamalhassan has a following in hindi or 'rigid' malayaaLam filmdom. we won't see the reverence malayalee actors give to our shivaji ganesan, the praises they give on our shivakumar.
we won't see our raghavendra lawrence becoming a successful choreographer in telegu movies.
we won't see the success of vijayakanth movies in telegu.
we won't see the comedy of vadivelu in kaadhalan that became very famous among telegus and even among those 'arrogant' hindiwalas.
we won't notice that in bangalore tamizh films are seen more than kannada films even by kannadigas. this is even after kannada chavunists targetting tamizhs and tamizh movies.
we always want to do 'thiraikadal odiyum dhiraviyam thaedal' but we will crib if others do.
i quote kamalahaasan from one of his interviews in kumudam/aananda vikatan:
Inteviewer : why tamizhans are beaten in bangalore (or some questions like that).
'Green Tamizhan' Kamal : during the hindi agitation we did lots of mischievious things in sowcarpet area then how can we say this to others. basically we all(indians) should have tolerence and acceptance or else it will be very difficult
please note that the words are not exactly translated but i think i have given the gist of what he said. please refer to that interview if you have doubts.
such kind stinks really :-(

The fact is ulagathil Thamizhanai pola oru EEEE vayan (Illichavayan) illai. The feeling of nativity and importance to his own language keeps diminishing. We have had this type of discussion at various places under different topics. Some how I have always felt that Tamizhians are somewhat unfortunate people in this sense. We always look for other's appreciations. We feel great if we establish something in others land.We feel proud of talking others language. (I have entered so many tamil chat rooms and hardly I have seen any tamil discussion going on there) People type in French. People type in German..They feel proud in doing so. Tell me how many of you have the habit of speaking in English when you meet a fellow tamilian. I would say almost all. I have never seen this habit with any other language guy. You can't stay in a set of North indian gang as they don't even bother to mind your presence. Sometimes it make me to think we guys don't have much self-respect. Despite all these facts, we also hold the most 'respectable' title called 'Tamil Fanatic" or "LTTE' or Something similar. By speaking english or other language people feel that they escape from this title. Some may call this as modern revolution. Surprisingly, this revolution happens only with Tamilians and not others. In karnataka, every year for the entire month of November they celebrate a function called "Rajoystava" means "Karnataka Liberation Day". The main activity during these days is to attack tamilians and tamilian's properties. (I was a victim once). Many tamilians living in Bangalore just escape to their relatives houses for those days. Nobody has ever called them to be fanatic. About 60-70% of tea stalls and cafe's are maintained by malayalis in coimbatore. This was just 10% in 70s and it keeps going up and up with more and more malayali's flooding in because of their relatives. They don't even employ Tamil workers in their shop. Nobody has ever called them fanatics. In UP..Mulayam Singh Yadav brought a rule to remove english and other languages in the official documents. That certainly would have made a serious impacts on other language people, who were living there. Nobody certifed Mulayam as a Hindi fanatic. Some tamils who made some remarkable impacts do not wan't to identify themselves as Tamils. I am not counting all. Few tamil stars whom I mentioned in my earlier post contribute to only less than 5%. Top positions and majority jobs in other states are certainly occupied by only native people. In TN, I would say it is the other way round. Remember how Rajinikant acted when Rajkumar was under abduction. He did not show the same kind of interest when thousands of PEPSI workers strived hungry for weeks. Name few tamil actors who established themselves and remain in super star mega star status in other regions. Couple of days before I read how shankar is struggling to release his movie in Bollywood. If I find again I will post it here. All clearly proves one and only point that There is no Illichavayan like a Tamilian in the world. Probably that is his great "Virundhombal" character. ""Thanakku unavu illayaninium..mattravanai vaazha vaikkum Panbu"".
U live in great heights..Come down and see your own children are suffering.
This is not a good way to see at it. But this is what exists.
In my opinion, the article is not a crap. There is an underlying truth in that.
