AR Rahman's Tamil Blockbuster "BOYS"

Rahman's much anticipated "Boys" is set to release soon and everyone is keen on finding out more about this album. Who are the singers? What are the soundtracks like? When is the release date? Will the album be delayed? If anyone has any idea; please post here....

Also; use this thread to discuss this album..

Here is what i found::

Typical of Shankar, the director is not prepared to say much about the film at this point. However, it is known that the film will be very youthful, almost teeny-bop, in content, with the majority of the cast being in the 16-23 age group.

Shankar, apparently, has decided to cast all new faces in his film – and the younger the better.

In fact, a mention in various Tamil periodicals, and an accompanying advertisement to the effect that Shankar was looking for new faces, has created a headache of sorts for the producers. Curriculums vitae have been pouring in to the Surya Movies post box ever since the ad and the story ran in the vernacular press – and last heard from, the flood shows no signs of abating.

Curiously enough, the ad appears – thanks to emails and discussion groups – to have reached an audience abroad as well, with the result that newer batches of applications have US, British and suchlike stamps on them, which suits the producer and director fine since the film does incorporate a lot of NRI faces.

For Shankar, Boys will be a return to romance after Kadhalan, and to comedy after the Aishwarya Rai-Prashanth starrer Jeans. Though the film will feature fresh – and ergo, inexpensive – faces, Shankar maintains that the film will be typical of his style, which means lavish budgets, and expensive production values.

  Girlfriend and Dating are really ARR class..but rest of songs are mere junk..i was expecting something in the style of Enrreum Punnagai(AP), Thiruda Thiruda..where the beats are so cool..
  
  Overall, i thought Boys will be something like Backstreet Boys, but it doenst even come near...as this movie is the perfect platform to try to that level.

  At a time when the norm is to shoot only songs in scenic locales abroad, this movie's shooting started in Sri Lanka and after a period of 36 days, it shifted to Chennai and Ooty. Music is composed by A.R.Rahman.Cinematography is by P.Kannan.K.Palanivel is editing this movie which has songs written by Pa.Vijay, Kabilan and Thenmozhi. . K.Muralitharan, V.Swaminathan, and G.Venugoplan have produced the movie.

  As rumours are making the rounds that director Shankar and A.R.Rahman have split, the audio of Boys are chartbusters and have revived the audio industry.
  
  A spokesperson of Star Music Audio company told Sify.com: “The audio of Boys is doing amazing business. We had initially ordered for 60,000 casettes but within 20 days we have already sold over 1, 50, 000 cassettes and CD’s!”
  
  Suddenly Boys has become the largest selling cassette in the last two years and may change the fortunes of the music industry. And once the film releases, the sales are sure to go up. The numbers in the album like “Dating”, “Boyfriend”, and “Boom Boom” are already on the lips of the youngsters.
  
  Three cheers to that great Shankar- Rahman combination. Lets hope that they shake hands and make up and give us more peppy chartbusters in future.

  Yes boys is best selling album.You can seel boys album in TFM page DF. You can not sell in TN.Because nutsouls live in tamil nadu. You should remember Kadal Virus,Parthale Paravasam,Udaya,parasuram,Baba(with superstar!!!),Alli arjuna sold well in this forum.Every one claimed no.1 selling album and some body claimed it sells top in malasiya. What rhe hell is going in TN.

  This could be standard technique of Music company executives to give uplift to sales. This was done for IR's Ivan also.
  
  However, Boys is a decent album, but not an album to rave for. I feel that KV is correct mix between western and Melody and was better than Boys.
  
  In my opinion Boys songs kindles the initial curiosity to listen and may not stand that long.

  I think the news is true. It is a decent album and with ARR and Shankar's name there is great market value to it. Let ARR fans enjoy some triumph amidst the recent disappointments of ARR. Good luck!

  hey paran mam, i'm back after a tough week for me..... yes indeed Boys is the biggest hit in 2 years for tamil... i personally confirmed it from Music world guys and other big music shops in Chennai, it is a major hit with CD sales running riot...
