Rahman's much anticipated "Boys" is set to release soon and everyone is keen on finding out more about this album. Who are the singers? What are the soundtracks like? When is the release date? Will the album be delayed? If anyone has any idea; please post here....

Here is what i found::
Typical of Shankar, the director is not prepared to say much about the film at this point. However, it is known that the film will be very youthful, almost teeny-bop, in content, with the majority of the cast being in the 16-23 age group.
Shankar, apparently, has decided to cast all new faces in his film – and the younger the better.
In fact, a mention in various Tamil periodicals, and an accompanying advertisement to the effect that Shankar was looking for new faces, has created a headache of sorts for the producers. Curriculums vitae have been pouring in to the Surya Movies post box ever since the ad and the story ran in the vernacular press – and last heard from, the flood shows no signs of abating.
Curiously enough, the ad appears – thanks to emails and discussion groups – to have reached an audience abroad as well, with the result that newer batches of applications have US, British and suchlike stamps on them, which suits the producer and director fine since the film does incorporate a lot of NRI faces.
For Shankar, Boys will be a return to romance after Kadhalan, and to comedy after the Aishwarya Rai-Prashanth starrer Jeans. Though the film will feature fresh – and ergo, inexpensive – faces, Shankar maintains that the film will be typical of his style, which means lavish budgets, and expensive production values.

Music of BOYS still rules
Though the diatribe against the film is continuing, music of the BOYS is still making great waves. The film’s music has become rage among youth and still continues to be top of the chartbusters. With this film, A.R.Rehaman has come back to form. And his next film in Tamil is ENAKU 18, UNAKU 16. The film’s music is going to be released this month end.

When MichaelMadhanaKamarajan was released, it did not get good opening and it did only avg business. People were not ready for full length comdies or could not appreciate it that time. But after 6 yrs, the trend caught up and was successful for couple of yrs starting with UllathaiAllithaa.
Now maybe Boys is not appreciated but after 5-6 yrs this is going to be the trend. The thing is that we are not ready to digest certain things still.

MADDY,
I just heard the song "Highways le le... Speedbreakers le le..." on 98.3 FM. The song was very nice.
Was it ARR's? If not, which MD? From which film?

I have another question.
I found from the web the marriage mantra as:
Mangalyam thanthuna nena mamajeevana hetuna
Kante Rudra Yashubade Thwam deeya sharadam shubam.
But, why is the lyrics in the song "MANGALYAM" from Alaipayuthey having lyrics different from "RUDRA YASHUBADE THWAM DEEYA"?

the songs of boys are good, but i think,ARR missed to give more strength to the nuxal song.first of all we cant understand the words.in revalutionary songs the tune must be more catchy, lyrics should be more powerful, and selection of singers is also important.these are not correctly followed in that song.i like the revolutionary songs like
"yerimali eppadi porukkum"[sivappu malli],agnikunjondru and vandhematharam[bharathy].

MADDY,DRS: Looks like it is one word difference-Rudraya instead of Badnami. May be, rudraya is used by saivites and badnami by others(?). I think both versions are used. I will check.

I have "NEWS"
I was just listening to "Club Mirchi" program on 98.3 FM Radio Mirchi in Chennai, when the RJ "Jimmy" just played the lines "SA RE GA NAE" and then immediately played "YE YE YE YEA" line from some english song. Well, so, ARR has started copying the tunes as well? Hmm... First, rythms, then tunes... oh!
I couldn't find out which song that was because of an unfortunate Power Cut before the song could be played. But, if you want to know specifically, you could just mail mirchijimmy@indiatimes.com ==> the e-mail ID of the RJ. Ask him for the song played at about 9.20 pm on 27th september.
If you do mail him, please post his reply here.
Thank you.

Due to your power cut ill explain what happened next ; He didnt play any ENGLISH song, what they played were No. 18 and no 17 songs in the countdown!!!!!
Too bad your hopes va\nished. I bet u knew he was jooking, being an anti ARR you just made up the power cut thing!

Hmmmmm,
I said I am anti-ARR? I don't remember at all. Well, anyway, I still don't understand your explanation.
He first played that "bit" then told us to listen to "this bit" and played SA RE GA MAE. After that, he played the whole song of SA RE GA MAE, in the middle of which only there was a power cut in West C.I.T nagar where I was staying - for 15 mins or so. So, what countdown was it and why was he joking?

the words or the way it is done where you get the audience involved? Because if its the words well....tell u the truth those words are part of indian music.
If its the way they get the audience involved many concerts are done that way so not really seeing your point.maybe its new to indian music but its done in many english concerts to get the audience involved.
we talkin way its done or the music?

Piratheepan,
I still hadn't got a response from Hmmmmm so I still don't know if the whole thing RJ Jimmy played was a joke, but he showed that neither the words nor the way it was getting the audience involved was a copy, but the actual "tune".
The "tune" in which Lucky Ali sings "Sa Ree Ga Mae. Pa daa ni sae" in the chorus (probably the second chorus).

This is a question for all ARR fans.
"Does anybody know the real (complete) official qualification of ARR? Which colleges, courses, etc.? Also, somewhere I read he won a scholarship to study in the Trinity Music College of London. So, did he actually go to London and learnt from the teachers at the main college, or he did his exams in India itself and got the certificates from the College?"

i was very much impressed by the film boyz. i can't understand why the film was banned. many films bring about many vulgarities but only this film was banned . i felt very much bad about it.

Arun,
The film was opposed because in other films like Thulluvatho Illamai, and the like, though more vulgarity is shown potrayed through teenagers, those films showed a reason for the bad behaviour of the students (like bad broughtup, parents' negligence, family problems, etc.)
But, in BOYS, Shankar had shown those things done by "every teenager who can be found sitting on compound walls, esp. those outside Women's college).
Also, I found a few similarities between Thulluvatho Illamai and BOYS screenplay. I'll post them below.
- From: Anonymous (@ 61.2.236.21)
on: Mon Oct 27 20:49:20 EST 2003
Yea, I recently got Thulluvatho Illamai CD, and I found a few similarities between that and BOYS.
TI: 3+3=6 BOYS: 5+1=6
TI: One boy dies BOYS: One boy dies
TI: Ramesh Kanna BOYS: Vivek
TI: The 'boys' gang goes to the prostitutes BOYS: Same here
TI: The 'boys' are shown buying Girls' Mags BOYS: Krishna does it
TI: They run away from their home BOYS: Same here
TI: They work and earn their living BOYS: Same here
TI: The hero beats up a guy who proposed the heroine BOYS: The 'boys' gang beat up the guy who misbehaved with the heroine
TI: They go to jail BOYS: The hero goes to jail
This list is not exhaustive, for there could be more similarities. I had just listed what had come to my mind right now. Also, there are definitely lots and lots of differences... I had just attempted to list the similarities.
The main difference being in Shankar and SelvaRagavan.
Because of Shankar, the film 'BOYS' is TECHNICALLY SUPERIOR. Also, the screenplay is trademark of Shankar - with his humourous story-telling, fine emotions, reality, fantastic aesthetic feel, fine tinge of Adult humour, and pain. This makes the film more interesting and watchable than Thulluvatho Illamai.
SelvaRagavan, on the other hand, has poor screenplay, poor story-telling, poor aesthetic environment, but shows the vulgarity explicitly (in scenes and in dialoges). Yet, his films - Kadal Kondein and Thulluvatho Illamai did not become the target of critics because of the excuse that DHANUSH (i don't remember the character names of his in the 2 films) had a BAD BAD BAD childhood.
Shankar was bold enough to omit that part. He also ought to be appreciated for his commitment to making the 6 onscreen-newbies act like pros. Yes, Dhanush is a fantastic hero. He acts extremely well. Dances and fights well. His dedication is commendable. It is these talents of his that compensates, or rather, overweighs his disadvantage of poor personality. MADDY, take note. :)
That's all for now folks. Any comments? Glad to hear.

Where are the people who condemned Boys now? Dont they have any comments for Pithamagan...
Pithamagan has more than 3 scenes of woman beating...
1) the gambling scene at the road where surya and karunaas grab laila'a hair violently and pull her down to play again.
2) the scene where surya gives laila a tight slap till she falls in the train..
why do the people who say Boys is a bad influence for youth keep mum now.. Is woman beating good influence for youth? or do the people who say Boys is bad beat their own woman?
and if those guys never noticed or even feel negatively for those woman beating scene in the movie, and they feel negatively for scenes in Boys, then there is something seriously wrong with them...
for it is better to promote love then woman beating....
women are held highly in our culture, but when these woman beating scenes are shown, not even one shitface complains...
but when some kissing scenes are shown there is a big hoohah...
and where is the women's right activist who filed a petition in court for the movie Boys?
