The much talked about film " Popcorn " was originally to be scored by YSR. But due to YSR being in high demand,he has had to reject this movie and it has been passed to ARR. This movie is the life story of the great Maestro Isaignani Ilayaraja. ARR will be scoring the music,but I don't think he will be able to even attempt to score music like the Great Genius.

Does the village hero of the movie learn to play keyboards, program drum machines anywhere in the screen play..One scene like this is enough for ARR to have his field day :)

I think it's a stupid idea.How can one make a dog miaow like a cat?Im not saying ARR is a dog for those of you who will immediately get defensive.I mean it more as how could ARR ever try to score IR style music?

Trend,
As you are aware, IR is not in his peak and his music has a poor market value. Moreover, it will be the same old instruments and inspired songs. He will even write lyrics and sing a couple of songs. Hence, he's not the MD:-)

Is this true? if so, i think it is ARR's way of paying his tributes tto his musical hero. definitely ARR has been totally inspired by IR and knew could never be another IR, so tried very hard to break out and did succeed.

It is great to hear that ARR has accepted this movie despite being second choice.It shows that ARR is not the number 1 choice for every director,but he still tookit upon himself to do the music.
As for YSR not being capable of doing te music, Come on guys, After "Nandha" we all know it is not the case.If anything,YSR would have been a better choice for the movie rather than ARR but as posted in another thread, it says that YSR's upcoming projects are :

This is a rumor, ARR was offered the movie first and then it went to YSR, He is doing the Music for this movie,

Not sure if it is IR's story or not, But YSR is the MD,

Actually the movie was not offered to ARR first it was offered to YSR who accepted it but then declined it.It then went to ARR who wanted to do some work as a tribute to IR.

ARR, YSR and KR should be used to provide accompaniments or a "jugalbandhi" to pay their tributes. That'd be better

I dunno whether the story is based on the life of IR, but what i know is that ARR was associated with the film even before it got renamed. I guess due to busy schedule ARR wud have declined it and hence it wud have gone to YSR. I dont believe in this webulagam story...

The very point that YSR is busier than ARR is illogical ... c'mon guyz, put ur brains to work..

Guess who,please put your brain to work! Since ARR is so busy with BD it is a known fact that he just simply does not have the time to spend on TFM which is why we are seeing so many track transfers from other movies.YSR has more films in had than any other MD at present.Deva has 9 films and Bharani has 8.YSR has over 14 movies!
So in normal circumstances,maybe it wouldn't be logical to think that YSR is busier than ARR but in this situation it is feasible.
As cosmician said, it would be nice to see ARR,KR and YSR all contribute to this movie.

Guess Who,
As far as I remember, YSR is the MD with max. no. of movies in TFM - 10 movies ! He has three telugu movies and a Hindhi movie (not confirmed) that makes his total 13 - Doing 13 movies parallelly, He should be busy I guess !

I am not sure if ARR is still busy with Bombay Dreams. I saw a recent BBC TV interview with a lady artist from UK & I remember her mentioning that ARR has done a terrific job in BD & that even the western crowd is going to find the music very appealing. From that I inferred that he's completed his work for BD. Please correct me if I'm mistaken.

arun_uk you are mistaken.I too am from UK and saw the interview.The artist said that the music she has heard has been terrific,but the music is not yet completed.The work for BD will only be completed early May 2002.

After Parthale Paravasam and Alli Arjuna ARR lost his market value. In KB's 100th film the Audio company lose > 50 lacs.(Industry News).HMV refuse to take the audio rights of Mani's Kannathil..(now it is released by Tips Audio)
