It says 21st March on www.rahmanonline.com and spbala.com for Chicago, although, no one in Chicago has heard this news! So not sure if it will happen there.
As for the above article, there is no proposed show in London, as far as I know. So, the article is not totally accurate, I feel.

My first reactions to the photos in dinakaran,
Come on! come on! Have ManiRatnam and Kamal Hasan gone mad or what? They request ARR to do a concert in memory of the Late Mahesh. And.... seem to have filled it with abnoxious glamour with the 'reputed' Bombay girls in their panties.... that too for the song En Uyire En Uyire (my favourite song).
ARR looks so lost in those photos. No wonder. I am sure he must have been squirming. How could Mani Ratnam take this show for granted? I know for a fact that Kamal will care two hoots for the 'Cause'. Mahesh (the gentle soul, Rest in Peace) must be turning in his grave.
If only ARR knew, he would have never agreed for this, I am sure.... anyway, his duty was to deliver the music, the rest can take of themselves.......

Seems that the turnout for his Unity Of Light was a failure. Average turnout was the best one could say.
ARR has lost his status in the last few years in Tamil Film industry because of his mediocre output. Its either he ran out of ideas and can't produce anything good anymore or because he indulged too much in Bombay Dreams in London. He has churned out very ordinary songs for all the movies he committed to including Baba in the last few years.
Industry people know that not much producers have been going for his music for the last few years except his loyalist Shankar and Mani Ratnam and some Hindi producers. His music has become so mundane and stale that people are buying it. Thye are not finding any substance in it. Realizing this after coming back from London and desperate to get back to Tamil Film industry, he wanted to do something very quickly and desperately to regain some status. He has pulled a stunt using the late Mahesh's situation. One wonders from where did his association with Mahesh suddenly surface from? Why the sudden tour and concert in India after all this while? It's obvious he wants to be famous again and therefore found this opportunity. Also, one more thing to take note is that he is making himself very available to everyone nowadays in the hope of going back to his stature of his early days in the industry.
What he is trying to do is not surprising as he pulled a previous stunt with Rajnikanth before. It was reported that after Ilayaraaja turned down Rajni to do Baba(as they are still the best of friends till today), Rajni got a call from ARR from London just to congratulate and wish him on his new film on the pretentous fact that he might be offered the MD. Rajni did offer to ARR but he squandered it.
May be elsewhere in India they may be fooled but I guess people of Tamil Nadu are not that stupid by his gimmicks anymore.
Btw, the above was taken from a closed thread.

Platinov... whom are u kidding?
If u say there was an average turnout for the show u must either have not attended it or must be blind as a bat! At least the bat's got a sense of hearing.
>>He has pulled a stunt using the late Mahesh's situation. >was reported that after Ilayaraaja turned down Rajni to do Baba<<

--He has pulled a stunt using the late Mahesh's situation.--
pls get ur facts right.. he was not even going to perform in Chennai. He obliged Mani and Kamal's request and decided to give it a shot. If u've noticed all his interviews about the show he never mentions about "being closely associated w/ Mahesh". He jus says he's doing it for a cause. To find a cure for the disease that claimed Mahesh, AND his father.

ARR has got got loyalty because he is paying in pounds to journalists and singers. Plus, tell me one song of his that is worth recalling today. Honestly, while he did a great job of keeping music alive, don't call his works worthwhile to hold a show at Michael Jackson level. This Rahman does not have a single fast number to boast of.

First hand info from some one who attended the concert
----------------------------------------------
Hi Guys..
Had the most amazing experience at the chennai concert. Dunno how
good the concerts at Kolkata and Hyd were...but if the Chennai
concert was anything to go by, I dare say it must have been great
there too.
Do excuse me if i sound incoherent...but am giving below my views in
a random order :-
Crowd - AMAZING wud be one single word to describe it. Almost 40000
and as Suhasini (the compere) said...it wud hv been doubtful if such
a crowd has ever gathered for a musical nite at chennai. The
clapping, the cheering, the booos etc were all there to make it a
most lively evening.
Selection of Songs - Umm....a honest view would be that the selection
left a lot to be desired. I mean......songs like Rangeela, Lagaan
(except for Radha kaise ne Jale), KK, Bombay, Minsara Kanavu, Jeans,
PP, TLOBS etc were all left out. And surprisingly, very slow songs
were also chosen which slackened the tempo particularly in the second
half of the programme. One could see a lot of ppl going to buy
popcorn, cool drinks etc when such songs were being played. One only
hopes that the Bby concert, more of fast upbeat numbers get sung
Singers - As usual, the singers were at top form. In detail...
SPB - The BEST of the lot. What a voice, what a man and what
humility. Right from the starter of Oruvan Oruvan till Jana Gana Mana
at the end, SPB was at his best. In fact seeing him sing, one feels
even now, he can sing for teenage heroes and yet not be identified as
one who has been singing for 30 years now!!!
Sukwinder - Someone who led SPB very close for the honours. And when
he sung Chaiya Chaiya, one HAD to sing and clap and dance with him.
What a high pitch he has....and the way it comes out in a live
concert is incredible! Great songs.........great voice. Songs he sung
included Ramta Jogi & Chaiya Chaiya
Hariharan - To me, the biggest disappointment of the evening. He
really scr*wed up Pachai Nirame. Even otherwise, his voice didnt seem
to have the usual zing in his voice.
Unnikrishnan - Sung only one song.ie the Ennavale from Kaadhalan. But
must say, he did a wonderful job of it and the way it was sung was
quite different from the original version. Lot of chord changes etc
Shankar Mahadevan - Another singer who had a good evening yesterday.
Sung with his usual gusto....but when SPB was around.......SM can at
best only get the second or third place!!
Karthik - Sung songs like Maaya maaya, Radha Kaise Ne jale. To me,
another disappointment. Definitely he comes across much better on the
CD than on screen.
Blazee - To me, the song of the day (though others may think it was
Chaiya Chaiya or Dil Se Re) was Blazee singing Baba Rap! God...fellow
really raps well and the song was accompanied by a lot of light
effects and crackers...which made a heady combo. Excellent choice for
a live concert. Really looking forward to more of Blazee in the future
ARR - Surprisingly, our Man didnt sing too many songs. Sang Dil Se
Re, Vande Maatram. But otherwise was content in just giving backing
vocals. But he was very very comfortable on the stage. In fact at one
time, he was saying that when they asked Suhasini to compere the
programme, she was like......No I cant coz I have Bharathi Raaja's
shooting...to which ARR replied saying...Nambe Bharathiraaja dhaane.
Oru special song pottuta avarakku, avar vittuduvaru (Our
Bharathiraaja. I will compose one special song for him and he will be
ok!!)
Hope I havent bored to enough. More on the female singers and other
aspects in my next mail.
